Chapter 3 - Chapter1_Before The Lights Go Out

The last thing I remember before the darkness swallowed everything was the faint hum of the city — the streetlights flickering, the distant sound of rain, and the silence that followed when the power finally went out.

For a moment, I thought it was just another blackout. But then, I realized… this darkness wasn't normal. It wasn't just the absence of light — it was something alive.

I could feel it watching me.

The air grew colder, heavier, pressing against my chest like an invisible weight. I tried to call out, but my voice caught in my throat. My phone's flashlight flickered once, twice… then died completely.

That's when I saw it — a faint silhouette standing at the end of the hallway.

Still. Silent. Waiting.

My mind screamed to move, to run, to do something, but my body refused to listen. And just before everything went black again, I heard a whisper — soft, but close enough to feel its breath against my ear:

"Don't look back."

When I opened my eyes again, the world was quiet. Too quiet.

And in the distance… the lights started turning on, one by one — but not the same color as before.
