Chapter 18 - WAVES OF CELEBRATION

The morning sun streamed through the living room window, painting everything in a soft golden glow. The house was alive with warmth Hope's gentle giggles filled the air, her tiny hands reaching for her mother's face. Destiny lifted her, smiling as Ethan snapped a quick picture with his phone.

"She's camera-ready like her mama," he teased, earning a playful nudge from Destiny.

"Stop it, Ethan," Destiny said, laughing. "You've taken over fifty pictures already this morning."

"That's because my girls are the most beautiful sight on earth," he replied, wrapping an arm around her waist.

Destiny leaned her head against his shoulder, her heart swelling with gratitude. Life had changed so much. The woman who once struggled to find her footing was now standing tall a mother, an author, a woman reborn through love, patience, and resilience.

Today was special. Her first public book signing event was being held at a large bookstore in Abuja. It wasn't just a professional milestone; it was a celebration of everything she had fought for the sleepless nights, the tears, the doubts, and the hope that had carried her through it all.

Her brother Fredrick arrived that morning, suitcase in hand, his face lit up with excitement. "Look at my big sister!" he exclaimed, dropping his bag and rushing to hug her tightly. "You've made us so proud, Destiny. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am for you."

Destiny hugged him back, her eyes misty. "Fredrick you came all the way from Enugu just for this?"

"Of course I did! How could I miss my sister's big day?" He grinned and glanced at Hope, who was cooing in Ethan's arms. "And look at this angel! My little niece is growing fast."

Ethan shook his hand warmly. "Good to finally meet you, Fredrick. Destiny's told me so much about you."

Fredrick smiled. "Same here, Ethan. Thank you for being there for her. You've done a lot, man and it shows. She's glowing."

Destiny blushed, swatting her brother's arm lightly. "Fredrick, stop teasing."

Just then, the door opened again, and Cynthia burst in, radiating energy as always. "Where's my superstar author?" she announced dramatically, holding up a bouquet of fresh lilies. "I'm so proud of you, babe!"

Destiny squealed and ran to hug her best friend. "Cynthia! You made it!"

"Of course I did!" Cynthia said, stepping back and looking Destiny up and down. "You look incredible. Motherhood and success definitely suit you. Ethan, nice to see you again!"

Ethan smiled. "Always a pleasure, Cynthia. Thanks for keeping her sane through all those late-night calls."

"Oh please," Cynthia chuckled. "Destiny keeps me sane most of the time."

Laughter filled the room as they all sat down for breakfast freshly made pancakes, fried eggs, and tea courtesy of Destiny's ex-mother-in-law, who was humming happily in the kitchen. Her ex-father-in-law joined them soon after, cradling Hope as though she were his own grandchild.

"I can't explain how proud I am of you, Destiny," her ex-father-in-law said warmly. "You've brought so much joy into this home. Seeing you succeed feels like seeing our own daughter fulfill her dreams."

Destiny's eyes filled with emotion. "You've both been like parents to me. I couldn't have come this far without your support."

Her ex-mother-in-law smiled, squeezing her hand. "We thank God, dear. He's been faithful."

After breakfast, the family got ready for the event. Destiny slipped into a flowing cream gown with delicate gold patterns elegant yet simple. Ethan helped her with her necklace, whispering, "You look breathtaking, Destiny. I'm so proud to be beside you."

Her brother Fredrick added with a grin, "Abeg, Ethan, don't flatter her too much. She already knows she's a queen."

Cynthia laughed. "Fredrick, let the man appreciate his woman jare."

Everyone burst out laughing as they headed out.

The Book Launch Event

The venue buzzed with energy. Posters of Destiny's debut novel A Second Chance at Love adorned the walls. Rows of seats were filled with readers, journalists, and fellow writers. The soft background music added an air of anticipation.

As Destiny entered the hall, the crowd erupted in applause. She froze for a moment, overwhelmed by the sight. Ethan gently placed a hand on her back. "Go on, love. This is your moment."

Her heart pounded as she stepped onto the stage. "Good afternoon, everyone," she began, her voice trembling slightly but full of warmth. "I stand here today not just as a writer, but as a woman who has been broken, healed, and reborn through love love from family, friends, and from within."

The audience was silent, captivated. She spoke about her journey how she began writing out of pain and uncertainty, how faith and hope guided her, and how every chapter of her story led her to this moment.

When she finished, the crowd gave her a standing ovation. Destiny's eyes searched for Ethan, Fredrick, Cynthia, and her ex-in-laws in the audience. They were all standing, clapping proudly, with tears of joy in their eyes.

Ethan mouthed, "I love you."

Fredrick whistled loudly, shouting, "That's my sister!"

Cynthia waved her phone, recording everything. "You're trending already, babe!"

After the speech, Destiny signed copies of her book for fans. Some readers even brought small gifts for baby Hope. Cameras flashed, people cheered, and Destiny felt a wave of happiness wash over her.

When the event finally ended, the family gathered at a cozy restaurant nearby.

"To Destiny!" Fredrick said, raising his glass. "The strongest woman I know a mother, a writer, and a fighter. You deserve all this and more."

"Cheers to that!" Cynthia added, clinking glasses with everyone.

Ethan smiled at Destiny, his gaze soft and full of admiration. "You've come so far, my love. This is just the beginning. I told you you were born for greatness."

Her ex-mother-in-law nodded. "Truly, Destiny, you've become an inspiration. You've shown what it means to rise again."

Destiny looked around the table at the people who had walked with her through every storm and felt tears slip down her cheeks. "I can't take credit alone," she said softly. "All of you you've been my strength, my family. This isn't just my victory; it's ours."

Ethan reached for her hand. "And we'll keep building together. You, me, Hope and everyone who stood by us."

That night, back home, Destiny sat in her room, holding Hope close while Ethan gently strummed his guitar nearby. Fredrick and Cynthia chatted in the living room, laughing with her ex-in-laws over tea. The house was alive with joy, peace, and laughter.

Hope yawned sleepily in her mother's arms, and Destiny smiled down at her. "You're my miracle, my Hope," she whispered. "Everything I do, I do for you."

Ethan came closer, wrapping his arms around both of them. "You've given me purpose too," he said softly.

As the moonlight filtered through the curtains, Destiny realized that her life had come full circle from pain to peace, from heartbreak to healing, from loneliness to love.

She wasn't just living anymore. She was thriving surrounded by love, anchored by faith, and strengthened by every second chance life had offered her.
