Ezreal slowly opened his eyes, finding himself in the guild's infirmary. Sunlight streamed through the window, warm and comforting.
His head was still a bit muddled, but he quickly regained clarity.
Sitting up, Ezreal took a deep breath, feeling his entire body filled with power.
He knew he was no longer the bewildered transmigrator, new to this unknown world.
Now, he was ready to face any challenge.
Ezreal stood up, walked out of the infirmary, and entered the guild hall.
In the hall, his companions were busy; some were exchanging magic insights, some were discussing quest assignments, and others were enjoying food and drinks.
Seeing him appear, everyone stopped what they were doing and gathered around him.
"EZ, you're finally awake!" Makarov's voice was filled with relief. "This is your tenth day of being unconscious!"
"Has it really been that long?" Ezreal was shocked.
"How do you feel? Is there anywhere you're still uncomfortable?" Mira asked with concern.
"You scared us half to death when you fainted," Laki said, patting her chest, looking still shaken.
"Yeah, you suddenly collapsed. We thought Marcus had accidentally injured you," Gray said, a hint of blame in his eyes as he looked at Marcus.
"I really didn't do anything, I swear!" Marcus quickly defended himself, his face full of innocence.
"We know, Marcus," Elfman comforted, "We're all men!"
"You comforted me well. Don't comfort me next time," Marcus rolled his eyes.
"I'm fine now, I just remembered some things from the past." Ezreal smiled and shook his head, indicating he was perfectly fine and briefly explained the true reason for his unconsciousness.
Though they hadn't known each other long, these people truly didn't treat him as an outsider. This warm feeling made him feel very secure.
"Thank you all for your concern, I've fully recovered." Ezreal looked around, a confident smile on his face. "Now... I feel better than ever."
"That's good. The Master has been telling us these past few days that he was worried you might turn into a madman," Marcus joked, eliciting a round of soft laughter from the others.
"By the way, EZ, you mentioned wanting to learn Summoning Magic before. Do you still want to continue?" Mira asked.
Ezreal nodded. Even with his combat memories restored, his goal hadn't changed.
He needed Summoning Magic to improve his survival abilities, so he could protect himself better.
Ezreal looked at Makarov and softly asked, "Master, I want to learn Summoning Magic. Can you give me some advice?"
"No problem, but let's not rush." Makarov nodded. He was willing to help every member of the guild within his capabilities.
Moreover, learning magic was a serious matter, and he was very willing to provide support. It was much better than cleaning up after troublemakers like Natsu or Erza, who were always causing problems.
"Porlyusica said that the reason you were unconscious for so long was because the memories you received were too vast." The old man's voice was serious yet gentle. "It's a good thing to recover lost memories, but it also takes time to adapt. Come find me anytime when you've recovered. I'll be at the guild these days."
"Okay, thank you very much, I really appreciate it," Ezreal said happily.
Makarov waved his hand dismissively, extremely pleased with this new young man in the guild, who was polite, humble, and respected elders.
He was much more reliable than troublesome kids like Natsu Grey, who always caused trouble on quests.
Indeed, when picking up children, it's best to pick them up from other worlds, preferably older ones. Mystogan and Ezreal were good examples.
With this thought, Makarov went back to drinking and considered whether he should take more walks in the various forests of the Fiore Kingdom when he had nothing to do.
Both children were found in forests, so walking more might lead to finding another... He returned to the house the Master helped him rent and had a good night's sleep.
Ezreal rested for five days. During this time, he fought with guild members whenever he had free time, thoroughly familiarizing himself with his combat memories.
In Fairy Tail, this world of magic, his strength was even greater due to the absence of cooldown restrictions on abilities found in the Canyon.
According to the guild's standards for evaluating Mages, Ezreal's current strength was on par with a B-Class Mage. However, his total magical power was a weakness, unable to sustain him through long battles.
In short, he could contend with a B-Class Mage, but his mana bar wasn't long enough, making him less proficient in prolonged combat than the Mages of this world.
Regarding mana reserves, Ezreal currently had no good solution.
Aside from combat, Ezreal also spent this time reading magic books and relevant information about Earth Land to enrich his understanding of this world.
With a memory talent comparable to photographic recall, Ezreal finally mastered the common knowledge of the Earth Land world.
On the sixth day, Ezreal finally sought out Makarov... on the third floor of the guild, in the Fairy Tail Library.
Makarov led Ezreal to the guild's internal library. The number of books here was not particularly large, limited by the area of the guild's third floor. It was probably more like the size of a coffee bookstore, with a decor style more akin to a conference room.
A quick glance led Ezreal to estimate that the number of books here wouldn't exceed twenty thousand, but every book on the shelves carried a very heavy sense of age.
"First Master Mavis and Second Master Precht were both learned individuals. Influenced by them, the guild members at the time enjoyed collecting books. Most common knowledge has already been donated to the Magnolia Library; only a small portion remains here." Makarov told Ezreal to find a table and sit down, while he himself leaped up and took a book from among the many old books on the shelf.
"The existing collection here, Second Master Precht, when he passed the position of Third Master to me, solemnly warned me and the Fairy Tail members at the time not to easily reveal it to outsiders." Makarov handed the magic book in his hand to Ezreal.
The book was almost as thick as a dictionary, and a strange gem was embedded in its cover, emitting a faint glow.
Inside the gem, the book's title was written in some golden pigment.
Dimensional Summoning
"Is it because the books here are too precious?" Ezreal asked, looking at the clearly extraordinary magic book in his hand.
"Knowledge is created to serve people. Preciousness is only one aspect; the other aspect is danger." Makarov pointed to the bookshelves behind him and continued, "This place contains a lot of ancient magic knowledge and legendary stories unknown to the world."
"Many ancient magics were lost not only due to their age but also because the difficulty of cultivation was too great. Once cultivation failed, it could lead to unpredictable consequences, with death being considered an easy one among them."
"And regarding ancient legends, many are actually true. For example, the Fishmen race under the sea, the lost golden country in the Cherpata Desert, and the Longevity Island that appears every ten years in the East Pati Sea. Beautiful legends are always desirable."
"Evil curses, man-eating barbarians, and powerful magical beasts, however, rarely appear in records."
"There are many people in this world who are overconfident but always dream of getting rich quickly and achieving fame overnight. Their lives are also lives, and it's always good if fewer of them die."
As Makarov spoke these words, in Ezreal's eyes, he seemed to glow.
The more he interacted with these people in the guild, the more real and warm they felt. Although some of them had somewhat difficult pasts, everyone seemed to be living diligently and strongly, even influencing those around them.
There was no clichéd deep-seated bitterness, inability to see others succeed, or profit-driven betrayal, unlike in other books.
There was only genuine sincerity, kindness, and a gentle warmth that shone like the sun.
"This is an ancient magic book, from seven hundred years ago; its creator is no longer traceable."
"This magic played a huge role in the history of Summoning Magic's development, and many Summoning Magics were inspired by Dimensional Summoning."
"It describes a Summoning Magic capable of opening a gate to another world that has a close connection to the caster."
Makarov gazed at Ezreal, "It's very suitable for you to learn."
Makarov handed the book to Ezreal. "But this magic is very complex, requiring extremely high magical control, vast magical power, and most importantly, spatial perception ability."
Ezreal took the book, his fingers gently tracing the gem on the cover, immediately feeling a spatial fluctuation.
"I will learn it," Ezreal's determination shone in his eyes.
