Chapter 9 - Confinement

"Bang—"

It seemed their collaboration didn't go as planned, or perhaps for some other reason.

Stone Free's fist slammed into the air, but Cain 's body flew backward.

Crashing into the wall behind him, Cain stood up, clutching his face.

"You damn woman, how dare you attack a Guard? This place can't hold you anymore!"

Immediately after, Cain pulled out his walkie-talkie, briefly explained the situation to the Guard on the other end, and then hung up.

Taking a few steps forward, Cain once again disappeared from the surveillance cameras' view.

"Hey, we agreed this was just an act, why did you use so much force?!" Cain rubbed his face, his eyes full of resentment as he looked at Jolyne Cujoh.

It turned out the two had already discussed and decided to create some conflict to give Jolyne a reason to be imprisoned in the 'High-Security Solitary Confinement Building'.

That was a building outside the prison, located southeast of the Men's Prison.

Normally, unless escorting extremely heinous criminals, even regular Guards had no authority to enter.

"Sorry, I accidentally used a little too much force, and besides, it looks more realistic this way, doesn't it?" Jolyne smiled awkwardly, repeatedly apologizing.

The truth was, Star Platinum had punched her hard in the conference room, of course, that was out of kindness.

But she still wanted to hit back while Star Platinum's Stand was on someone else.

That's right!

Jolyne Cujoh's punch just now didn't hit the air; it actually landed squarely on the face of Star Platinum's Stand, which was invisible to normal people.

"I'll reluctantly believe you." Although Cain knew there was something fishy going on, he chose to endure it.

Consider it the price a thief deserves to pay.

Cain turned around and looked at Emporio, who was standing aside, flipping through a book. Although he was curious where Emporio got the book, the Guards were about to arrive, so it was best for Emporio to retreat first.

"Hey, you..."

But before Cain could finish his sentence, the book in Emporio's hand mysteriously disappeared. He then pulled out a trash can from behind and put it over himself. "I understand, I'll go back to the ghost room now and wait for your good news."

As soon as he finished speaking, Emporio transformed into a moving trash can, dodging surveillance as he steadily made his way to the ghost room.

"He's really a clever kid," Cain rubbed his face again.

Not long after, the Guards arrived and escorted Jolyne Cujoh out of her cell.

Cain then whispered something to the leading Guard and naturally joined the team escorting Jolyne Cujoh.

They walked past the main control building, through the Men's Prison, and a metal gate appeared before them.

The next second, the Guard walked to the access control, and after his iris was identified, the metal gate opened.

An asphalt road leading to the confinement building appeared before them.

"What are you standing there for, hurry up!" Seeing Jolyne still standing still, the Guard immediately drew the baton from his waist and struck Jolyne's shoulder.

"Ah~"

Jolyne, wincing in pain, stumbled forward, then gloomily turned to look at the Guard.

But the Guard didn't care, he scoffed and disdainfully said, "A rotten orange is a rotten orange. When you get there, you'll know what true hell is."

Seeing this, Cain pulled his hat brim lower and then reached out to press Jolyne's shoulder.

At the same time, Star Platinum also appeared by Jolyne's ear and whispered, "When you get to the confinement building, they're yours to deal with."

Meanwhile, in the chapel, Father Pucchi was listening to a Prisoner's confession.

"..."

A blonde, blue-eyed male Prisoner was looking at Father Pucchi with hopeful eyes.

He had just requested parole from the Father.

His name was Tunaqi. He was accidentally caught in a gang war and was wrongly imprisoned as an accomplice. Today marked his fourth year of incarceration.

If nothing unexpected happened, he would be released on this day two years from now.

But he dared not wait any longer.

His cellmates had been disappearing one after another recently, and when he went to look for them, he found out.

Those he had spoken to were now either lying in intensive care beds in the infirmary or buried in the Prisoner Cemetery.

The series of accidents made him unable to remain calm, so he decided to make a request to the prison's chaplain.

"Alright, I will nominate your request to the committee. For now, you should go back." Father Pucchi spat out a cherry pit. Two pieces of fruit pulp were completely detached, but the pit was still connected to the cherry stem.

Tunaqi was overjoyed upon hearing the Father's reply.

"Really? Thank you, Father Pucchi."

Tunaqi stood up and bowed, then turned to leave.

But the moment he turned around, Pale Snake appeared behind him, holding a Stand Disc.

"..."

Silently, the Disc was placed into Tunaqi's brain, yet he remained completely unaware.

Still immersed in the excitement of potentially getting parole.

"Click—"

The wooden door of the room was tightly shut. Father Pucchi interlaced his fingers, his elbows serving as a fulcrum to support his head.

"Whoosh—"

He closed his eyes.

Perhaps due to a sleepless night, a faint snore soon emanated from Father Pucchi's mouth.

However, a meaningful smile now played on his lips.

In the hallway, Tunaqi was walking towards the Men's Prison, but gradually, he stopped.

It was as if tens of thousands of mosquitoes were buzzing in his ears.

"W-what's going on?!" Tunaqi covered his ears, thinking it would lessen the sound in his ears.

But after he covered his ears, the sound became even clearer.

After a while, a patrolling Guard finally discovered Tunaqi lying on the grass.

But just as the Guard was about to help him up, a white Stand appeared behind the Guard, extracting the Guard's spirit as a Disc with a wave of its hand.

The Guard, having lost his spirit, lay on the ground.

Meanwhile, Tunaqi, who had been lying on the lawn, stood up again. He lowered his head, clenched his fist, and his mouth opened, but it was the Father's voice that came out.

"What a truly marvelous experience."

...Stand: Pale Snake

Ability: Can melt the opponent's "heart" through beating and create a "DISC" to extract it.

Those whose "heart" is extracted lose their mental power and enter a state of suspended animation; however, as long as the "DISC" is returned to the body, they can be revived. It can also create a DISC with mental commands and insert it into the brains of animals and humans to control them, or transform into a muddy substance to touch enemies, creating illusions and digesting them. The DISC is divided into two pieces: "Memory DISC" and "Stand DISC." One can view related memories by looking at the surface of the "DISC" (Memory DISC → memories related to that person, Stand DISC → memories related to that Stand). If a Stand User uses it, they should also be able to directly insert it into their head to read it.
