Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Seeking Death

In a daze, I seemed to arrive at a vast place, to be precise, a cemetery.

All around, it was extremely eerie, the cold seeped into the bones, as if I had entered The Nine Hells.

At a glance, there were nearly a hundred black tombstones densely packed!

More terrifying were the thousands of swords stuck around the tombstones, seemingly forming an enormous array!

And those black tombstones were the array hubs!

"What on earth is this..."

Just as I was about to speak, the entire ground began to tremble. All the hundred tombstones trembled with it, and then, those thousands of swords actually uprooted themselves and flew up to The Nine Heavens!

The scene was extremely spectacular, leaving one dumbfounded!

Before I could react, a rebuke sounded from above the heavens: "How dare you tread into The Meridian Graveyard with such petty realm! Seeking death! You can't even trigger the obsession of the weakest tombstone! Begone!"

With those words, I was kicked out of the graveyard and woke up in the outside world.

I looked at the black stone in my hand in surprise: "Could this be the Magical Treasure from the Ancient Era that the old man mentioned? According to that voice, could it be that once I reach a certain power threshold, I can trigger the obsession of a powerful being within the tombstone? This... what a joke! There are a hundred tombstones; could it be that there are a hundred powerful beings inside?"

Just then, a knock on the door was heard.

The voice of Sarah Moore came from outside: "Are you up yet? If you don't get up, I'm coming in, and I've heard you guys experience morning wood, so I won't be responsible then."

Hearing the familiar voice, I felt a warmth in my heart. I suppressed the shock within and hid the black stone properly.

Right now, my power is far from enough, so better to slowly seek out the secret of this stone.

I opened the door and immediately saw Sarah Moore in her business attire. Perhaps because of the awkwardness from yesterday, Sarah's eyes were somewhat evasive, and her cheeks were a bit flushed, making her extremely cute.

"Sarah Moore, you're so good to me, I suddenly don't want to leave, what should I do? Do you offer long-term accommodation services? I can do the dishes every day and warm your bed as winter is coming..." I said with a cheeky grin.

Sarah Moore sipped some porridge at the dining table, rolled her eyes at me, and said, "You want to play the rogue, and warm the bed? I'm already warm when I sleep; I don't need you to warm my bed..."

My eyes lit up, and I quickly changed my tune: "Then you could warm my bed too. If I could sleep hugging your long legs, I'd probably wake up laughing from my dreams."

After spending a day together, Sarah Moore roughly understood David Johnson's personality, he's full of nonsense, but his heart isn't bad.

She pondered for a moment and seriously said: "If you really want to stay, it's not impossible. First, you have to pay the rent in advance. Second, under any circumstances, I use the bathroom first. Third, washing dishes and clothes will be your job. Kid, you can think for a few hours..."

Before she could finish, I quickly said: "No problem. But I don't have any money on me right now, can I mortgage something instead..."

Sarah Moore was speechless, did this guy not even have a penny on him?

In the end, would she have to be the one to support him?

She looked at David's appearance, hmm, he seemed quite handsome.

As for his physique, she had seen it all last night, and the guy even had an eight-pack.

This is exactly what's described online as the ideal "puppy" type.

While Sarah was lost in her thoughts, I had already fetched a napkin and wrote a few lines on it with a pen.

It was the Basic Youth Pill formula!

Although its level isn't high, selling it could at least support a listed company!

After finishing, I directly handed the napkin to Sarah Moore: "Here, this is the Basic Youth Pill formula, I tweaked it a bit. Aren't you the director of a beauty group? Just show this formula to your technical department. They'll recognize its worth."

Sarah Moore, exasperated, looked at the napkin in her hand with curiosity: "Martinez't tell me you want to use this napkin to cover a month's rent?"

I shook my head, extended a finger, and said: "I want to use this formula to cover a month's rent plus 3000 bucks! If I wasn't broke, I wouldn't do this. Think of it as a thank you for taking me in. Just so you know, this formula is worth at least ten million.

If it goes for less than ten million, don't sell it!"

"Pfft!"

Sarah Moore almost choked on her saliva!

She widened her eyes at me, trying to see if I was joking!

But he was utterly serious!

Oh my!

She had taken in a weirdo!

A napkin with some scribbles worth ten million, what a bold claim.

At this moment, Sarah Moore' impression of David had plummeted. She even felt a bit of revulsion.

If this man didn't remind her of an old classmate, she would've kicked him out long ago.

A minute later, Sarah sighed deeply, put the napkin into her pocket, and handed three thousand bucks to me.

"Honestly... I know guys need their pride, but there's no need for this charade. I'll give you three thousand bucks, but please pack away your high and impractical expectations.

Use this money to find a proper job. Besides, I can only let you stay for a month. After a month, you can go wherever you want, and it'll have nothing to do with me.

That's it, I'm exhausted. I'm off to work. The spare key is on the table."

Sarah picked up her bag and headed out, her eyes filled with disappointment.

This kind of man might be weeded out by society soon enough.

I watched Sarah's back, shaking my head helplessly.

"Sarah Moore, Sarah Moore, you've completely underestimated me. You have no idea how much weight that paper in your pocket carries."

...

I quickly put the matter behind me, then took the black stone out again.

Holding it in my palm, I could vaguely feel that world.

But no matter what, I couldn't enter it.

"Looks like my power is still inadequate, I must focus on my training! I need to forge that thing in the coming days."

Right now, the most important thing for me is to earn some money. The three thousand bucks are nothing compared to the herbs I need for cultivation.

Getting a job?

That's impossible. I could never work for someone my entire life.

Then what could I do?

Start a business? With the formulas I have, I could establish an empire, but the time cost is too high.

I need quick money, and the quicker, the better.

Sell the formula?

That won't work either; if even Sarah Moore doesn't believe in it, why would anyone else?

Heal people?

As soon as I thought of this, I clapped my hands and made up my mind.

But nowadays, treating patients requires a medical license and degree, so working in a hospital is out of the question. For now, I could only set up a small stall.

Once I determined, I immediately went downstairs to a shop and had several banners made, such as "Hua Tuo Reborn" and "Magical Healing," I bought all sorts of silver needles and medical items.

Finally, I walked around the vicinity to scout the best spot for setting up my stall.

Central Park!

As one of Brooksdale's three major parks, Central Park boasts a prominent commercial street with a steady stream of visitors. Most importantly, numerous people set up stalls there for fortune-telling and antique-selling. Visitors might trust traditional medicine, and once my reputation spreads, would I still worry about having no clients?

I spent the whole day preparing for setting up my stall.
