Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: An Old Acquaintance?

Several thugs climbed onto the car roof, ready to attack.

One swung a wooden stick at Lu Chengwen. With a swift kick to the chest, Lu Chengwen sent him tumbling off the SUV. Another thug swung from behind, but Lu Chengwen spun and delivered another kick, sending him flying.

Two kicks, two thugs down. The efficiency was staggering, and the others took notice. This guy wasn't just some reckless fool—he had skills.

The mob grew cautious, circling and aiming for Lu Chengwen's legs. With a deft side-flip off the car roof, he startled them into retreating a few steps before they rushed him again.

For Lu Chengwen, this was a test. He wanted to see if the beginner-level Great Sage Tiger-Subduing Fist he'd gained from the system was as powerful as promised. The results were shocking, even to him.

He wasn't just a man—he was a fighting machine.

Dressed in a tailored suit and Italian leather shoes, Lu Chengwen unleashed a ferocious set of moves. No one could get close. Anyone who tried found themselves disoriented, unable to track him. One moment he was there, the next he was gone—either grabbing their hair and slamming a knee into their face, followed by a skull-cracking collision with a car door, or seizing an arm and dislocating it with a precise burst of force. Some took a palm strike to the throat, leaving them gasping for air for over half a minute.

Each opponent fell with a single blow. A second was an insult to the technique.

Xu Xuejiao, watching from the car, was dumbfounded. Phone in hand, she recorded the scene, bouncing with excitement. "Holy crap! Holy crap! Brother Chengwen! Damn! One punch and they're out! That kick was so freaking cool!"

In less than thirty seconds, it was over. The lot was littered with over twenty men—some clutching dislocated shoulders, others groaning and holding their heads, a few unconscious, drooling on the ground.

Chen Moqun, gripping his baseball bat, crouched and glanced at the fallen thugs, then up at Lu Chengwen, looking like he'd seen a ghost. He crept closer. "You… what did you eat to get like this?"

Lu Chengwen shot him a look. "Wipe the blood off your face. Let's go have a chat with Er Long."

They approached Er Long, who was equally stunned. The two women beside him were trembling. Lu Chengwen was too fierce—each move precise, each strike incapacitating. They'd come expecting to flirt and watch Er Long rough up a rich kid, but instead, they saw a suited-up heartthrob mowing down a crowd like a god of war. His stern expression was terrifying. They feared he might not be done and turn his fists on them next.

Lu Chengwen stopped in front of Er Long. "Can we talk now?"

Er Long stood slowly, glancing at his fallen crew, his face rigid. "Hmph, didn't expect you to be this good, buddy."

"Why'd you go after my brother?" Lu Chengwen demanded.

Er Long pulled a handgun from his pocket, aiming it at Lu Chengwen. "What's the point of being a good fighter? Can you outrun a bullet? Kneel!"

Chen Moqun stepped in front of Lu Chengwen. "You dare shoot? Try it!"

"You think I won't?" Er Long snarled.

"I'm calling your bluff! Shoot me if you've got the guts!"

Lu Chengwen pushed Chen Moqun aside, a small stone already in hand. With a flick, it struck Er Long's hand, making him cry out in pain as the gun fell. Lu Chengwen lunged forward, pinning Er Long to his seat, a seized dagger pressed to his throat.

"I may not outrun a bullet, but I'm faster than your trigger finger."

Er Long glared, then grinned wickedly. "Alright, you're tough. I've learned something today. What's your name?"

"Lu Chengwen."

Er Long froze. "Lu Chengwen? The Lu Chengwen from Snow City's Lu family? CEO of Great Sage Group?"

"That's me."

A hint of respect crept into Er Long's eyes. Money, power, status—those commanded deference, even from enemies. He nodded. "Didn't expect this. They say the Lu heir is a simping scumbag. Guess the rumors are off. That was some show. But, Young Master Lu, I'm not bowing to you. Kill me if you want. If you don't, I'll keep coming for Fatty Chen until he's done."

Lu Chengwen smirked, sheathing the dagger. "Why?"

Er Long adjusted his collar, rubbing his throat. "Ask him what he did!"

Lu Chengwen turned to Chen Moqun, who shrugged. "I… didn't do much."

Er Long exploded. "He slept with my sister! As her brother, if I don't stand up for her, I might as well quit the game!"

Lu Chengwen's eyes widened. "Fatty, is this true?"

Chen Moqun stammered, "I… I didn't know she was his sister! It was consensual! I offered her fifty grand afterward, but she refused it."

Lu Chengwen turned to Er Long. "If it was consensual, you've got no reason to go after my brother."

"He tricked her into bed!" Er Long roared. "Said he'd marry her, so she went with him. Then he tried to pay her off like some hooker! You think I need his damn money?"

Lu Chengwen looked back at Chen Moqun, who scrambled to explain. "It was a misunderstanding! I saw a hot girl while driving, asked her out, and things just… happened. Afterward, she wanted to talk feelings, but you know how exhausting that is!"

Lu Chengwen groaned, exasperated. To Er Long, he said, "Can't we talk this out? Why go straight to violence?"

"I told him to take responsibility," Er Long shot back. "But he acted cockier than me! I've been around—think I'm gonna beg him to marry my sister?"

Chen Moqun snapped, "I've been around too! You came at me like some loan shark. What do you take me for?"

"So what?"

"What do you mean, 'so what'?"

"What do you want?"

"What do you want?"

"Stop! Stop it!" Lu Chengwen spread his arms, silencing them. He pointed at Chen Moqun, fuming. "You! Always messing around instead of doing anything worthwhile! If you're gonna hook up, at least figure out if she's a fling or a decent girl first! Now you've taken advantage and won't own up? If I were her brother, I'd beat you too!"

Then to Er Long: "And you! Think you're hot stuff with a few lackeys? This is about a relationship, not a gang deal. Beating him up solves nothing. What kind of brother does that?"

Chen Moqun blinked, confused. "Chengwen, what are you getting at?"

"Yeah," Er Long added, equally lost. "I get why you're chewing him out, and maybe me too, but scolding us both? I'm lost!"

Lu Chengwen sighed. "Their relationship is their call, not yours. Beating him to death won't help. You want to go to jail? Your sister's gonna bring you meals every day? You can't force this."

"He didn't plan to take responsibility! Why'd he trick her?" Er Long demanded.

"He said it was a misunderstanding, and he offered compensation."

"I don't want his money! I want his leg!"

"What good's his fat leg to you?"

Lu Chengwen asked, "Where's your sister? Have you asked what she wants?"

"Why would I need to?" Er Long scoffed. "She'd want me to beat his ass!"

"Tell your guys to back off. Call your sister. Let's have dinner."

Er Long eyed him suspiciously. "What's your angle?"

"We need a solution, but your sister has to be there. We need to hear what they both think."

At a Chinese restaurant, Lu Chengwen stared at Er Long's sister, momentarily stunned. Er Long looked rough, all menace, but his sister was the opposite—gentle, pure, dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans, her face flushed, eyes shyly downcast.

Lu Chengwen leaned toward Chen Moqun, whispering, "Dead Fatty, you've got good taste. She's a gem."

"No kidding," Chen Moqun replied. "At first, I thought she was part of some 'schoolgirl first-love' gig. Only after we hooked up did I realize she's an actual college student."

Lu Chengwen muttered, "Er Long's so rough-looking, but his sister's this pretty? Doesn't add up."

Xu Xuejiao chimed in, "Probably half-siblings with different parents, so their genes don't match."

Er Long glared at them. "Why don't you say it louder? I'm not deaf! Half-siblings with different parents? That'd mean we're not even related!"

Lu Chengwen laughed. "Oops, my bad! Just… excited to meet your sister. What's her name?"

"Su Sanli." She was shy but poised, offering Lu Chengwen a small smile. When her gaze flicked to Chen Moqun, she blushed.

Lu Chengwen thought, There's something here. She actually likes Fatty?

He smiled. "Sanli, we're all adults here—no need to be nervous. Here's the deal: your brother's upset about you and Moqun. He's protective and almost got into a fight with… well, with Fatty here."

Su Sanli's eyes widened. "Brother, why would you hit him?"

Er Long panicked. "I didn't… well, I got hit too! Look at my hand!"

"Enough, enough," Lu Chengwen cut in. "It was a misunderstanding, all cleared up now."

Su Sanli said earnestly, "Moqun, I'm sorry. My brother dropped out young and got mixed up in rough crowds. He thinks fists solve everything. He's simple-minded but means well. If he did something wrong, please don't hold it against him."

Chen Moqun waved it off, flustered. "It's fine, just a trashed car."

Lu Chengwen intervened, thinking, This is getting out of hand. "Sanli, do you really like Chen Moqun? I mean, besides being rich, what's he got going for him? What do you see in him?"

Su Sanli smiled. "Brother Chengwen, you really don't remember me?"

"What?"

Both Lu Chengwen and Chen Moqun froze, stunned.
