Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Your Highness Lucas

Sarah was stunned when she heard someone call Lucas, "Your Highness."

"Wait… isn't that what you call royalty? Is Lucas… a prince?" she thought, her eyes widening.

"Sarah, stay behind me," Lucas said firmly, his voice laced with worry.

"Why? What's going to happen?"

"…"

He didn't answer, but his expression was enough to tell her something was wrong—terribly wrong.

A low growl echoed through the forest.

"Your Highness! They're here!" shouted the man beside him.

Lucas raised his hand, and in an instant, a silver-colored sword appeared out of thin air.

Sarah hid behind a nearby tree, frozen in place, her mind racing. She had no idea what was happening. Suddenly, black, beastlike creatures with long, sharp fangs lunged out of the shadows. Lucas and the man with cat-like ears drew their weapons and began fighting fiercely.

Sarah was so caught up in shock that she didn't notice one of the creatures creeping up behind her.

"Sarah!"

In a flash, Lucas swung his sword, blocking the creature's enormous claws and saving her just in time.

Sarah's legs gave out, and she fell to the ground, trembling.

"Are you okay, Sarah?" Lucas asked, concern flickering in his eyes.

"I'm… not! I'm not okay!" she shouted, her voice cracking.

"I see."

Lucas hesitated, unsure how to comfort her. After a moment, he quietly handed her a small piece of strawberry-flavored candy.

"I'm not a kid," Sarah muttered—but still took it anyway.

"What were those things just now? Were they… monsters?"

"Yes," Lucas replied simply.

The answer didn't surprise her entirely—she had already begun to suspect it.

"You must be really shaken," Lucas said softly. "Let's talk about it another day."

He had so much to tell her… but now wasn't the right time

Lucas accompanied Sarah home that night, stopping at her doorstep.

"I'll tell you everything soon," he said quietly, his eyes distant. "But before that… there's something I need to take care of."

Before she could ask anything, he turned and disappeared into the night.

Days passed since that terrifying encounter, but Lucas never returned to school. Sarah couldn't shake the memories of that night—the silver sword, the black creatures, and Lucas calling them monsters. She still woke up breathless from nightmares, clutching her blanket as if it could protect her from the unknown.

Then came her eighteenth birthday.

For the first time in years, her parents were home. Sarah was surprised—they were always away for work—but their sudden return warmed her heart. The house was filled with laughter and the glow of candles, yet an unspoken tension lingered beneath it all.

That night, after the celebration, Sarah went to her room, humming softly as she admired her birthday gifts. Meanwhile, in the living room, her parents sat in silence, their smiles gone.

"Sarah's eighteen now," her mother finally said, her voice trembling. "It's time to tell her the truth."

Her father's hands tightened around his teacup. "How can we?" he asked quietly. "How do we tell her something like that? She's our daughter…"

"It breaks my heart too," her mother whispered, tears welling in her eyes. "But we can't keep hiding it. The time has come."

Her mother turned toward the third person sitting across from them—Lucas, his silver eyes gleaming faintly in the dim light.

"What do you think?" she asked softly.

Lucas rose slowly from his chair. His voice was calm but carried weight. "She's your daughter," he said. "A daughter born from a demon… and a holy knight."

The room fell silent. Sarah's mother froze, her breath catching. Though she had known this moment would come, hearing it aloud still cut deep.

Once, she had been a demon princess—exiled from her world for falling in love with a holy knight. Together, they left the realm where they were no longer welcomed and built a new life in this world, far from war and hatred.

Lucas's gaze hardened. "Your daughter inherited both of your powers. Now that she's come of age, those powers will soon awaken. When they do… she'll start to remember who she truly is."

Sarah's father lowered his head, gripping his hands tightly. "Then we don't have much time," he murmured. "If others find out before she does…"

Lucas nodded. "That's why I came back. I'll protect her—but you must prepare her for what's coming."

Upstairs, unaware of their words, Sarah sat by her window, bathed in moonlight. For some reason, her heart ached, as if something deep within her was calling out.

The next day, Sarah went to school. To her surprise, she saw Lucas standing by the classroom door, casually chatting with a few classmates—as if nothing had happened.

When their eyes met, Lucas smiled slightly and waved. "Hey."

Sarah blinked, startled. He's acting like everything's normal?

Her chest tightened with annoyance. Was she the only one who couldn't forget that night—the monsters, the fear, the confusion?

Determined not to show how she felt, she turned away and ignored him.

During class, Sarah began to feel strange. Her body grew heavy, a faint burning sensation spreading through her chest and arms. It wasn't painful—just uncomfortably warm, like fire running quietly beneath her skin.

Maybe it's just fatigue, she thought, trying to focus on her notes.

Lucas, sitting beside her, noticed immediately. His expression darkened slightly as he glanced at her trembling hands.

It's starting, he thought. Sarah's mana… she has two types. Demonic and holy. But they're not balanced—her demonic power is much stronger. If she doesn't learn to control them soon, the imbalance could consume her.

He clenched his fists under the desk. If that happens, she could lose control—and become dangerous even to herself.

Lucas Angelo, the second prince of the Angelo Empire, was only nine years old when he learned something strange about his family.

He had always admired his uncle, Damian Angelo—the third prince and once a legendary holy knight, celebrated as a hero across the empire. But five years ago, everything changed. Overnight, Damian was stripped of his title as both knight and prince. The man once praised as a savior was now branded a traitor.

Curious and unable to ignore the whispers, young Lucas went to his grandfather—the former emperor—to ask about his third uncle, the one who had been "adopted" into the family. But the old emperor avoided the topic completely, his expression dark and unreadable.

That only made Lucas more determined.

He snuck into the grand temple, hoping to ask the holy knights about Damian. But the moment he mentioned the name, the knights' faces turned pale. One of them quickly hushed him, whispering that even speaking Damian's name was forbidden—it was a crime punishable by expulsion from the temple.

Frustrated, Lucas realized he wouldn't find the truth that easily. So, he turned to something far more dangerous.

He stole a magic book from the imperial library archives.

For nights, he practiced ancient summoning spells, desperate to uncover what had happened to his uncle. But the spells were far too advanced for a boy his age.

Still, he didn't give up.

One night, he found a spell that seemed incomplete—half-erased, written in faded ink. Ignoring the warnings scribbled in the margins, Lucas decided to try it.

A blinding light filled the room. The air crackled with energy, shaking the ground beneath him.

When the light finally dimmed, Lucas gasped.

Standing in front of him was not a demon… not an angel…

but a small, chubby girl with long pink hair and crimson-red eyes—staring back at him in confusion.

Lucas froze.

The spell he cast wasn't supposed to summon a person.

It was supposed to be a teleportation spell .

" Who are you ? "
