The wheels of the wheelchair turned smoothly over the thick carpets as Noah navigated his way out of his bedroom.
He had only just crossed the threshold when he nearly bumped into Mrs. Damson, who was standing right outside his door.
The older woman beamed at him, her face radiating a genuine warmth that always made Noah feel a little more at home in the vast, intimidating mansion.
"Mr. Noah, you are finally awake," she said, her voice full of maternal care.
"Your breakfast is ready. In fact, it has been ready for quite some time now. When we came into the medical wing earlier this morning to check on you, Mr. Adam was very firm."
"He stopped us from waking you, insisting that you needed every minute of rest you could get. I assumed you would be ready to eat by now, which is exactly why I was coming to find you."
Noah felt a small, involuntary smile tug at the corners of his lips.
