Noah smiled warmly at the immediate shift.
"I accidentally left my own mobile phone upstairs in the bedroom, so I decided to borrow his phone for a few minutes to return your call."
"Ah, that is completely fine, my dear son,"
Esther replied warmly, her voice instantly turning soft with genuine parental care.
"I hope you are doing okay tonight, though."
Noah's eyebrows raised slightly, wondering why Esther was asking such a pointed question.
However, he maintained his calm composure and answered smoothly. "I am doing completely fine, Mom. I am perfectly okay, I promise."
Esther let out a heavy, frustrated sigh over the line.
"I saw all the horrific ruckus and drama circulating online earlier today, Noah. How on earth can those terrible, wicked people claim to be your real parents? Are you absolutely certain they did not just pick you up from a random street corner somewhere when you were a baby"
