Chapter 195: Aqua Tornado!

Already exhausted from the battle with Electivire, and taking a direct hit while completely defenseless? The result was obvious. By the time Shiftry hit the ground and stopped rolling, it was already out cold.

Destroying the Forest Field would severely hamper Mega Sceptile's mobility. More importantly, it would weaken Zephyr's special ability.
Once the forest was gone, Mega Sceptile's effective combat power might be cut in half. And considering it was already struggling against Gyarados, losing half its strength would mean instant defeat.
Zephyr knew this. When the forest burned, Mega Sceptile would fall.
But if he ordered Mega Sceptile to stop fighting and put out the fire, the distraction would only lead to a faster loss.

Zephyr adopted a do-or-die attitude. He would decide the victor before the forest was completely destroyed.
His determination flowed into Mega Sceptile through their bond. With a sharp cry, the Forest Pokémon readied itself for the final clash.

Gyarados roared, water surging around her body as she charged.
Waterfall!!
Facing the charging leviathan, Mega Sceptile didn't run this time. It stomped the ground and rushed to meet her.
Both Pokémon were incredibly fast. In a breath, the distance between them closed to less than ten meters.
Suddenly, Mega Sceptile shifted its stance, leaning back low to the ground. It slid across the grass, changing direction abruptly while its speed skyrocketed.
Grassy Glide!
On Grassy Terrain, this move gained increased priority, allowing Mega Sceptile to strike first.
Seizing the initiative, Mega Sceptile slammed both hands onto the ground.
Massive, twisted tree roots, like the tentacles of a subterranean beast, erupted from the earth and lashed out at Gyarados.
Frenzy Plant!!
The ultimate Grass-type move with 150 base power. It drained immense stamina and came with a severe drawback: the user would be unable to move for a short time after using it.
But neither Zephyr nor Mega Sceptile cared about stamina or consequences anymore.
The terrifying power of Frenzy Plant tore the ground apart as the wooden tentacles slammed down toward Gyarados. Even though Flying-types took neutral damage from Grass, taking a hit from an ultimate move like this would still be devastating.
"Gyarados! Aqua Tornado!!! —"
Gyarados twisted her body in mid-air, turning to face the incoming roots. First, she spat out a Dragon Pulse.
Then, she accelerated, activating Waterfall and Protect simultaneously. As she charged, she began to spin violently. The veil of water around her turned into a whirlpool, catching the Dragon Pulse she had just fired and blending it into the vortex. The blue water turned a strange, shimmering purple!
Looking closer, one could see scales shedding from Gyarados's body and joining the swirling maelstrom.
This was the super-evolved version of her signature move, Luck's Charge! The Aqua Tornado!!
This wasn't just a simple combo of Waterfall and Protect.
It was a fusion of five moves: Waterfall, Whirlpool, Dragon Pulse, Protect, and Scale Shot!!
Scale Shot: A Dragon-type move that shoots scales to attack. It boosts Speed but lowers Defense.
A five-move combo. Just hearing it was enough to make one's scalp tingle. The power was unimaginable.
However, executing five moves at once put a massive strain on Gyarados, not to mention the dizziness from the high-speed spinning.

Roaring from within the vortex, Gyarados slammed into the Frenzy Plant.

The Aqua Tornado acted like a ruthless meat grinder. Upon contact, the massive tree trunks—thick as Gyarados's own body—were shredded into sawdust.
Mega Sceptile's pupils shrank. Seeing Gyarados tear through its ultimate attack like paper, it frantically threw up a pale green barrier.
Thanks to Zephyr's ability, the recharge time of Frenzy Plant was significantly reduced, allowing it to act just in time.
But the moment the barrier went up, the Aqua Tornado was already in its face.
BANG!!!!
Mega Sceptile watched in disbelief as its Protect barrier shattered.
Just like that... easily broken?
It didn't have time to contemplate its existence because 0.00001 seconds later, Gyarados slammed into it.
"Hayaaa!!!!"
"Scep-tile!!! —"
Although Mega Sceptile had a 4x resistance to Water, this tornado wasn't just water. It was infused with Dragon energy from Dragon Pulse and Scale Shot.
BOOM!!!
Mega Sceptile was launched like a cannonball, smashing straight into the arena's energy shield with a dull thud before sliding down to the ground.
By the time it stopped moving, everyone realized that its Mega Evolution had already dissolved mid-air.
Lying on the grass, Sceptile was motionless. It was out cold.
"Sceptile is unable to battle! Gyarados wins the round!!"
"Return! Sceptile!!"
Zephyr recalled his partner, his brow furrowed deeply.
With Sceptile down, Zephyr only had one Pokémon left: Whimsicott.
The forest was mostly destroyed. His special ability was fading. The outcome was already decided.
Just as everyone expected him to send out Whimsicott for a final stand, Zephyr slowly raised his hand.
"I forfeit..."
