Chapter 84 - Chapter 84 — This Is Only the Tip of the Iceberg of the Omni-Code Elders!

( Part 1)

(Author note: earlier text corrected — Darlonbell searched Superfactorial, not Equation.)

During your End Phase, I activate the effect of Furnace of the Silver Castle in my hand.

Once per turn, I can send this card from my hand or field to the GY, discard 1 card, and set 1 'Welcome Labrynth' Spell/Trap from my hand or Deck to my field.

I choose to set a second Big Welcome Labrynth.

My turn — draw! The Mimic Illusionist spoke.

He glanced at the drawn card and immediately acted in the Draw Phase:

I flip my set, Big Welcome Labrynth!

I Special Summon one monster from my hand, Deck, or GY, then return one monster on the field to the hand!"

"I Special Summon Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle from the Deck —

Then I return the same Lovely Labrynth to my hand!"

Lovely Labrynth's effect, Chain 1!

When a Normal Trap causes a monster to leave the field, I can, without targeting, either destroy a card on your field or randomly discard one card from your hand!

Chain 2 — in the GY, Labrynth Chandraglier!

If a Normal Trap makes a monster leave the field, I can return this card from the GY to my hand!"

"And Chain 3 — Furnace of the Silver Castle!

If a Normal Trap makes a monster leave the field, I can Special Summon this card from the GY!"

Watching the opponent stack his three effects, You Ye smirked, then instantly added to the chain.

Chain 4 — I flip Infinite Impermanence, targeting your Lovely Labrynth to negate her effects until the end of the turn.

"And we're not done.

Chain 5 — Code Breaker Fire Wall Dragon's Burning Soul effect.

I pay 1000 LP to draw one card!"

Neither side added more to the chain.

Effects resolve in reverse order:

Chain 5: You Ye draws 1.

Chain 4: Impermanence resolves — Lovely Labrynth's effects are negated.

Chain 3: Furnace Special Summons itself.

Chain 2: Chandraglier returns to the hand.

Chain 1: Lovely Labrynth's effect is negated, so it fizzles.

So you really did have an Impermanence, huh?

Seeing his Lovely Labrynth negated, the Mimic Illusionist wasn't surprised.

His gaze shifted to You Ye's three remaining unflipped backrow.

One was the face-up Mathmech Superfactorial.

The other two… far more dangerous because he didn't know what they were.

And anything unknown must be assumed lethal.

He looked at his hand, reorganized his lines, then continued.

I activate Clock Tower of the Silver Castle from my hand.

Send it to the GY — until the end of this turn, I may activate one set Normal Trap the turn it was Set.

Yuye grinned.

Let's not do that.

Chain 2 — I flip Called by the Grave, targeting your Clock Tower in the GY.

I banish it, and until the end of your next turn, its effects — and the effects of any card with the same original name — are negated.

The chain resolves:

Called by banishes Clock Tower; its effect was negated

Clock Tower's effect fizzles

Called by…? The Mimic Illusionist murmured.

He wasn't shocked — in this challenge space, any card could appear, and You Ye was well-known to be encyclopedic.

But even if he expected it, this one hurt.

Called by the Grave plus a live Superfactorial meant You Ye could summon Tri-Heart Laplace (Primathmech Laplacian) at any moment.

If he didn't handle that properly, he'd be wiped.

I activate Arianna the Labrynth Servant from my hand.

If a 'Labrynth' card or Normal Trap is activated, I can Special Summon her from the hand in Defense Position—

Nope.

We're not doing that either.

Chain 2 — I flip my Counter Trap Cynet Conflict.

Since I have a 'Code Talker' monster, I negate your effect and banish your Arianna.

And until the end of your next turn, you can't activate effects of cards with the same original name as the banished card."

A Code Talker COUNTER TRAP!?

The moment the Counter Trap flipped, cold sweat hit the Mimic Illusionist's back.

He finally understood why Yuye hadn't stopped Big Welcome earlier — the moment he was reduced to only one hidden card, Cynet Conflict would completely lock him down.

He ended up feeding his own monster into a two-turn banish-lock.

The chain resolves:

Arianna is negated and banished

Arianna's effect fizzles

I suddenly understand why Senior Yuye didn't extend his combo earlier…

Tian Yingye exhaled in realization.

Tian Nan nodded.

Even with one good generic hand trap and one Counter Trap, no one could move against Yuye this turn.

The Mimic Illusionist gathered his thoughts, breathed out, and continued:

The duel wasn't over.

There was still a sliver of hope.

I set one card.

Then I discard 1 card to activate Labrynth Chandraglier—

Set 1 'Labrynth' Trap from my Deck.

You Ye immediately responded.

Chain 2 — I flip Mathmech Superfactorial.

I target Sigma, Diameter, and Subtraction in my GY, revive them, then Xyz Summon."

No further chains.

Effects resolve:

Superfactorial revives three Mathmechs and Xyz Summons Primathmech Laplacian

Chandraglier sets Welcome Labrynth

"Primathmech Laplacian — on Xyz Summon, I detach 2 materials.

Without targeting, I send 1 monster and 1 Trap on your field to the GY.

"I sent your newly set Welcome Labrynth and your Lovely Labrynth.Seeing this, the Mimic Illusionist ended his turn.

( Part 2)

Yuye drew for a turn.

His eyes drifted toward the Mimic Illusionist's final facedown card.

After a glance, he looked at his hand and calmly entered Main Phase 1.

"Firewall Dragon – Burning Soul effect again. I draw 1."

Then—

I activate Mathmech Subtraction in my hand, targeting my Primathmech Laplacian.

It loses 1000 ATK and Subtraction Special Summons itself.

For the rest of this turn, I can only Special Summon Cyberse monsters.

Next—

I take Fire Wall Code Talker, Primathmech Laplacian, and Subtraction as Link Materials.

Yuye pointed toward the sky.

The mysterious currents of the universe surge, weaving infinite power into the star of miracles—

Link Summon!

Come forth—

Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz!!

At the declaration, the duel arena transformed—

The space was filled with endless starlight, and an immense, multicolored dragon descended like a cosmic storm.

Tian Yingye blinked.

…Senior You Ye made a Link–5 like this? Didn't he need a second 'Splash Mage' to extend?

Everyone knew that Link–5 bosses were normally made by climbing through Link–2 → Link–3 → Link–4.

But You Ye simply summoned one extender and jumped straight into a Link–5.

That made no sense—

Unless he already had lethal secured.

Tian Nan sighed.

You Ye's being cautious. He's testing the back row.

If he can OTK, great.

If not, he leaves it for Main Phase 2 to build a full board.

He paused.

But Darkfluid – Neo Tempest doesn't have piercing damage…

Doesn't negate Spells/Traps…

So how is he planning to break through?

Before he could finish the thought—

"I activate Mathmech Equation with my hand.

I revive Diameter, and it gains 1000 ATK until the end of the turn."

Battle Phase, You Ye declared.

Immediately—

"I flip my set card!

Welcome Labrynth!

I Special Summon one 'Labrynth' monster from the Deck!"

The Mimic Illusionist's voice was trembling, but also excited.

He had seen the line!

He would summon Lady Labrynth, then, after Welcome resolved, because he controlled a Level 8 or higher Labrynth monster, Big Welcome could bounce one of You Ye's monsters.

Then Lady's effect would trigger again to destroy one of Yuye's cards.

A full punishment.

"Oh… so that's your plan."

Yuye's expression softened into something like pity.

He had seen the entire line from the moment the Welcome flipped.

After Welcome Summoned Lady Labrynth, Big Welcome would bounce.

After the bounce, in the GY Big Welcome's effect triggers again.

Lady would trigger again.

It was a strong line.

But—

It only worked if Yuye had not been holding this card the whole time.

The Mimic Illusionist proudly explained,

"You get it now, huh? This one bounce, one pop, and I rebuild my advantage immediately!"

You know… You Ye said lightly,

If it weren't for your play last turn, I would have been forced to eat a Big Welcome bounce."

The Mimic Illusionist froze.

W–What…?

Even the spectators blinked.

Tian Yingye and Tian Nan both frowned, trying to understand.

Only one person understood instantly.

Think about Lady Labrynth's first effect, You Ye said gently.

What is it?

Lady Labrynth's 1st effect:

Your opponent cannot activate monster effects in response to your Normal Trap Cards.

The Mimic Illusionist recited it automatically—

Opponent cannot chain monster effects to my Normal Traps…

Then—

His eyes widened.

Zhang Ji slapped his thigh.

Ash Blossom!!

Because of Lady Labrynth's effect, You Ye couldn't chain Ash Blossom when Big Welcome activated last turn—

So Ash stayed in his hand!

The Mimic Illusionist felt his heart stop.

If You Ye had been holding Ash Blossom, then…

Any attempt to rebuild the Labrynth engine this turn—

Would die.

And then—

Everything that followed:

Big Welcome → Lady bounce → Lady pop → recursion

—would collapse instantly.

Correct, You Ye said.

Then he revealed it.

I chain Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Your Welcome Labrynth is negated.

The Mimic Illusionist stared blankly.

He had lost.

He wasn't dead yet—

But he had lost.

There's… still the next turn… he muttered, though he didn't believe it himself.

You Ye smiled.

No.

The moment Ash resolved—

The duel ended.

Before the Illusionist could react—

I activate Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest's effect.

I send Mathmech Multiplication from my Extra Deck to the GY.

Darkfluid gains that monster's Attribute and—

gains 2500 ATK.

Everyone watching instantly realized—

If he's sending Multiplication…

Then the next effect would—

I sent Mathmech Multiplication to the GY.

Multiplication's effect triggers—

Target 1 Cyberse monster in the Extra Monster Zone.

Its ATK becomes double its current ATK until the end of the turn.

Target: Darkfluid – Neo Tempest.

Darkfluid ATK:

3000 → 5500 → 11000

Silence.

Even Tian Nan and Zhang Ji said nothing.

This duel had been one-sided from start to finish.

The Mimic Illusionist simply never had a turn where he could act freely.

Yuye's board control, hand traps, and Counter Traps were overwhelming.

With a final direct attack,

Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz ended the duel.

Post-Duel

I want to know…

The Mimic Illusionist asked quietly.

In that last battle phase…

If you hadn't had Ash Blossom—

Would my line have worked?

No.

You Ye answered immediately.

I had battle-phase monster-effect negation,

and I could set up a Spell/Trap negate as well.

At most, you'd summon Lady Labrynth, or her Battle Mode.

No bouncing. No popping.

He shrugged.

"I wouldn't OTK you that turn, sure.

But living one more turn would only make it worse.

My follow-up was huge.

I had Firewall Guardian in hand."

The Mimic Illusionist went silent.

Even without Ash Blossom—

Yuye still had two more layers of defense.

What kind of Cyberse deck was this!?

Zhang Ji shivered.

Not because of You Ye—

But because of Tian Nan.

He knew Tian Nan would receive this entire deck,

and with it—

He might actually reach King rank.

He looked horrified.

Seems someone's not very happy for me?

Tian Nan put a hand around Zhang Ji's shoulders.

Would you believe me if I said I was happy…?

Of course! After all, we've known each other for nearly a century!

Tian Nan grinned.

Get off me.

Zhang Ji shoved him away.

Then he approached You Ye.

Master You Ye—here is your Instant Fusion. Please accept it.

You Ye accepted the card with satisfaction.

His Tearlaments deck grew more complete.

If this had been an original-print Instant Fusion, he'd run three copies for maximum power.

Master Yuye, about the task you agreed to earlier…

I think you'll want to hear this.

Oh?

We Gamblers received intel last night—

news of the Xianming (Nethersever) Field Spell.

More precisely—

the location of the original core card.

You Ye's eyes sharpened.

Where?

Egypt.

Exact location unknown.

If this intel proves correct, may it substitute for the task request?

If wrong, our deal for a free task still stands.

That's acceptable.

Agreement reached.

Mathmech Spirit — Kneeling

After they left, Tian Nan and Tian Yingye asked:

Senior You Ye, should I summon the Mathmech spirit now?

You can.

But do you need me to demonstrate the 3-4-5-6 lines again?

If so, I'll duel Tian Nan again.

No need, Tian Nan answered quickly.

One Link–3 and one Link–5 already show plenty.

Just teach us the build and the formulas later.

Alright.

Tian Yingye began calling the Mathmech spirits.

Unexpectedly—

Circular appeared.

Kneeling on one knee.

Honored human Duelist.

On behalf of the Mathmech Field spirits, allow me to serve as your loyal subordinate.

You Ye blinked.

…Subordinate?

Not my Field Spirit?

Circular bowed deeply.

We Mathmechs are strong—

But nowhere near the level of the 'Cyberse Elders' you used.

Even if you gather our full archetype, it will never be among your top three…

or even the top five strongest decks.

With such modest strength…

How dare we claim equality?

Yuye considered, then nodded.

Fair enough.

If they wished to serve, he would not pretend otherwise.

Circular lowered his head further.

Then, on behalf of the Mathmech Field,

please accept all our cards

and command our field from this day forward.

Data and code swirled around Yuye—

and cards began materializing in his hands.

A full stack.

The complete Mathmech archetype.

And with it, authority over the Field.

No one will receive Mathmech cards without your permission, the Circular continued.

Except one: that King Road Duelist outside.

Good.

I don't want Mathmechs becoming too common."

As you command.

Muning asked softly:

You're using Tian Nan… to test the full power of the Cyberse Elders, aren't you?

You Ye smiled.

Yes.

Now that the bond is stronger, I want to see what the true Elders can do.

It'll help me refine the deck later."

He looked toward the duel room door—

as if seeing Tian Nan through it—

And his smile grew wicked.
