"Are you upset with me?" Soren's voice carried that familiar casual tone as he glanced my way, then returned his attention to carefully switching hands while tending to my injury.
I had to be honest with myself - I wasn't typically someone who got swept away by attractive faces or intense moments.
The medicine coursing through my system must have been responsible for the unusual flutter I experienced whenever I studied this man's features.
When Soren confirmed his anger, my instinct was to yank my hand away from his grip. If he was truly furious with me, why bother with this careful treatment of my wound? We had no audience present, so what performance was this supposed to be?
"Stay still, we're almost finished. This won't take much longer."
Soren spoke in gentle tones while breathing softly across my injured skin.
Each movement he made, every look he gave me radiated such warmth that losing myself in the moment seemed inevitable.
