Flora shot Cobb a look filled with distrust. "What does any of this have to do with Soren?"
Cobb kept his face blank as he answered, "Mom, we should head home first. I can explain everything once we get there."
Flora shoved his hand away from her arm and fixed him with a fierce glare. "Cobb, this engagement needs to end immediately. This entire situation has exploded beyond control, and now the family elders are involved. How can Ivana possibly remain in our family after what happened? We need to protect her reputation."
I leaned casually against the doorframe, my voice carrying a mocking tone. "Wait, didn't you all claim Ivana had disappeared? Strange how quickly that story changed to worrying about her place in your precious family."
The truth was, I had already anticipated that Ivana wouldn't go quietly. What caught me off guard was watching Ivana manipulate Flora into becoming her attack dog.
