What a Relief.
That's what I was hoping to say before going to sleep in my bed. But the curse of nights ending in chaos is still prevailing somehow.
I stood next to Rias and the rest of the peerage, looking at the unconscious forms of Exorcist Duo. They were wrecked beyond repair, half of their battle attire was torn and covered up in multiple sword slash wounds all over their body.
"What on earth happened to these two?"
A few hours had passed since I captured Valper within Infinity Castle, and they already ended up in this state? Did my actions mess the plot and lead to this state of them?
"When we saw a magical barrier in here, we came here as fast as we could. But it looks like we were too late"
Thanks to Asia's expertise with her sacred gear, Xenovia's condition improved at a visible pace, her eyes fluttered open and her mouth trembled, as she mustered every bit of her strength to speak.
"Please... save... her....."
The dread in her eyes and voice was far too much for Asia to see, as she clasped her hands to calm her nerves, and then continued to heal the one who wished to eliminate her.
Before she could get some more words out another teleportation circle appeared with the logo of the Sitri. Sona and her queen stepped out of it with a sense of urgency.
"This...."
Sona knelt down toward Xenovia while her queen stood by her side dutifully.
"This looks quite concerning, while Asia managed to heal her wounds, they both seem to be suffering from sheer exhaustion and the severe wounds. It would take too long to heal-"
"Take them to my home" I interjected as everyone looked at me "There will be no better treatment for them than Phoenix Tears"
Sona nodded and then looked at Tsubaki as she got up. Getting the cue, her queen picked up both half dead exorcists and teleported to my home, without wasting a second.
"Who could be behind this?" Sona said in concern.
Her answer was given quickly and painfully when the entire area was covered by a barrier in an instant.
Woosh!
The sound of wings flapping caught our attention as all of us collectively turned our eyes to a very tall man and pointy ears, staring down at us with a malevolent grin. He had jet-black straight hair, pale skin, blood-red sclera, and a long flowing robe over his large body.
Five pairs of jet-black wings on his back was enough for everyone to understand the level of threat this man carried.
"Why is a Cadre....in our town?"
Sona muttered to herself as the man stared down at us, seemingly with amusement as he laughed to himself.
"The sheer audacity of these two to challenge me truly baffled me. Tch. What an utter waste of time" He then turned his attention to Sona, then to Rias "We have never met before, have we? My name is Kokabiel"
Rias moved forward, with far too much confidence than she should in this situation as she puffed up her chest.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. May I know why you are here?"
Kokabiel simply grinned as he crossed his arms in amusement.
"That crimson red hair, just like your brother. How sickening"
Then, he narrowed his eyes but Rias seemed completely undeterred. She must be either scared to death in her head or she is just way too confident in dealing with someone, who was far stronger than Riser.
She didn't learn anything after the Rating Game, did she?
"Why did you decide to visit Kuoh? We don't remember inviting a Cadre here for a visit in our town"
Kokabiel's grin was now replaced by a roar of laughter. He threw his arms in the air as if he was about to bomb us with implications which will totally bring doom upon us. And my guess was correct.
"That's right, I got bored so I decided to have some fun around here. I figured if I ran wild in your headquarters Sirzechs or at least Serafall would have to come running. Right?"
This makes me wonder if Rias was suffering from the same delusion as this guy, who thinks it will be a good idea to pick a fight with someone, way out of his league and have full confidence in winning it.
Even Rias seemed shaken by this, and so did everyone.
"But... that would restart the great war!"
"Of course I know that already, that's why I am doing all of this in the first place! When I stole the Excaliburs I expected Micheal or Gabriel to come retrieve them, but instead, they only sent two ignorant runts armed with Excaliburs of their own"
Rias's eyes widened.
"But why would you want to restart the Great War?"
Kokabiel sneered at her as if his intentions were way too obvious.
"It's because...I just couldn't stand the boredom!"
"Moron"
He seemed to hear my insult as he glanced at me but didn't bother to interrupt his speech and continued as if I was just as insignificant as the unconscious exorcist duo.
"The stagnation after the Great War, no thrill could satiate me . Neither Azazel nor Shemhazai seemed interested in starting another war so I took it in my own hands. Instead of claiming glory for our race he instead is busying himself with sacred gears and his collection"
At this moment, I was convinced that peace will never be achieved neither in this realm nor in any realm. No matter how much I or anyone will bring the order in all of the realms, there will always be someone who would put everything in chaos.
"So I thought, why not head for the devils to start it? If the two devil heiresses and sisters of Satans were killed in their own town Serafall and Sirzechs would have no choice but to start the war"
"It will be glorious! It will shatter the fragile peace between the factions!"
"Hahahahaha!!!"
His words striked fear in everyone as none of them seemed to accept that someone could go to such lengths just because they were bored? And above all, it wasn't some stray or low rank fallen angels group, it was the fucking Cadre. He held the strength rivalled Satan Class Devils and he was someone who survived the Great War in past.
"Let's start a war! I'll be waiting for you all at your headquarters, what better place to kill you all than there? Of course, try to escape and I would destroy this town and every human in here!"
With that, he was gone, flying off so fast we could barely catch a glimpse of him.
If it wasn't for Rias and everyone present here, I would've fought with him right here in my assault mode. While I did say to Riser that my this mode rivalled Ultimate Class but I am not sure if it will be enough to put someone like Kokabiel on the losing end.
Only time will tell.
Rias and Sona exchanged looks, as they exchanged a few words about contacting their brother and sister respectively. With a sigh, Rias agreed to ask for Sirzechs help and got a reply within a few seconds that his forces will arrive in an hour.
I wish I would have someone to hold my back like that.
"Sona kaichou, you and your peerage handle maintaining barriers to keep the town safe. We would try to buy some time until the forces arrive, right Buchou?"
Rias nodded and then glanced at Sona who agreed to it as well. After all, the damage to ensure safety of town and it's people, while fighting a Cadre was going to be a collective effort from both devil heirs.
"Everyone, we are going!"
I clenched my fist, barely concealing my excitement. A high ranking character card was on the way and fighting against Kokabiel will definitely not be a disappointment. When it came to big trouble and challenges, the system never held back in giving me the best out of the best rewards.
We got covered by a magical circle to teleport us to the academy while Sona, went to her peerage, for ensuring the barriers stand the onslaught that was promised ahead.
When the crimson glow consumed us, sending to the school grounds, we found Kokabiel sitting languidly on a floating throne. Under it, a boy of our age with a similar manic grin was holding Durandal in his hand, with multiple stolen Excalibur swords strapped on his back.
"So which one of the Satans is arriving? Is it Sirzechs or Serafall?"
"None. We'll be your opponents!" Rias said, stepping forward in front of us as Kokabiel smirked, clearly enjoying the developments so far.
"It seems you are not seeing the difference between us, the sister of Sirzechs"
Kokabiel casually created a spear of light, its size and appearance leagues above Raynare and her group, and tossed it away at the gymnasium.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
What followed next was a miniature nuclear explosion.
It completely annihilated the gymnasium while creating an explosion of light that reached in every direction and shockwaves that nearly knocked everyone off their feet.
"I don't think you all will last long if I get up, so why don't you play with my pets and this fellow in the meantime?"
With a flick of fingers, magical circles on the ground lit up, summoning two Cerebrus that appeared from the sea of flames.
Everyone got on their guard nervously as I cracked my knuckles, then looked up at the twin Cerebrus standing in front of Kokabiel and anonymous Holy Sword User and then summoned LostVayne in my hand, stepping into the Assault Mode as I grinned.
I waited so long for this moment!
