Chapter 103 - Chapter 102: Rock Bay Town Monastery

Ilena did not refute Kanna's criticism, because before becoming an Inquisitor, she, too, wondered why they couldn't explain things clearly to the populace. But after visiting the prison, she understood the terror of the Abyssal Church.

Even a tiny bit of weakness or hesitation could lead to the danger of infiltration. Therefore, to ensure the purity of the Inquisitor corps and minimize the chances of Inquisitors being corrupted or polluted, they had no choice but to make decisions that completely severed ties with the populace.

"Uh, where am I?" At this moment, the unconscious girl woke up.

"We are currently in Rock Bay Town, and we'll reach the Monastery in a few minutes. There's no easily digestible food in the car, so we'll have them prepare some for you once we arrive at the Monastery," Ilena said.

"Rock Bay Town Monastery, I see… still… can't escape…" She didn't voice the last few words, but Kanna, who had been watching her lips, understood her lip-reading.

Her face was only pale from weakness, and after a flicker of disappointment in her eyes, only determination remained, so Ilena, who was beside her, did not notice anything unusual.

Soon, the car arrived at the Monastery. Upon entering, they saw only a few scattered people inside, and their expressions seemed somewhat flustered.

When they saw the car enter, the few people inside exchanged glances, then one person walked into the Monastery while the others gathered around.

"Hello, this is Rock Bay Town Monastery. Is there anything we can help you with?" one of them asked.

"Hello, this is my identification. This lady and I have some matters to attend to in Rock Bay Town, and we hope the Monastery can arrange two rooms for us. Also, we encountered an unconscious girl on the road; she appears to be one of yours, so we brought her back." As she spoke, Ilena kept her eyes fixed on the other person's.

Upon first receiving Ilena's identification and realizing that the person in front of her was an Inquisitor, the person's expression became somewhat nervous. But upon seeing the girl in the car, her expression shifted from nervousness to surprise.

"Dona, everyone has been so worried since you went missing two days ago. The choir members have been searching for you all over town. Thank goodness you're back…"

Her expression was solely joyful, without any other emotions mixed in, which made Ilena lower her guard.

As for the initial nervousness, no ordinary person in Iberia wouldn't be nervous when facing an Inquisitor, so she simply ignored it.

"Lucy, I'm fine, thanks to these kind people I met," the girl named Dona said with a weak smile, nodding to the people outside.

"Miss Dona is very weak from not eating for a long time. Does the Monastery have any rice porridge? It would be best to get her some," Kal'tsit said, opening the car window.

Ms. Lucy, the leader, immediately instructed the nearest person, "The Monastery happens to provide porridge to the poor residents of the town every day; there's fresh white porridge inside."

"Sister, sister, can I have a bowl too!" Kanna said, extending her small hand.

"Of course, you can. Katie, quickly go to the kitchen and bring two bowls of white porridge."

Upon hearing Lucy's words, Katie quickly walked towards a building not far from the Monastery.

Led by Lucy, the car stopped in an open area within the Monastery. Lucy pointed to the nearby building and said, "This is the Monastery's dormitory. The third floor is where our nuns sleep. Dona doesn't look too well; perhaps you could entrust her to us, and we'll take her back to her dormitory."

"Sister doesn't look like she's only been hungry for two days. Kal'tsit happens to be a top doctor, so why don't we let Kal'tsit take a look first?" Seeing Lucy about to take Dona away, Kanna spoke up.

Hearing Kanna's words, Kal'tsit quietly walked over to Dona and began to examine her. As if sensing she had been a bit too hasty, Lucy also nodded.

"No problem, Dona's health has never been very good in the choir. It would be wonderful if Doctor Kal'tsit could cure Dona."

As the group chatted, the woman named Katie walked over with two bowls of white porridge. The Monastery's main gate on the other side also opened, and several monks rushed out.

The person at the very front had initially seemed somewhat agitated, but upon seeing Ilena in her Inquisitor attire, they paused.

Then they resumed walking towards them.

When Katie walked nearby, Kanna deliberately blocked her path, then took the bowl of white porridge from her hand, sniffed it, and handed it to Kal'tsit behind her.

"The white porridge is here, the temperature is suitable, you can drink it directly…"

Kal'tsit took the porridge and silently handed it to Dona. Kanna's words seemed innocuous, but they actually informed Kal'tsit that the other party had not tampered with the white porridge.

Taking the other portion, Kanna happily thanked the other person, then hid her small face behind the large bowl, her eyes watching the approaching people.

"Greetings, I am Brother Glynn, the abbot of this Monastery. May I ask how we can assist you, Inquisitor? We, the Rock Bay Town Monastery, from top to bottom, will do our utmost."

Brother Glynn, who claimed to be the abbot, looked very calm, and the fire in his eyes was so eager.

"That won't be necessary. We merely need to stay at the Monastery for a few days, and we hope Abbot Glynn can forgive our intrusion," Ilena calmly declined his offer of help.

"No problem, assisting an Inquisitor in their duties is the responsibility of every Iberian. I will immediately have someone clear out two empty rooms for you. How about the first floor?" Although Ilena rejected his suggestion, his enthusiasm did not wane.

"That won't be necessary. I heard from Sister Katie that the third floor is the nuns' dormitory. We are all women, so arranging us on the third floor would be just fine."

Certainly, the first floor offered convenient access, but from before entering Rock Bay Town until now, Ilena had a very strange feeling. So she decided to place their temporary residence on the third floor where the nuns rested, which would facilitate her gathering information from the nuns' daily activities and lives.

"Uh! No problem, Katie, the accommodation for the Inquisitor and her friends is entirely your responsibility." Despite being rejected twice, Abbot Glynn's expression remained normal. He turned and instructed Katie, who had been assisting Kal'tsit's group.

"Yes, Abbot!" Katie bowed slightly and walked to Ilena's side.

After Kanna and Dona finished eating, led by Katie, the group arrived on the third floor.

Under Katie's arrangements, Ilena stayed in a single room, while Kal'tsit and Kanna stayed next door. On the other side of their room were Dona and Lucy's rooms, and Katie's room was on Ilena's other side.
