Chapter 108 - Chapter 107: Monastery Uprising

"Listen to the Inquisitor, everyone gather downstairs!" Accompanied by Dean Green's weak words, everyone hurriedly went downstairs.

Soon, the platform downstairs was filled with nearly fifty people from the entire Monastery, from monks to gardeners, cooks, and stable hands.

At this moment, a figure walked towards the dormitory, but before she had taken two steps, a sword light cut across the ground in front of her feet, stopping her there.

"Didn't I say everyone should gather in the square, Ms. Lucy? What are you trying to do?" Ilena looked over with a stern gaze.

Seeing Ilena's murderous eyes, Lucy panicked a little. She looked at the sword tip almost pointing at her nose and swallowed. "I, I just saw that Dona wasn't here, and didn't you say everyone should gather downstairs? So I wanted to go up and bring her down, yes, that's it!"

"Dona doesn't need your concern. You just need to take care of yourself." Saying this, Ilena glanced around. Most people lowered their heads when their eyes met hers.

At this point, everyone had gathered, and even those who were initially confused now knew about the bloody murders that had just occurred in front of this dormitory and in the stairwell. For a moment, the crowd was somewhat restless.

"Quiet!" With a wave of her longsword, accompanied by Ilena's low roar, the crowd quieted down.

"Ilena!" At this moment, Kanna's voice came from upstairs. Everyone looked up and saw Kanna holding a lantern, standing on the edge of the balcony. When she saw Ilena look over, she threw the lantern down.

Ilena braced her legs and leaped into the air, catching the lantern steadily with a very relaxed and graceful posture. She nodded to Kanna above her, then her face became serious again as she looked at the crowd.

"Everyone should know about the murder that just happened. Yes, it wasn't an accident, it was a murder. Dangerous cultists have infiltrated our ranks. He threw a nun from upstairs to her death, and two others were killed by him in the stairwell. The methods were extremely cruel. But fortunately, I was not far away. Although I didn't catch sight of him, he certainly wouldn't have had time to escape the Monastery in such a short period. So, he must still be among the crowd."

Since the bodies were still nearby, it was impossible to conceal. So, Ilena simply took the opportunity to spin a narrative, pinning the blame for the two "Abyssal Cultist" nuns on a non-existent person, and using this as a reason to seal off the entire Monastery.

Upon hearing Ilena's words, the "Abyssal Church" believers hiding in the crowd were bewildered. After all, among the three dead, besides the one who fell to her death, the other two were their "compatriots." How could they kill their "compatriots" with such brutal methods?

Without even thinking, these people guessed that the two were probably discovered by the Inquisitor while committing the act, and when they tried to escape through the stairwell, they were caught and killed by the Inquisitor at the stairwell.

It was just a pity that their side hadn't anticipated the other party's swift actions, leading to no follow-up plan and allowing this hateful Inquisitor to seize the initiative.

Standing outside Dona's door, Kanna breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed Dona's breathing gradually stabilizing inside the room. Then, she walked into Ilena's room, took down the other party's lantern, and threw it down to her.

Ilena, with a longsword in one hand and a lantern in the other, indeed exuded a majestic aura, immediately subduing this group of people with various intentions.

Upon hearing Ilena's declaration below, she couldn't help but show a strange expression, "Indeed, only those who wrong you truly know how wronged you are."

She couldn't help but admire Ilena for reacting so quickly and devising a means of control to bring the Monastery under her command.

Among the gathered crowd, several people stood together after a series of position changes.

"What's going on?"

"Damn it, why did we alarm the Inquisitor?!"

Although their expressions remained normal, a few of them quietly discussed what had just happened. Before long, they pieced together the reason and couldn't help but curse.

"Lucy is such an Iberia roughneck! At such a crucial moment, she went and killed an unrelated nun, exposing our existence! I freaking want to Iberia roughneck…"

If it weren't for the public setting, with many other people around, especially the Inquisitor's gaze, they would have long since dragged Lucy out and lit her up like a sky lantern.

Lucy also guessed she had made a mistake, but she neither dared to return to the team nor defect. She could only hide on the outer edge of the crowd, hoping to survive under the Inquisitor's watchful eye.

Seeing Lucy standing fearfully outside the crowd, Ilena was still somewhat confused. From the previous situation, the other party was clearly a member of the cult, and even held a certain status. So why was she standing outside, even so close to her? Wasn't she afraid that Ilena would discover her abnormality and expose her?

If Ilena knew the reason, she would probably die laughing from anger. She never expected that she, the greatest enemy, would become the other party's lucky charm for survival.

Upstairs, Kanna opened the door and walked in after Dona had calmed down. At this moment, Dona was standing blankly by the window, looking out at the dark, vast sea, its calm surface subtly rippling.

Kanna walked over and sat beside Dona. "Kanna knows you definitely have secrets, and you don't need to tell me, because I'm not interested. But if you want to live, I suggest you tell what you know to Ilena or Kal'tsit."

"It's no use," Dona shook her head, her expression utterly forlorn.

"Do you know the Inquisitor's attitude towards people from the Abyssal Church? It's not that no one has surrendered to them, but the outcome… let's just say, although they are still alive, perhaps death is the only thing that can bring them peace."

Perhaps knowing she didn't have long to live, Dona seemed much more relaxed.

"Want to hear my story?"

Then Dona began to speak, lost in her own narrative.

She was originally a girl as ordinary as could be, whose dream was to spend her youth in a Monastery, learn a skill, marry an ordinary boy, have an ordinary family, and finally grow old ordinarily.

But reality was that by chance, she was found to possess a considerably high "talent," suitable to be a maternal vessel for those monsters to combine with humans, used to breed offspring of monsters and humans.

When she saw those disgusting monsters, she was filled with immense fear. She was unwilling to become a reproductive tool for these terrifying creatures. To escape the cage where she was imprisoned, she desperately dieted to become thin enough to slip out, and then, taking advantage of a moment of carelessness from her captors, she ran outside.
