Chapter 175 - Chapter 174: The Curtain Rises

While Zima led the students to escape outside Chernobog, Reunion Movement also discovered the situation at the school.

Mainly, several strongholds had lost contact for a long time, which immediately alerted Reunion Movement. Mephisto and Faust, along with the "Herd" and a "Ghost" squad belonging to Faust, rushed towards the school.

When they arrived, they only found the corpses of the people who had been left behind in those strongholds. Moreover, these corpses were either electrocuted into charcoal or smashed into mud. Looking at these scenes of death, even Mephisto, who enjoyed cruelty and torture, felt a trace of trepidation.

At this time, Kanna had already left. After all, she had been out for a long time, and as a "good child," Kanna knew the principle that when you've had enough fun, it's time to go home. Besides, she could observe Zima's departure all the way, so there was no need to stay by their side.

Her only regret about this outing was not catching Mephisto. If Kanna knew that Mephisto and Faust would arrive shortly after she left, she would regret it to death. If she had known, she would have stayed a bit longer and killed that crazy Mephisto there.

Upon returning to the hotel, Raidian glanced at Kanna. "Go take a shower and change your clothes. You smell entirely of blood."

Kanna scratched her head, not knowing how the other person had smelled it so quickly, and simply walked into the bathroom with an honest expression.

After she came out, Raidian didn't ask her where she went, what she did, or why she smelled so strongly of blood. She just said, "Don't go out for the next two days. No matter what happens in Chernobog, don't forget that our main goal is to rescue the Doctor. Don't make the situation too tense before Amiya and her team arrive, otherwise, those Reunion Movement people will raise their guard, which will be detrimental to our subsequent actions."

"No problem!" Kanna agreed readily.

"However, after Amiya and her team pick up the Doctor, can I go find someone?"

"If it doesn't affect our evacuation, of course it's fine. But who are you looking for?" Raidian was a bit confused about Kanna's purpose.

Kanna recounted what she knew about the events at the school. Of course, she attributed her knowledge of all this to the students inside. After hearing it, even the usually good-tempered Raidian showed an angry expression.

"I didn't expect Reunion Movement's behavior to be so egregious. Such actions certainly cannot be ignored. That Mephisto you mentioned, right? I believe with your ability, you can capture him. Don't hold back against such a severely anti-human individual. I'll write the report for Kal'tsit later."

After that, Kanna did not leave the hotel, leaving a certain mercenary leader to come up empty-handed outside, returning to his post exhausted.

In the early morning of the twenty-third, Kanna and Raidian left the hotel. At this time, the streets were filled with chaotic crowds, and the reason was simple: a Catastrophe had arrived.

Countless "meteorites" fell from the sky, breaking through the clouds and landing in the urban area. Beneath those meteorites, almost as tall as buildings, the ground structures were as fragile as toys built with blocks.

Kanna looked at the things falling from the sky and simply complained that it was unscientific.

If such huge objects were to form naturally like clouds and rain, then drift over Chernobog and fall, it wouldn't be possible. But if they came from space, for so many tens of meters tall, seemingly hundreds or thousands of tons heavy objects to fall, and Chernobog could still remain intact, without causing more impact to the surroundings, and even continue to function, that would be very much against science and common sense.

But thanks to this defying of common sense, Kanna, along with Raidian, safely survived in this "bombed" urban area.

However, Raidian's expression was still not good as she looked at the meteorites falling from the sky. This sudden wave of "meteorite" Catastrophe had destroyed nearly sixty percent of the communication base stations she had previously set up. The remaining forty percent struggled to even maintain basic communication.

"Kanna, can you hear me?" Amiya's voice came through the communicator.

"I can hear you. Amiya, have you already entered?" Kanna asked.

"Yes, due to the Catastrophe, the police and military guarding the exit have all evacuated. We have infiltrated the urban area, but the Catastrophe is still ongoing, so we have stopped at the outermost edge. We will continue to enter once the Catastrophe's danger begins to decrease." Amiya's voice sounded very excited, as this was a rare opportunity for her to lead and command so many Operators.

"Raidian and I will go repair the communication base stations to ensure smooth communication. You can take the Electro Seeds first. Don't hesitate to use them if you encounter enemies, then let me know, and I will immediately replenish them for everyone after receiving your message." Kanna's voice was intermittent. This was not only due to the damaged communication base stations but also because the Catastrophe would also widely affect the operation of electronic devices.

"Understood. We are scheduled to enter the sarcophagus in the morning, and then we will retreat according to the planned schedule. When we retreat, you can start evacuating outwards..." Amiya wanted to continue speaking, but all she heard in her earpiece was static. Clearly, Kanna and Raidian had already moved out of range.

"We must ensure smooth communication along Amiya's planned route. I just tested it, and the sarcophagus area is currently the most severely damaged. Let's go there!" Raidian pointed in the direction of the sarcophagus.

Led by Kanna, the two groped their way in the dark to the designated location around 3 AM. Raidian began inspecting the clearly damaged communication base station. "I need at least two hours to restore the signal. The security is up to you..."

Kanna patted her chest. "Don't worry, my security capabilities are much stronger than those wooden heads under Ah San..."

Raidian began emergency repairs on the equipment in front of her, while Kanna stood by, opening the Chernobog map under the Rain Tiger at Will Technique. Of the points she had marked, Zima's group had already withdrawn from Chernobog and was heading south. Kanna was very pleased with this; at least Zima's style of not doubting those she used made her happy.

A squad from Amiya's team had separated from the others and was heading towards a district near the hinterland. According to in-game speculation, this squad was likely the reconnaissance unit led by Scout. They would kill Garrison, the leader of the Reunion Movement's Sarkaz mercenary army.

Similarly, he and his squad would be completely wiped out by the pursuing Sarkaz mercenaries. Of course, that was in the game. Kanna believed that whether this crucial squad could all evacuate was the most critical factor this time.
