"The great Prinzessin der Verurteilung has descended as the whirlpool of fate itself—bearing us to our destined stage!"
"Kairo, hast thou sensed our advent?"
Fischl looked around, eyes bright with excitement. Beside her, Barbara exhaled, patting her chest. "We made it… I didn't expect teleporting to feel this wild !"
She turned, taking in the scenery. "This isn't Mondstadt. It's beautiful—must be Liyue . So Kairo's… already here?"
Before the girls' delight could crest, Qianyan Army sentries had already closed in, ringed spears bristling.
"Identify yourselves!"
"What was that light just now?!"
"How did you appear out of thin air?!"
This was a key checkpoint on the road to Liyue Harbor. Anyone entering outside official channels was subject to strict inspection. And these two had just… popped into existence on the bridge.
Fischl lifted her chin, posture regal. "Hmph! Be not alarmed, guardians. We are travelers who stride the firmament itself! By destiny's thread are we drawn hither, and we
Barbara offered a small, apologetic smile over Fischl's flourish. "S-sorry for the scare! We're from Mondstadt —we don't mean any harm!"
"Mondstadt...?" The guards traded baffled looks. Mondstadt travelers didn't teleport .
They weren't the only ones stunned. Night traffic along the causeway had witnessed the flash—merchants from Liyue, Guild adventurers in green, wanderers from every road. The orderly quiet had been cracked like a plate.
"W-what just happened?!"
"They—appeared out of nowhere, right? I didn't imagine the light?"
"That wasn't a mortal trick…" a Liyue merchant muttered, face gone pale. "Last time I saw popping-in like that, it was Abyss —those maniacs blink out of shadows… Don't tell me—"
His sentence died. At that word, the onlookers stiffened, eyes narrowing at the two girls—only
"There— Visions !"
A murmur rolled through the crowd.
A blue gem at Barbara's hip shone with a gentle, watery glow— Hydro . A violet crystal flashed on Fischl's adornments— Electro . Faces eased, wary curiosity replacing alarm.
"Vision bearers? Then they can't be Abyss."
"Right—Abyss Mages don't carry Visions…"
"But how did they teleport ?"
Even in Liyue, only certain monsters, Abyss, or—by rumor— adepti could cross space like that. These weren't adepti. They were very pretty… but definitely human.
The captain cleared his throat, cutting through the susurrus. "Whatever your method, this is a controlled crossing. Everyone is inspected."
He signaled a runner toward the message post, then addressed the girls. "If you're truly Mondstadt travelers, cooperate and there'll be no trouble."
"Hmph. We walk by the light of destiny; your vigilance is unneeded—" Fischl began.
Barbara tugged her sleeve with a gentle smile.
Fischl's lashes fluttered; she yielded with a tiny nod. "Very well. We shall bend to the cog's turn."
"Good. This way." The captain's tone eased a notch, though his stance stayed crisp. Around them, the peanut gallery hummed with unabated curiosity.
"Are you… the Deaconess of the Church of Favonius?" a guard asked as Barbara presented papers.
"The very same," Barbara said, a bit shy but steady.
That name carried weight even here. The Knights' Church was no small thing in Mondstadt—and the investigator's badge Fischl produced from the Adventurers' Guild checked
"Understood," the captain said, returning their documents. "The safest nearby rest is Wangshu Inn . We'll escort you there. If you need anything within reason, ask."
"Thank you," Barbara said, t
Carefully, she drew a photograph from her pouch: Kairo —calm, sharp-eyed.
Fischl blinked. A photo? When did Barbara… take that? Sneak-shot?
The captain leaned in, froze a fraction, then nodded. "Him—yes. Came through around midday with a blonde girl—looked like a traveler—and an… unidentified floating creature. They headed for Wangshu Inn. They should be there now—unless they've already left."
"Then he is at Wangshu Inn!" Barbara's eyes lit; excitement spilled through her smile. She clasped her hands, almost bouncing.
Fischl tossed her long hair, arms folding, grin victorious. "Behold! The Eye of Fate erred not. Kairo, thou couldst not slip thy strands from destiny's weave. Today, our bonds entwine anew!"
She lifted a hand toward the horizon, solemn as a herald. "Let the world bear witness, guardians of Liyue: the cog has turned; the script unfurls. The Prinzessin's will descends!"
The Qianyan soldiers: "…"
The squad traded helpless side-glances. Routine inspection had turned into front-row seats at… whatever this was. Two Vision bearers—both striking in different ways—had crossed half the world to find one young man. And that man… hadn't he just passed with a golden-haired beauty and a talking… UFO?
What kind of life does this guy live? one ththese . Meanwhile, this "Kairo" collected them like the moon gathers tides…
"Ahem." The captain reined the mood back in. "If you're seeking a friend, don't make a scene within Liyue's borders."
Barbara nodded quickly, warm and earnest. "Of course
Fischl flicked a strand of hair. "We are apostles of light, not turmoil. Be at ease, mortals."
The captain swallowed another sigh. "This way."
They escorted the pair along the lantern-lined path until the Wangshu Inn sign rose out of the night. At the first sight of it, Fischl and Barbara couldn't hold back—they ran, skirts and ribbons skimming moonlit boards as they crossed the last span toward reunion.
The Qianyan squad watched their silhouettes vanish up the ramp, the night's hush folding in again. Only after a long minute did the captain shake his head, turn, and lead his men back to their post.
Up on the inn's second floor, Paimon stretched wide, rubbing at drowsy eyes. "Mmm—getting late. Let's call it, Lumine? One peek at the view, then bed."
She drifted to the window, glanced down… and froze mid-air like she'd been hit by Electro.
"B-Barbara?! Fischl ?!"
Her squeak knifed the quiet. Beside her, Lumine turned, baffled—then followed Paimon's line of sight, and her expression went from calm to stunn
