Chapter 65 - Sparring

When they returned to the peak of Mount Tianheng, Morax immediately noticed the snow-white creature curled around Jiang Yan's neck.

"Wow! So cute!"

Guizhong exclaimed. She had never been able to resist adorable things—just like how she'd doted on Jiang Yan back when he was still in his juvenile form.

The other female immortals were also instantly captivated by the fluffy, snow-white mink.

Morax looked at Little White with some hesitation.

"This is... that yellow... hmm... yellow monster from before?"

Jiang Yan nodded and explained,

"That color and appearance were just camouflage. This is what it really looks like. I've already tamed it."

As he spoke, Jiang Yan grabbed the mink by the scruff and placed it in his palm.

"Ahhh, it's so cute! Let big sister pet it!"

Guizhong stepped forward quickly, reaching out to rub Little White's head.

"Impudent! How dare you touch your Grandpa Mink's head!"

Little White snapped. It only submitted to Jiang Yan; toward everyone else, it remained proudly arrogant.

Jiang Yan gave it a light pat on the head to make it behave and handed it to Guizhong.

"Don't mind what it says—it's got the worst mouth you'll ever meet."

Guizhong carefully took Little White into her arms, rubbing its soft fur.

The other female immortals gathered around, stroking its head and playing with its fluffy tail.

"Y-You... insolent mortals! Don't touch Grandpa Mink's tail!"

Even though Little White still barked and hissed, Jiang Yan could clearly see the look of enjoyment on its tiny face.

Tsk, that smug little face just begs for a slap.

Ignoring the noisy mink, Jiang Yan walked over to Morax.

"This creature is quite unusual," Morax said with a smile as Jiang Yan approached.

"If it weren't for you, I might not have caught it. The thing runs like the wind."

Jiang Yan sat down beside him, picked up Morax's teacup, and downed it in one gulp.

"As long as you caught it, that's what matters."

Morax's mouth twitched slightly as he watched. That was freshly brewed tea... wasn't it hot?

"Cloud Retainer and the others have finalized the city layout. Take a look later—if everything looks good, we'll start construction."

Morax continued.

Jiang Yan had no objections.

Building a whole district was hardly a challenge for him anymore.

But right now, he wanted to test out his new ability—Vector Manipulation.

And Morax, standing right in front of him, was the perfect sparring partner.

"Hey, Morax, I've recently awakened a new ability. Care to help me test it?"

Jiang Yan grinned mischievously.

Morax gave him a sidelong glance.

"Looking for another beating?"

Over the centuries, Jiang Yan and Morax had sparred countless times. But every single time, it ended with Jiang Yan getting pummeled.

Jiang Yan had his Buddha's Top Transformation, but Morax countered with Stone Stele: Rise—

his fists alone could blot out the sky, and from above came an endless storm of rock and starlight.

"Don't say it like that—just a friendly match."

Jiang Yan smiled.

"Well, since you insist, I don't mind."

Morax stood up.

"Not here, though. Wouldn't want to destroy the place. Let's take it to the sea."

Jiang Yan also rose to his feet.

"What are you two up to now?"

Azhdaha and the others turned toward them.

"Jiang Yan says he's awakened a new ability and wants to spar."

Morax explained to the group.

"A new ability?"

Azhdaha and Cloud Retainer exchanged looks, their eyes glinting with curiosity.

"Eh? The Lord of Geo is going to spar with Jiang Yan?"

Cloud Retainer and the others immediately perked up at that.

"Mm. If you're interested, you can come watch."

Morax said with a small smile.

Everyone exchanged glances, then nodded in unison.

"Then let's go!"

Jiang Yan flexed his hands and feet, ready for action.

Over the sea near Guyun Stone Forest, Jiang Yan and Morax stood suspended high above the waves.

In the distance, Azhdaha, Guizhong, and the others watched from afar.

"That kid Jiang Yan really has incredible perception. He's always coming up with new abilities out of nowhere."

Azhdaha sighed.

"Perhaps it's a trait of the Spirit Clan?"

Cloud Retainer mused, eyes thoughtful.

"Who knows. But for us, it's certainly a good thing."

Guizhong said as she absently stroked the purring Little White in her arms.

"Still, after that last great war, the Lord of Geo's power seems to have grown deeper and more unfathomable."

Mountain Shaper said gravely, feeling the immense auras radiating from the two figures.

"Indeed. Among the seven seats the one above has designated for the Archons,

there's no one more fitting than him."

Cloud Retainer said softly.
