Chapter 25 - A New Version Update?

"How did you know the Fatui were occupying that plain, Ororon?"

Citlali narrowed her eyes as she asked, her tone suspicious.

"Grandma, I've been living out in the wild for a long time," Ororon replied calmly. "I still get bits and pieces of information from outside."

"What?! Ororon, have you already forgotten what I've told you since you were little? The Three Vigilances!"

"I remember—the three things to beware of: wild beasts, deceivers, and strange creatures that appear from nowhere. But those Fatui… actually…"

He stopped himself mid-sentence. "Forget it. Grandma, some things… are better if you don't know."

"Why, you little brat! I've lived for two hundred years, and I've never seen a child talk to the High Priestess like that!"

Citlali pointed at Ororon, looking ready to explode.

Liang Chuan coughed lightly.

"Maybe… don't scold him in front of others? He might get a lifelong trauma."

"Thank you, Grandpa," Ororon said, visibly relieved.

"Take me to that plane you mentioned," Liang Chuan said, gesturing with his chin. "The Fatui aren't necessarily impossible to live alongside."

"Even you're saying that now…?"

Citlali frowned deeply. "Liang Chuan, don't trust Fatui so easily! They are not good people!"

"It's just a matter of perspective," Liang Chuan replied with a smile. "If we shared the same goal, they could even become reliable allies."

After all, once the Natlan Abyssal Eruption began, the Fatui had played a massive role in the defense effort.

Especially when someone like The Captain was around—just standing beside that level of power made you feel absolutely secure.

From a larger viewpoint, everything the Fatui did was to help the Tsaritsa fight against Celestia—all for the future of Teyvat.

If anything, the twins, Ying and Kong, descendants of Khaenri'ah, were closer to being the real villains.

Two votes to one—despite Citlali's opposition, the group set off toward the plains.

The area lay southwest of the Masters of the Night-Wind, far from both the tribe's main territory and the Sacred Flame Arena.

Few Natlan tribes ventured here unless they had a special reason.

That isolation gave the Fatui the perfect chance to establish a base.

"The resources here are incredible!"

As soon as they arrived, Liang Chuan's eyes gleamed as he surveyed the surroundings.

"Fruits, water sources, wild animals… and plenty of timber, stone, even more! This place is a perfect site for a base!"

"But the monsters here are far too many," Citlali said grimly.

"On the way here, we passed at least five Hilichurl camps!

Not to mention all the Slimes and other wandering creatures.

I even spotted two Deepmoss Nodes!

If you two weren't with me, I would've already started purifying those Abyssal growths!"

"Whoa, hold up—don't!" Liang Chuan said quickly. "Let my people handle that. We can't waste all that precious bio-energy."

Citlali turned to Ororon. "So where exactly is that Fatui base you mentioned?"

Ororon went silent.

If he revealed their location, Citlali would definitely bring her subordinates from the Bureau of Affairs to storm the place by morning.

"What's wrong? You think I can't find them myself?" Citlali glared.

"Let's put the Fatui aside for now," Liang Chuan interjected, stepping between them. "We're here to pick a site for the new base."

"I think this place looks great. Give me a moment to take some readings."

While Liang Chuan was surveying the area, the players back in the real world had just finished hauling back all the Hilichurl corpses from a previous battle.

The haul generated a ton of Bio-Energy, which they could now sell on the trade platform.

With supply finally catching up, the market was booming again.

Whales like [One-Slash-Kills] and [Jump-Up-and-Hit-Your-Knee] could finally spend credits to "buy a resurrection."

"This game's getting so good!" laughed [Blazing BlazingFlame].

"Clearing a single Hilichurl camp nets us XP, loot, and credits! The only weak part is the treasure chest rewards."

"Even then," he continued, grinning, "those credits translate to real money. I've made more in two days of gameplay than I do in half a month at my job!"

"For real!" said [IReallyEatBeef], sounding amazed.

"I'm seriously thinking of quitting and going full-time. I remember people saying that in Fantasy Realm, crafting a single legendary item was worth a house in a top-tier city!

This game's ceiling feels even higher. Just trading bio-energy can earn us thousands—if we ever get our hands on rare gear, that's financial freedom right there!"

"And don't forget the biggest advantage," said [Blazing BlazingFlame], raising a brow.

"We're the first wave of players. The earliest batch. We're basically pigs standing right on the wind's edge—how can we not take off?"

"That settles it!" [IReallyEatBeef] said decisively. "I'm sending in my resignation letter today, handing over my duties, and becoming a full-time player!"

"Resignation letter? Hah! You're too polite," [Blazing BlazingFlame] sneered.

"It's the start of the month—just quit the company group chat and block your boss. Forget the paycheck!"

"Uh… that's kind of extreme. Gotta maintain relationships, right?"

"Relationships? Did your boss ever treat you like a person?

Working 9-9-6 is standard, and sometimes it's even 0-0-7!"

"ARGHHHH!" [IReallyEatBeef] suddenly shouted.

"What now?!"

"I'm quitting too! No more work—I'm going full-time! And I'll drag my friends and relatives in with me!"

"I already had my parents apply for accounts," [Blazing BlazingFlame] said, smacking his lips.

"But the registration hasn't gone through yet.

Feels like the next batch of accounts won't be released until the game hits its next version."

"The next version update, huh?" [IReallyEatBeef] narrowed his eyes.

"Like… right now?"

The moment he said that, every player across Teyvat suddenly saw a glowing notification appear before their eyes:
