Chapter 52 - Chapter 051: Itsuki Disappeared the Moment You Arrived?

Tenzo was worried that Itsuki might fall into Danzo's hands, so he explained in detail everything he knew about Danzo's schemes.

That was his main reason for coming.

To make Itsuki understand better, he even told him about his own origins with Wood Release, and how Danzo had forced him to slander Kakashi while trying to steal the Sharingan.

Of course, Itsuki already knew more about these things than Tenzo did.

But since Tenzo was only being considerate, Itsuki could only nod along and pretend to listen attentively.

After Tenzo finished, one of his Wood Clones arrived carrying a large food basket.

Seeing Itsuki's confusion, Tenzo smiled.

"You've been away on missions these past few days—sleeping outdoors, eating whatever you could. You must be exhausted. So, I prepared a big meal for you."

"This is to celebrate your safe return from your first mission, and also your new home."

He led Itsuki to the dining table downstairs and began unloading the food.

It was a true feast.

Fish, shrimp, beef, all kinds of meat dishes, rice, miso soup, fruits… enough to fill a table meant for over a dozen people.

Under the glow of the crystal chandelier, the food looked so exquisite it almost seemed like something out of a gourmet world—not the shinobi world.

"Teacher Tenzo…" Itsuki opened his mouth, unsure what to say.

Tenzo smiled, patted his shoulder, and said, "Sit down and eat. Don't hold back. It's your first mission—it's worth celebrating."

"No!" Itsuki quickly clarified, "I meant—"

"I know," Tenzo interrupted gently. "You're welcome."

He pressed Itsuki into the chair. "You call me 'teacher,' so it's my duty to take care of you. I don't have much else to give, but I can at least prepare meals. I live alone anyway—I don't need much money."

Itsuki spoke faster: "What I meant is, I can't finish all of this. Next time, maybe buy less—give me a discount."

"…" Tenzo froze.

"Haha, I'm just kidding!" Itsuki laughed, then said more seriously, "But really, Teacher Tenzo, I can't eat all of this. Please don't spend so much money next time. You've already taught me so much—it should be me treating you."

Tenzo let out a breath of relief, smiling. "You only just became a genin, and you haven't even submitted your mission report yet. You don't have any spare money. Since you call me teacher, let me handle this."

Half an hour later, Tenzo stared in silence at Itsuki's round stomach. Nearly all the food was gone.

Of course, Tenzo had eaten too—but only about one-fifth of the meal. The rest was all in Itsuki's belly.

Itsuki chuckled. "I don't know why, but after awakening Wood Release, my appetite's grown a lot. Normally I eat enough for two people, but if I really let loose, I can eat for ten. The energy gets stored, so I can skip meals later. And honestly—your food was just too good to resist."

Tenzo sighed. "Wood Release represents vitality. Since awakening it, you've had a massive surge of life force inside you. To sustain it, your body needs more energy. Until your vitality stabilizes, you'll need to eat much more."

"Uh… is that really necessary?" Itsuki scratched his nose, embarrassed.

He felt guilty—Tenzo was an honest man, yet he was the one being drained dry.

But Tenzo's tone turned firm. "Yes. You're growing, and your strength is skyrocketing. I won't allow you to suffer any physical deficiencies because of poor nutrition. Not even a little."

"So it's settled. From now on, unless you're on a mission, I'll provide your three meals a day. Even if I'm away, I'll prepare food in advance."

Itsuki tried to refuse again, but Tenzo didn't give him the chance—he vanished in a flicker of movement.

"…Well, forget it." Itsuki sighed. "Hard to turn down kindness like that. If I insist, I'll just make Teacher Tenzo sad."

When he glanced at the [Fabrication System] group chat, the girls were already gossiping about his "disappearance."

He had checked out of the hospital, but hadn't gone home.

The Four Flowers of Konoha, along with Anko, had wandered the commercial street looking for him—but found nothing.

[Mitarashi Anko: I came to visit you, and Itsuki disappeared the moment I arrived? You were definitely hiding something shady from me!]

[Yamanaka Ino: Ahem, the doctor said Itsuki needed rest, so we couldn't bother him too long. He left ages ago.]

[Haruno Sakura: Yeah, we were there less than half an hour. And Itsuki handled his own discharge papers. Why should we care if we can't find him?]

[Uzumaki Karin: He's not at the hospital. Did he go home?]

[Tenten: I checked his house. No one's there. I even prepared food for him to come back to.]

[Yamanaka Ino: …Do you even know how to cook?]

[Tenten: Can't I learn? Don't underestimate me!]

[Hyuga Hinata: Um…]

[Tenten: Hinata, do you have something to say? (Death Stare.jpg)]

[Hyuga Hinata: N-no! I was just wondering if Itsuki-kun visited someone's house, and that's why we can't find him on the street.]

[Yamanaka Ino: But Itsuki's social circle is tiny. He doesn't have many close friends.]

[Tenten: @Mitarashi Anko, you know the team leader, the jōnin Daisho, and the ANBU who taught Itsuki Wood Release, right? Go ask them.]

[Mitarashi Anko: Daisho? That Wood Release ANBU guy? Fine, I'll ask. If I don't find anything, I'll go straight to the Hokage.]

[Uzumaki Karin: Please tell me right away if you find him!]

Itsuki stroked his chin. Their words didn't sound particularly sincere—they just wanted to score points with him.

So he didn't bother contacting them. Instead, he tidied up his room, washed up, and lay down in bed.

Tenzo was wrong about one thing—Itsuki hadn't been roughing it outdoors on his mission.

He never treated himself poorly, whether food or lodging.

But the long travel and two tough battles had drained him.

He considered making another future video for the [Fabrication System]… but before he could decide, sleep claimed him.
