Chapter 2 - 2: The Gate Between Worlds

Balder shut his eyes tightly, letting his consciousness sink deep into his spiritual sea.

There — in the vast stillness of his inner world — he could faintly sense… something hidden.

Moments later, within that ocean of divine awareness, a massive Gate of Light slowly began to take shape.

Balder's eyes flickered with surprise and intrigue as he stared at the magnificent, mysterious doorway.

This wasn't something that existed in his old memories.

And Balder's personal divine artifact definitely wasn't a door.

"So this is… my golden finger?"

A spark of excitement flashed across his eyes.

But soon, his brows furrowed again.

"How do I use it though? Manually? Or by willpower?"

As the thought crossed his mind, the glowing gate seemed to respond.

A sudden beam of light burst forth from its surface, shooting directly into Balder's mind.

Instantly, a flood of information poured into his consciousness.

When he reopened his eyes moments later, divine brilliance flashed within them.

"The Gate Between Worlds… it can connect to the infinite realms of the multiverse!"

Balder took a deep breath.

As a reborn soul, he understood immediately what this meant.

The Marvel Universe didn't have any proper cultivation paths.

But the other worlds — oh, they did.

Countless realms. Infinite resources. Endless opportunities.

If he could open enough worlds and gather enough power…

Then "Sub-Skyfather" or even "Skyfather" tiers would be just the beginning.

Reaching the level of the One-Above-All — the Supreme God of Marvel's multiverse — might not even be impossible!

"Open!"

At his command, the radiant gate trembled.

Brilliant light converged and solidified into three swirling vortices on its surface.

"The Day After Tomorrow"

"Chronicle"

"I, Frankenstein"

"Three worlds per activation, huh…"

Balder nodded in realization.

He was familiar with all three names.

The Day After Tomorrow — a disaster movie world. Post-apocalyptic, but not much profit in it.

Chronicle — a fantasy-sci-fi story about a meteor crystal that grants telekinesis. A decent world, with at least one supernatural object of interest.

I, Frankenstein — a world mixing science fiction and dark fantasy, filled with demons, gargoyles, and supernatural beings. But in truth, few things there would benefit him.

And yet… it was the last one that intrigued Balder the most.

Because it was a world that explicitly contained Heaven — and a background involving God Himself.

In that world, the Gargoyle Order was created by none other than the Archangel Michael.

A world with Heaven, angels, and a Creator meant one thing —

Balder might have a chance to seize divine authority.

The Authority of God — Omniscience and Omnipotence!

Even if it was a "low-magic" version of God, possessing even a fragment of such authority would grant a portion of that infinite power.

And more importantly — Balder was the God of Light.

If there was any place aligned with his divine nature… it was Heaven itself.

How could he not be tempted?

But after only a few moments, Balder sighed and looked away.

Sure, God's Authority was deliciously tempting —

But even a "lesser god" of a low-fantasy world wasn't someone he could challenge yet.

A god, a host of angels, and thousands of Gargoyles — even Thor in his base form wouldn't last a minute against that.

"Without crossing into the Sub-Skyfather tier — without truly transcending into the concept of 'godhood' — there's no way I could take them head-on."

At the moment, Balder's strength was roughly equivalent to Thor's normal state.

And with that level of power? Facing an army of thousands of minor supernatural beings, plus a "God" with partial omniscience? Even Thor would turn tail and run.

Balder wasn't reckless — he knew his limits.

Turning back to the remaining two choices, he quickly dismissed The Day After Tomorrow.

A world without any supernatural elements and teetering on global destruction had zero benefits — and he wasn't confident he could even handle its apocalyptic climate disasters.

"Then it's decided — Chronicle it is!"

The moment he made his choice, the other two vortices dissolved into nothingness.

A flash of regret crossed Balder's face —

The Day After Tomorrow didn't matter, but I, Frankenstein's world was a rare low-tier realm with a tangible Heaven and Creator system.

Still, it was far beyond his current reach.

A blinding white light engulfed his vision.

World: Chronicle

Night fell across a lonely stretch of wilderness.

Suddenly — a gate of shimmering light appeared out of thin air.

The radiant portal stood nearly three meters tall, pulsing with mysterious divine energy.

Then, a figure stepped through.

Balder's feet touched the unfamiliar soil.

He looked around the dark, quiet terrain, eyes scanning everything carefully.

"Supernatural density... almost zero."

"So this world's either post-degeneration — or just completely mundane."

In his past life, he'd seen fan discussions about Chronicle.

That meteor crystal that granted telekinesis? Theorists had three main explanations for its origin:

A laboratory experiment gone wrong.

An extraterrestrial artifact.

Something demonic in nature.

Originally, Balder had leaned toward the third.

After all, the protagonist Andrew's descent into darkness was almost too natural.

Yes, he'd suffered deeply — but for a withdrawn, fragile kid to fall so seamlessly into cruelty and madness? It reeked of something corrupting his heart.

But now? He wasn't so sure.

A faint smirk curved his lips.

"Well, whatever the truth is — I can always test it myself."

As he spoke, divine power erupted from within him.

A radiant surge of light burst outward, divine energy flooding in all directions.

In an instant, the night itself was driven away — replaced by blinding brilliance.

At that moment, Balder shed his mortal guise and revealed his true form — a being of pure light and divinity.

A halo of holy brilliance formed behind him — the Divine Radiant Wheel, the sacred artifact belonging to the God of Light himself.

With a flick of his finger, the wheel soared upward.

It expanded, transforming into a blazing sun that hung high above, bathing the earth in divine illumination.

The dark world was reborn in light.

That overwhelming divine aura spread without restraint, proclaiming to the entire world —

The God of Light has descended!

Across the globe, countless mortals looked up, dumbstruck, at the sudden, impossible sight —

a new sun blazing in the midnight sky.
