"Equip Spell: 'Big Bang Shot'!"
Kira continued.
"I equip Chimeratech Rampage Dragon with Big Bang Shot."
As he finished speaking, Rampage Dragon was shrouded in a crimson glow, its metallic body appearing to be engulfed in quiet, dark flames.
"This Equip Spell increases the monster's ATK by 400. Also, if it attacks a Defense Position monster and its ATK is greater than the target's DEF, the difference is inflicted as piercing battle damage."
[Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, ATK 2100 → 2500]
Jakob's face finally changed.
"ATK 2500..."
But that wasn't the main point—now Chimeratech Rampage Dragon also had piercing damage!
Piercing, plus multiple attacks. And the Meklord Emperor's parts have low defense. Granel Infinity's ATK drops with any loss of Life Points; so, with each blow, its immense power will shrink.
Lester, catching on, said anxiously, "Jakob, isn't this looking bad for us?"
Jakob's expression darkened further, but he kept silent.
He never expected that their greatest advantage—their tag-team Granel—would be cracked like this on turn one.
But there was still hope. As long as his final set—protected by Granel's effect—remained…
Kira, however, didn't declare battle yet. He smiled knowingly, pulling out another card.
"Quick-Play Spell: 'Anti-Magic Arrows'!"
Golden light formed a spell matrix in midair, a thousand arrows shining down.
"'Anti-Magic Arrows's' activation can't be chained to by any Spell, Trap, or monster effect," Kira explained. "It can only be activated at the start of a Battle Phase.
Until the end of the turn, neither player can activate Spell or Trap effects!"
Jakob's pupils shrank. "Nani!?"
With a wave of Kira's hand, the field was showered with arrows, sealing Jakob's remaining back-row card. Whatever it was, it was now useless.
Jakob: "You..."
"What, did you think I'd walk into your trap carelessly?" Kira grinned. "Sure, attacking into unknowns can be a strategy—but if I can guarantee my win, why not?"
Jakob: "..."
"All right then. Battle! First, Rampage Dragon attacks 'Granel Attack'!"
The Granel Attack—Granel's cannon arm—was in Defense Position, DEF 0.
Rampage Dragon's head vibrated at high frequency, surging with blue-violet electricity, its throat core pulsing bright red. Energy built up and fired with a screaming surge.
"Come on, Jakob—don't tell me you're out of moves!" shouted Lester.
But Jakob was just staring in shock, muttering, "Impossible. He cracked my whole formation! His tactics—he's crushing me completely…"
A burning beam punched through the air, leaving web-shaped electric wake. The Granel Attack's armor melted, crashed, exploded into twisted scrap.
[Jakob × Lester, LP 8000 → LP 5500]
Jakob staggered back, but stayed standing. Lester, blown away, tumbled and crashed to the floor, teeth gritted.
Lester: "Damn it..."
No wonder he was upset—before his first turn in the tag duel, their side was getting crushed.
And this was just the beginning.
Kira continued, "Your LP dropped, so Granel's ATK drops too."
[Meklord Emperor Granel, ATK 8000 → 5500]
"If this is all you've got, I'll be disappointed." Kira laughed. "Next, Rampage Dragon attacks 'Granel Top'!"
[Rampage Dragon, ATK 2500]
[Granel Top, DEF 0]
Second strike!
The head part was destroyed in a blast of blue fire and shattered metal.
"Aaaahhhh!"
Lester was sent tumbling across the ground again. Jakob dropped to one knee, his face dark as a storm.
[Jakob × Lester, LP 5500 → 3000]
[Meklord Emperor Granel, ATK 5500 → 3000]
"Third strike! Rampage Dragon attacks 'Granel Carrier'!"
[Granel Carrier, DEF 700]
The third lightning strike hit the huge base, which exploded in a fireball.
[Jakob × Lester, LP 3000 → 1200]
[Meklord Emperor Granel, ATK 3000 → 1200]
Lester now lay on the ground, arms over his head—he still got blasted across the field regardless.
Jakob was down on one knee, arm raised in front of his face, his wound-up confidence in tatters.
Unbelievable.
His proud Granel, backed by the tag-team advantage, had just been crushed.
He hadn't understood God's decision before—but now he was starting to see why Z-ONE had parachuted this unknown into the command seat.
The gap in power really was that enormous.
"I set two cards facedown and end my turn."
Kira gracefully raised his hand.
"Here you go—Lester, right? Kid, It's your turn."
