Chapter 1174 - Chapter 1171: The League Takes Action

My nakamas, I want to inform you about something important regarding the story Chronicles 📖🔥

Officially, the novel has 1,467 chapters (it may vary by one chapter more or less, but it is definitely over 1,450).

Starting from chapter 1373, which is now translated directly by me, we are moving in exact sequence with the original version.

Now comes the serious part… and a slightly chaotic one 😅 From chapter 1374 of the original, each chapter in Chinese has around 8,000 words. When translated, depending on the content, they end up being between 3,000 and 6,000 words in either Spanish or English.

To maintain a good translation pace and, above all, quality, I made the decision to split those chapters. The goal is for each published chapter to have approximately 900 to 1,200 words.

So, where will we actually end up chapter-wise?

👉 I honestly don't know.

And yes… we are sailing through uncharted territory 🌊🧭.

I tried translating them without splitting, but to be completely honest, the result was a monumental disaster: I kept getting lost and felt that even after hours of work, I made no real progress. On top of that, it wasn't comfortable to read and didn't do justice to the story.

So, for everyone's sake (and for my own mental health), I've decided to stick with this format, just as you saw in the chapters uploaded today.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and for continuing to accompany me on this journey. All of this is done so that Chronicles maintains the level it truly deserves 💪🔥

CAMPAI 🥂

----

Erick's departure was within Cain's expectations.

The only thing that surprised him was that Erick seemed to have sensed something about his true identity.

It wasn't a particularly important detail; what truly mattered was that doubt had already begun to grow within him.

Cain was certain that once Erick saw with his own eyes certain things he both longed for and feared to witness, he would eventually return to seek him out.

By then, Team Heaven would gain another valuable general.

That was what Cain appreciated most about Erick.

...

Upon returning to the League camp, the tension immediately eased.

Not only Cain's close friends, like Steven, but also other League trainers breathed a sigh of relief at his return.

His prolonged absence had made the high command uneasy, to the point where they were already considering storming into Meteor Falls and directly confronting Team Magma and Team Aqua.

Many League trainers were nervous.

After all, the interior of the falls was completely unknown; entering blindly could mean facing unimaginable dangers.

Fortunately, Cain had returned. Even if they had to fight, at least now they wouldn't be charging in completely blind.

Upon hearing of his return, Drake summoned everyone for a meeting.

Inside the main tent, he asked, "Cain, what happened? Why did it take you so long? Did you manage to find anything?"

The others looked at him expectantly.

Nearly three days had already passed. If Cain hadn't come back that night, they had planned to break in by force.

Cain nodded, then scratched his head.

"It took me quite some time to locate both Team Magma and Team Aqua inside the falls, but I drew a detailed map of the tunnels. This way, when we advance, we won't be going in completely blind," he explained.

Everyone immediately assumed that was the reason for his long absence.

"Let's see it, then!" Drake urged excitedly.

A detailed map of Meteor Falls was priceless.

Cain took out his communicator and projected the map he had recorded into the system.

Of course, he concealed certain parts.

The exact area where Team Magma and Team Aqua were located was only shown in general terms, without full detail.

It was better not to overexplain.

"Excellent! With this, we can plan a strategic strike," Drake said with a satisfied smile.

"But we must proceed with caution," Sidney interjected.

Drake nodded; he understood that as well.

Cain added, "From what I observed, Team Magma and Team Aqua seem to have formed an alliance. They're searching for something, and to avoid being discovered, I didn't get too close."

Drake frowned. "Did you find their location?"

He had only expected Cain to bring a map, not such precise information.

"Yes," Cain replied.

"They're in a rather deep area. Waiting here outside is pointless. My suggestion is that we move further in and occupy two strategic points," he said, pointing at the map. "If we station ourselves here and here, we can trap them like iron in a vice."

They were two large caverns, not far apart, and both served as mandatory passages to exit to the surface.

As long as the League secured those points, Team Magma and Team Aqua wouldn't be able to escape unless they dug new tunnels.

The short distance between the caverns would allow for quick support in case of emergency.

And since both areas were spacious, there would be little risk of ambushes or cave-ins.

"Are you sure?" Glacia asked.

Cain looked at her. Although they had crossed paths several times before, it was the first time they spoke directly.

"Yes. We can advance gradually, sending a small group first to confirm there are no ambushes, then have the main force follow."

"Team Magma and Team Aqua are taking a huge risk. Whatever they're after must be crucial—and I suspect it's closely tied to those two legendary Pokémon," he said seriously.

At those words, the room grew heavier with silence.

If they truly found them, the consequences would be unpredictable.

"It seems time is not on our side," Drake muttered, studying the points marked on the map.

Everyone fell silent, waiting for his decision.

As commander-in-chief of the camp, the final word was his.

After a moment of reflection, Drake finally decided: "Alright! We move out tonight. Everyone must be ready before nightfall."

He then began assigning tasks: "Sidney, Glacia—you'll each lead a division and advance toward Meteor Falls."

"Yes!"

"Norman, Cain—you two will scout the main routes to ensure there are no ambushes before the others proceed."

Norman exchanged glances with Cain.

"Understood!"

"Steven, Phoebe, Wallace—you'll support Norman and Cain. Check the secondary tunnels to prevent Team Magma or Team Aqua from flanking us."

The three nodded eagerly.

"Yes!"

"Everyone, pay close attention to safety! Each captain is responsible for the protection of their own members," Drake ordered.

"YES, SIR!!" the room answered in unison.

The League had assembled over three hundred people for this operation: three members of the Elite Four, one Gym Leader with strength nearly equal to that of an Elite, effectively making it four.

Cain, Steven, Phoebe, Wallace, and three other Elite-level trainers were present—seven in total.

In addition, there were twenty quasi-Elite trainers, eighty advanced-level trainers, and the rest were soldiers distributed under their command.

Each squad was organized according to the League's wartime military structure.

In other words, the operation against Team Magma and Team Aqua was now officially recognized as a war.

And everyone faced it as such.

...

As night fell, the League mobilized.

Cain and Norman led the way, acting as scouts.

"Mr. Norman, there's something I've always wanted to ask you," said Cain as they advanced together toward the falls.

"Oh? What is it?" Norman looked at him with interest.

In truth, he didn't know Cain very well.

But ever since Drake had spoken of his admiration for him, Norman had started paying closer attention.

Cain took a deep breath and asked the question that had been troubling him most:

"It might sound bold, but... how can one make Slaking overcome its Truant ability after evolving?"
