Chapter 1249 - Chapter 1246: Three Gengar

"Kekeke!"

"Kekeke!"

"Kekeke!"

Suddenly, those strange cackles burst out from within the Bone Dragon.

Cain reacted instantly and activated his scanning system. Very soon, he discovered the true cause of the Bone Dragon's existence.

Upon reviewing the data list, he realized that it was actually three Gengar that had fused together and clung to the skeleton. However, these three Gengar were special.

They seemed to be in a strange fusion state.

It was the first time Cain had ever seen something like this: a fusion state.

The other two Gengar had practically the same data, as if they were three clones; aside from the Egg Moves, everything else was almost identical.

While Cain analyzed, the Bone Dragon seemed to lock onto a target and began advancing heavily toward him.

Or rather, toward Cain's Gengar.

Cain's face hardened. No matter what their origin or purpose was, defeating them first was the only option.

Using telepathy, he coordinated all his Pokémon.

Weavile extended its arms and released a freezing beam that locked the Bone Dragon's legs to the ground.

At the same time, thick vines burst from the earth, wrapping tightly around it.

Immediately, Honchkrow and Drapion unleashed violent waves of Dark Pulse.

Boom!

Boom!

The shockwaves struck the skeleton's body head-on.

Slowking reinforced the restraints: its psychic threads wrapped around Florges's bindings like ribbons, creating an extra layer that prevented any possible escape.

Boom!

Boom!

Two dark spheres exploded against the Bone Dragon's skull, as Cain's Pokémon knew the most important thing was to protect the Mega Stone embedded there.

Crack!

Crack!

"KEKEKKEEEE!"

The already fractured skull couldn't withstand the onslaught and shattered into pieces.

At the same time, a bloodcurdling scream echoed: the three Gengar shrieked in fury and agony.

Slowking's psychic threads grabbed the Mega Stone and pulled it toward Cain.

But he didn't take it immediately. His eyes were fixed on the Bone Dragon, filled with genuine terror.

He knew perfectly well what a Gengar looked like—he owned one himself. But what he was seeing defied all logic.

Even without the skull that had covered them, those creatures retained their form, shrouded in a black aura with burning red eyes.

And within those gazes, there was no spark of consciousness—only pure desire, greed, and madness.

That could no longer be considered a Pokémon!

Crack, crack, crack!

As Cain stood horrified, the skeleton's bones crumbled like sand, turning to dust.

The true form of the three Gengar's fusion was revealed.

In the areas where their bodies touched, they had completely merged, turned into a single mass.

The result was a grotesque abomination—a monster.

With the disappearance of the bone framework, the restraints of ice, vines, and psychic threads lost effectiveness.

The three Gengar roared and, in an instant, vanished into the ground, merging with the shadows and lunging directly at Cain's Gengar.

Cain's expression tensed.

Their goal was to devour his Gengar!

Or to fuse it with them into that amalgam!

It was too late to recall it into its Pokéball. The only option was to order a counterattack.

Slowking unleashed Psychic, Florges fired Energy Ball, Honchkrow and Drapion attacked with Dark Pulse, Weavile fired Ice Beam, and Cain's own Gengar countered with Shadow Ball.

All the attacks struck the enemy shadow, causing painful shrieks.

But far from stopping, the damage only drove them madder, increasing their speed.

"Gengar!" Cain roared mentally, ordering it to retreat.

But his Gengar stood firm in front of him, unmoving.

Behind it stood Cain.

As his shadow, protecting its trainer was its life's mission.

If it retreated, Cain would be exposed to the attack.

And seeing the enemy's ferocity, neither Slowking nor the others were sure they could stop it in time.

For the first time, Gengar disobeyed an order. It gathered all its energy, determined to resist.

It wasn't one to merely defend—it would face them head-on!

"Kekeke!"

Cain understood its resolve. It was no time for reproach. With a motion, he reached for his belt and took out the Key Stone.

His Gengar had reached level 74. Upon Mega Evolution, it would be at Advanced Elite Four level—enough to confront three level 70 fused Gengar.

But something unexpected happened.

The enemy shadow accelerated even more and engulfed Gengar in an instant, like a giant mouth swallowing it whole.

"Mega Evolution, Gengar!" Cain shouted, gripping the Key Stone tightly in his hand.

Even though Gengar was submerged within the shadow, the energy of Mega Evolution could not be blocked.

Light burst from Cain's hand, linking with the Mega Stone.

The shadow, which had been trying to sink back into the ground, was dragged outward as if caught by an invisible net.

The energy threads of Mega Evolution spread in all directions, piercing through the darkness.

And then, Gengar's voice echoed from within the shadow:

"KEKEKEKEKEK!"
