Chapter 1272 - Chapter 1269: The Sky Dragon, Rayquaza!

The clash between Kyogre and Groudon still had no clear victor.

However, the waves of energy generated by their battle were so violent that most people could barely withstand them.

By that point, only a few trainers and aircraft remained in the surrounding skies.

Those who stayed were the ones who had complete confidence in their own strength.

The Primal Kyogre and the Primal Groudon once again crashed into each other.

Groudon withstood Kyogre's frontal assault, caught it above his head with both arms, and hurled it away with brutal force. Immediately after, several magma balls struck Kyogre squarely in the abdomen, sending it crashing into the frozen waves it had created itself.

It slid a long distance across the thick layer of ice before finally coming to a stop.

Kyogre, enraged, refused to back down. It opened its mouth and fired a beam of pale blue energy that struck Groudon's legs, freezing them completely.

Then it flapped its fins, and multiple bluish spheres began to form around it — another surge of the move Origin Pulse.

Groudon, unwilling to yield, melted the ice on its legs instantly with its burning magma, then opened its mouth to unleash a light-green beam of energy.

Solar Beam!

For Groudon, thermal energy was endless, so it didn't need to charge that move.

The two attacks — Origin Pulse and Solar Beam — collided at the midpoint between them.

For an instant, the entire world seemed to stop.

Then, a deafening explosion shook the air, accompanied by a torrent of energy that violently expanded in all directions.

From the point of impact, massive waves spread toward the horizon.

The League's defenses, deployed along the coast, activated immediately. Numerous Pokémon were summoned to contain the tides caused by the clash between the two deities.

Amid the chaos, countless wild Pokémon were swept onto the shores.

And before anyone could react, a group of people dressed in uniform swiftly captured them.

Those who saw them thought they were a special force sent by the League, so not only did they not interfere — they even helped them catch Pokémon.

After the explosion, the heat and rising air currents began to disperse the black clouds in the sky.

At the center of the blast, a spiraling column of air rose high above, tearing a huge hole through the clouds, allowing sunlight to pour down upon the battlefield.

The fight between Kyogre and Groudon had reached its most intense point.

The military helicopter carrying Cain, Juan, and Drake had moved far enough away to observe from a safe distance.

Just as Kyogre and Groudon were about to launch themselves into battle once more, several beams of green light began descending through the hole in the clouds.

Kyogre and Groudon both raised their heads at the same time, roaring furiously.

It was as if they had sensed the presence of something they deeply despised.

"It's coming!" said Cain, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

At last, he was about to witness with his own eyes the being he had long awaited.

Juan and Drake also noticed the change and focused their attention on the breach in the sky where the light was pouring through.

"ROOOAAAARRR!"

A deafening roar echoed across the heavens. The clouds, which had formed a simple hole, suddenly expanded violently outward, clearing nearly the entire sky.

Then, a majestic figure appeared — an emerald-colored dragon, long and serpentine, unlike Salamence or Dragonite. It wasn't a lizard-like dragon, but a celestial serpent with three claws and a regal gaze.

The Sky Dragon, Rayquaza!

The moment Rayquaza appeared, it briefly observed Kyogre and Groudon. Noticing the changes in their bodies, it didn't hesitate for even a second and unleashed its full power.

In a blinding flash, Mega Rayquaza revealed itself to the world.

Although Cain had seen that form before — in that strange dream — the feeling now was completely different. He could feel an overwhelming pressure, an energy filled with absolute confidence, a presence that seemed to rule the sky and gaze down upon the world.

That aura left not only Cain but every witness in utter awe.

But for Kyogre and Groudon, that was precisely why they hated Rayquaza so deeply — it always appeared with that same arrogant attitude, as if it were the leader and all others mere subordinates.

Rayquaza had successfully drawn both of their fury upon itself.

Kyogre roared and immediately fired its Origin Pulse, while Groudon responded with Solar Beam, both directed straight at the newcomer.

Caught off guard by the joint assault, Rayquaza roared in rage and began twisting through the air, slithering at high speed. With swift, elegant, and fierce movements, it managed to evade both Kyogre's waves and Groudon's beam.

But Rayquaza was not the type to simply dodge.

It opened its mouth and launched an orange energy sphere — not at its enemies, but toward the sky.

Draco Meteor! — one of the most powerful Dragon-type moves.

The sphere ascended through the clouds, and in the next instant, a rain of blazing energy meteors descended upon the sea.

Neither Groudon on the burning land nor Kyogre beneath the water could avoid being struck.

Both took the hit directly!

Groudon endured the attack and immediately countered: from the magma-covered land it had created, it fired several rocks wrapped in molten fire toward the dragon.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

The projectiles hit Rayquaza squarely, making it roar in pain as it plummeted from the sky, crashing onto Kyogre's icy layer. The impact was so violent that it rolled across the frozen surface.

Seizing the opportunity, Kyogre rose again, surrounded by a swirling storm of blue-white spheres — another barrage of Origin Pulse, aimed directly at the dragon writhing on the ice.

BOOOOM!

The first beam struck its target, but Rayquaza reacted immediately. It roared in fury, struck the surface with its tail, and using the momentum, launched itself back into the air, dodging the rest of the attacks.

As it ascended, purple energy began to gather in its mouth.

An instant later, it fired it as a direct beam toward Kyogre, which was still hovering in midair.

BOOM!

CRASH!

Rayquaza's aim was precise. The impact sent Kyogre hurtling straight into Groudon, who had just been preparing to attack. The collision instantly disrupted Groudon's move.

Being struck by its greatest rival only enraged it further — but it couldn't lose focus. Now both had a common enemy: Rayquaza.

Groudon grabbed Kyogre with one hand and raised the other toward the sky.

Rayquaza, soaring over the ocean, sensed the shift in the air — but it was already too late to react.

Five or six magma pillars, formed by the move Precipice Blades, erupted from the sea and engulfed it completely!
