Chapter 96 - The Architects of Sight

The Veil's POV

The chamber had no name because names gave things shape, and shape invited attention. Attention for 'The Veil' was dangerous; they had preferred reference, devotion and power.

Which was why they had done all they could to separate Adrian and Elena; their cooperation or bond was a danger to their plans and objectives.

World domination using the supernormals has been in the works for many decades, and these two are not allowed to crumble it. At least these are Dr Hale's thoughts as she descended into the underground chamber for their meeting.

The chamber room existed beneath three layers of legality and two layers of denial, below a decommissioned ethics council archive, beneath a research wing that no longer officially existed, and inside a jurisdiction no one wanted to claim responsibility for.

Light pulsed faintly from the walls, not white but a dim opalescent glow tuned to psychic neutrality. It calmed the uninitiated, and it sharpened the mind of the initiated.
