Chapter 102 - The Rescue

Elena's POV

I had been feeling a great sense of unease for more than 48 hours; my psychic senses were going off.

Even though I had spent a long time trying to find my own rhythm so that I could push on and live my life without Adrian.

This time, it was easier. I was ready to let go of what little relationship we had—a friendship that felt toxic and unclear, even when everything else seemed fine.

The sense of unease had strangely been coming from Adrian despite my walling against our involuntary psychic bond.

This afternoon, the unease became raw, intimate, creating a pressure like a psychic shockwave that slammed straight into my chest so hard I gasped and stumbled, my fingers dug into the edge of the table to stay upright.

My heartbeat fractured, spinning out of rhythm, and for one terrible second, I think it's Adrian. Has he been hurt? It felt really bad.
