Meanwhile, back in Decker's car, he glanced over at Dr. Jones, who was staring out the window, lost in thought.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just had to deal with some annoying people today, so I'm just a little drained," Dr. Jones replied, turning to him with a faint smile on her face.
"Yeah, I know how you feel. I have to deal with Alvin all day long," Decker said, and they both laughed.
Just then, Dr. Jones's phone buzzed, and she pulled it out of her pocket.
"Sorry, I have to take this," she said, answering the call. "Hello? Yeah, this is me. What? Are you serious? Okay, I'll come ASAP," she said, ending the call.
Decker raised an eyebrow. "Is everything okay?"
"No, it's Ethan Chen. His condition has taken a turn for the worse. I need to get back to the hospital," Dr. Jones replied, looking concerned.
Decker immediately turned the car around and sped back to the hospital. They arrived in 5 minutes flat. As he pulled up to the entrance, Decker's phone rang. He glanced at the screen - it was Alvin. He answered the call.
"Hey Alvin, what's up?" Decker asked.
"Decker, where are you? Never mind, don't answer that. You need to get back to the station ASAP. The captain just called me and told me that our suspects just escaped," Alvin said, his voice tense.
Decker's expression turned serious. "What? Are you serious? I can't believe this. Don't worry, I'm on my way," he said.
He ended the call and turned to Dr. Jones. "Sorry, Dr. Jones, I can't come in with you. There's a situation at the police station. I need to get back ASAP."
Dr. Jones nodded. "Go, I'll be fine. I'll catch up with you later."
Decker nodded, his focus already shifting to the task at hand. "I'll call you later," he said before he drove off.
Decker sped through the streets, his siren blazing, as he made his way back to the police station. The sounds of the city's nightlife filled the air, but he tuned it out, his focus solely on the task at hand. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his mind racing with possibilities. How did Shadow Snake manage to pull off this disappearing act?
As he approached the station, he could see the flashing lights of police cars, and his gut told him this was going to be a long night. He pulled up to the station, parking haphazardly, and jumped out of the car. Alvin met him at the entrance, his expression grim.
"What's the situation?" Decker asked, his voice firm.
"They're gone," Alvin said, shaking his head. "All five of them. Boss Josh, his crew... they disappeared from the interrogation rooms. No signs of forced entry or exit. It's like they vanished into thin air."
Decker cursed under his breath. "Dammit! How the fuck did they escape?"
"By the way, where's the captain? Shouldn't he be here?" Decker asked.
Alvin took a swig from his flask. "Actually, Captain's in his office getting his ass chewed out by the top brass," he replied.
"Yikes! Who's in there??" Decker asked, curious.
Alvin sighed. "Superintendent Matthew Jones, Deputy Superintendent Jennifer Riggs, Police Commander Adam Gooding, Deputy Police Commander Michael Smith, Deputy Police Commissioner Paula Eils, and Police Commissioner John Henderson are all in there."
"Damn, The Captain is going to be assless by the time they are done with him. Decker said with a Frown.
By the way, Where's Agent Wayne and Agent Williams?" He said asked.
Alvin replied, "They're in the IT room, checking the surveillance footage of the interrogation rooms."
Just then, Agent Wayne and Agent Williams return with somber expressions on their faces. "Guys, we got some bad news," Agent Williams said. "We just checked the CCTV footage, and it's like they just disappeared from the rooms. One minute they were there, and the next minute they were gone."
The captain's office door opened, and John Henderson, the commissioner, walked out with the others trailing behind him. "Captain Jean Larcon, I don't care how you do it, just fix this predicament. Find the suspects , you have ten days to do so. Otherwise, it's your ass on the chopping block," the commissioner shouted.
Decker's expression turned grim. "Looks like we've got a big problem, guys.
The top brass left the precinct, not saying a word to the officers, their faces stern and unyielding. The tension in the air was palpable as they swept out of the building, leaving the officers to deal with the aftermath.
Decker let out a low whistle. "Well, looks like we're in for a rough ride. Alvin, get the team on it. We need to find those suspects and fast."
"Shawn Decker and Alvin Winco, to my office now," Captain Larcon said with a tired voice.
Decker and Alvin exchanged a look, then headed to the captain's office. The door creaked as they entered, and Captain Larcon gestured for them to sit.
"What's the plan, Captain?" Decker asked, getting straight to the point.
Captain Larcon rubbed his temples. "I'm taking you off this case, and reassigning you to help Agent Wayne and Agent Williams. Let's not forget you promised to help them," he said with a frown.
"This is bullshit, why are we being punished?" Alvin asked, a hint of anger in his voice.
"Calm down, Alvin. I'm not punishing you guys, just reassigning you. I'm giving this case to the Special Investigation Unit," Captain Larcon replied.
Decker shook his head. "With all due respect, Captain, we're the ones who've been working this case. Don't you think we'd be better suited to see it through?"
Captain Larcon's expression was firm. "I'm sorry, Decker. The decision's made. You're off the case."
Decker narrowed his eyes. "There's something you're not telling us, Captain. What is it?"
Captain Larcon sighed, his expression resigned. "Fine, Decker. If you want to know... The reason you're being reassigned wasn't my decision. It came from the top brass."
Alvin's eyes widened. "The top brass? You mean they're taking us off the case because of... what happened earlier?"
Captain Larcon nodded grimly. "I don't know what strings they pulled, but yeah. They want this case handled by the SIU. Let's just say... it's bigger than us now."
"Something fishy is going on here. I don't trust the top brass," Alvin said, scratching his beard.
"I agree with you, Alvin. Something stinks about this whole entire thing. While you were talking, the top brass reassigned us just like that? Maybe we should look into it," Decker said with a sneer.
Captain Larcon's expression turned stern. "Now listen here. I'm warning the two of you: stay away from this case. It no longer concerns you. If I catch you sniffing around, I will suspend you both."
Decker smiled slyly. "We got the message, Captain. Loud and clear."
Alvin muttered under his breath, "Doesn't mean we're gonna listen, though."
Captain Larcon sighed. "I know the two of you are not going to listen. But you can't go at this case head on. That's why I'm reassigning you to work with Agent Wayne and Agent Williams. Because there's more than one way to skin a cat."
Alvin's eyes lit up with understanding. "I think we're getting the picture, Captain... You're telling us to dig in quietly."
Decker nodded almost imperceptibly. "We got it, Captain. We'll keep an eye on things... from a different angle."
The captain gave a slight nod, a hint of a smile on his face. "Why, Alvin and Decker, I have no idea what you are talking about," he said, winking. "Now get out of here and... work with Agent Wayne and Williams."
Decker smiled back, playing along. "Sure thing, Captain. We're on it."
As they left the captain's office, they were met by Agent Williams and Agent Wayne. "So, did you get your asses chewed off?" Williams asked with a smirk.
"We need to talk to you guys. We can't do it here. Don't close, the walls have ears. Plus, it's 9 :50 pm - the perfect time to get something to eat," Decker said with a smug smile.
Alvin chimed in, "I'm down for food. Where we headed?"
Wayne raised an eyebrow. "You guys know a spot that's open this late?"
Decker nodded. "I know just the place. Let's take a ride."
Shadow Snake appeared before the Wright family, dragging the five men behind him, bound by shadow chains. He knelt down, a cold smile spreading across his face. "Master Sebastian, I have returned. I have brought the ones responsible for the young Master's death."
The Wright family gazed at the captives, their faces twisted in anger and grief. Sebastian's eyes narrowed, his voice dripping with venom. "Bring them closer."
Shadow Snake yanked the chains, pulling the men forward. They stumbled, eyes wide with fear. Sebastian glared at them. "You killed my grandson. Why?"
Boss Josh stammered, "We were told to rob him... We didn't know who he was. Things just got out of hand."
Oliver's face twisted in rage. "Bullshit! You killed my son, and you're saying things got out of hand? I will kill you. Tell me who hired you."
Boss Josh shook in fear. "I...I don't know who it was. They just came to me from nowhere."
Shadow Snake spoke up. "I can dig into their memories."
Sebastian nodded. "Do it."
The men screamed as Shadow Snake worked his magic. When he finished, he stood, eyes gleaming. "They don't know who hired them. They met him in a brothel. I'll need to visit that brothel to see if they know anything."
Sebastian's expression turned cold. "Find out who hired them, Shadow Snake."
"Got it. What about these five?" Shadow Snake gestured to Boss Josh and his crew.
Oliver and Jenny stepped forward, eyes blazing. "Which one killed our son?"
Shadow Snake pointed at Boss Josh. "It was him."
Without warning, Jenny pounced, punching Boss Josh repeatedly, screaming "You killed my son, you bastard!" over and over. Oliver let her vent her anger for a bit before pulling her off.
The Wrights send a message.
Oliver let Jenny vent her anger for a bit before pulling her off Boss Josh.
"He's not worth it, my dear," Oliver said, then pulled a gun from his waist and shot Boss Josh three times, killing him instantly.
Oliver turned to Shadow Snake, eyes cold. "Kill the rest of them and dump their bodies someplace where the police can find them. Let them serve as a message to anyone who dares to cross the Wright family."
Shadow Snake nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "Consider it done."
Shadow Snake turned to the rest of Boss Josh's crew with a cold smile and killed all four of them. Their bodies slumped to the ground, lifeless.
Shadow Snake nodded, dragging the bodies away. The Wright family stood, their message clear: cross them, and you'll pay with your life.
