Dylan could only watch the girls arguing, his mind blank, unable to say a word. Finally, he quietly stood up, intending to go to the restroom to splash water on his face, but as soon as he took one step, "whoosh," four hands suddenly pulled him, making him stumble, but he ended up sitting back down in his chair.
"Where are you going?" Maya, Amy, Lena, and Ellie yelled in unison.
"Um... to the... restroom... wash my face," Dylan replied.
"Say it first, you're taking responsibility for me," Maya shouted.
"No, he has to take responsibility for me," Amy said, pushing Maya.
"Hey... he's taking responsibility for me," Lena shouted, pushing Amy and Maya.
"All of you be quiet, he belongs to me, and of course, he'll take responsibility for me," Ellie shouted, holding both of Dylan's shoulders.
They continued to argue and make a scene, but this time they completely surrounded Dylan, making him much dizzier than before. He began to raise both hands to his head, and his face looked incredibly stressed. He looked around, trying to find help, but his other classmates just watched the drama in front of them without moving. Some even took out their smartphones to record it, and it would surely be spread on social media as content.
"Oh man... someone please help," Dylan muttered.
"Hey, what is going on here?"
The four girls immediately went silent and turned to the door in front. A male teacher stood at the front of the class, apparently having just entered.
"What are you all doing? Sit down in your seats right away! Didn't you hear the bell ring?" the teacher asked in a booming voice.
"Yes, sir," all the students in the class replied.
"This isn't over," Maya, Amy, Lena, and Ellie said, wiping their tears and looking at each other, then turning to look at Dylan. "And you, don't you dare run away," the four of them said in unison.
They immediately grabbed their respective envelopes and put them away, then returned to their own seats. Dylan also returned to his seat. He couldn't move because Maya, Amy, Lena, and Ellie kept turning to stare at him like angry tigers continuously monitoring their prey for later consumption. But despite all that, Dylan felt a little relieved and could think, even though his heart was still pounding hard and his head was still spinning.
As his thoughts started to race everywhere, and all his dreams and aspirations shattered like glass thrown with a rock, suddenly "drrrt," his smartphone vibrated. He took it out of his pocket and opened the incoming message under the desk so the teacher wouldn't see. The message was from an unknown number and read:
"Good morning, Mr. Dylan Morgan. Please come to the office of Harrison and Friends law firm tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the reading of the will and the signing of asset transfer from Mr. Bruno Morgan. Thank you for your attention."
"Huh... Bruno Morgan? Grandpa? What happened to Grandpa? The reading of the will?" Dylan asked in his head, and of course, he became even more confused after seeing the message.
Dylan continued to stare at the message on his smartphone and tried to ignore the stares of the four girls, which were becoming more intense by the minute.
"I wonder what's going on? I'm genuinely curious," Dylan thought, looking at his smartphone.
After school, Dylan finally called the restaurant manager to say he was taking the day off and walked home, following the four beautiful girls in front of him in the school hallway, heading out of the building. Dylan, who actually didn't intend to seek attention because of his survival mode, ended up becoming the center of attention because Maya and Amy were walking on his left side, while Lena and Ellie were on his right.
Almost all the students who had just left their classes were focused on him because everyone was wondering who the ordinary-looking guy in the middle was that had conquered the four popular divas, who were known for being completely unattainable by any man. Heavy sweat began to drench Dylan's face.
He looked down and stared at the floor, as if fascinated by the tiles he was passing, just to avoid the piercing glares from the jealous guys who wanted to kill him, and also from the girls who were murmuring and gossiping, which he could still hear. Dylan glanced right and left.
"Um... why are you following me? During break, I told you I'd take responsibility for all of you... even if it's only child support," Dylan said.
"Ha! That's a funny question. Of course, we're going home with you. You know I'm boarding in this city," Maya said.
"Same here. I'm also living alone in this city," Amy added.
"Hmm... I already called Grandma, and she said it's okay. I can come to your house," Lena added.
"Huh... me too. Your parents were acquaintances of mine, and they're out of town right now," Ellie added.
"Duh... my house is small and old... it can't fit all of you," Dylan said.
"Ha!"
The four beautiful girls immediately stopped in front of Dylan, blocking his way. They stared at Dylan sharply and in sync.
"Are you going to keep this baby away from its father?" the four of them asked simultaneously, holding their stomachs and shouting.
The atmosphere in the corridor instantly went silent. The male students gathered as if ready to kidnap Dylan and drown him in the sea, while the female students looked shocked to hear the four of them shout. Dylan's face suddenly turned as red as a tomato.
He looked to the right and left, hoping no teachers heard them. Then he immediately looked at the four beautiful girls in front of him.
"Okay, okay... I understand... let's get out of here quickly," Dylan said, resigned and panicked.
The four girls in front of him suddenly smiled. Maya immediately held Dylan's left arm, and Lena held his right. Ellie immediately hugged Dylan from behind, and Amy hugged him from the front. Suddenly,
"Kill him! He's clearly the enemy of all single guys! Don't let him live!" the students who saw him shouted, pointing at Dylan as if they had been suppressing their emotions all this time.
"Waaaaaa," the female students who saw it shrieked in astonishment, though confused.
Dylan's face was truly very red. He looked slightly panicked, and everything suddenly became a blur as his heart pounded fast.
"It seems my life won't be long. I'll die soon, either murdered or too exhausted from work... sniff... why did it have to turn out like this?" Dylan muttered to himself.
Despite that, Dylan kept thinking about the message he received on his smartphone this morning. In his heart, he wondered what had happened to his grandfather. The only family member who still acknowledged him and his siblings, because his mother and father's relatives had refused to acknowledge them when their parents died and had instead distanced themselves from him and his siblings. After that, the girls held Dylan's arms and ran through the corridor to quickly get out of the school building together.
