240. Luna Kindred
After a long period of frenzy, she finally stopped, gasping for breath.
"Blood...blood..."
She murmured softly, her eyes pleading as she looked at Yun Ling.
Yun Ling was caught in a dilemma: to save her or not to save her—that was the question.
From a rational perspective, this vampire girl was a major problem. Not only did she need blood to survive, but she was also likely being pursued.
This was not good news for Yun Ling.
But from an emotional perspective, could Yun Ling really bear to watch this lovely girl die?
It was clear that the vampire girl had entered a state of unconscious berserk behavior; judging from her thirst for blood, let's call it a bloodthirsty state.
If Kongming hadn't restrained her, he probably would have been drained dry of blood.
Yun Ling wasn't confident he could defeat such a creature that only existed in fantasy.
"Should we save her or not?" Kongming suddenly asked.
"...Aren't you the boss here?" Yun Ling looked at Kongming with suspicion.
Although he had thought so much just now, the final decision shouldn't be in his hands.
"...Then kill her." Kongming's eyes turned cold, and she immediately intended to kill the vampire girl in front of them.
"Wait, wait..."
Seeing that Kongming was really about to make a move, Yun Ling hurriedly stepped in front of the vampire girl. After much deliberation, he picked up a nearby sharp object, cut his palm, and released some blood into a container.
Upon seeing the blood, the vampire girl's face was filled with longing; she even almost drooled.
Kongming deactivated the array, and the vampire girl rushed forward impatiently, hugging the container and drinking it in large gulps.
She even licked the container clean with her small, fragrant tongue.
But the actual amount of blood in it was not much, just about 50ml.
She licked her lips and looked at Yun Ling with a pitiful expression again.
"No, humans don't have that much blood production capacity. I can only give you this much." Yun Ling immediately hid his hand behind his back, wiping away the remaining blood.
The vampire girl's face was filled with dejection, and she nodded listlessly.
"What are you planning to do from now on? Keep feeding her blood?" Kongming snorted coldly, clearly dissatisfied with Yun Ling's approach.
"Let's take it slow." Yun Ling didn't know how to deal with this vampire girl.
Fortunately, in the following days, although the vampire girl frequently showed a thirst for blood, she didn't enter a bloodthirsty state.
Perhaps she wasn't hungry for the time being?
However, because Yun Ling was feeding her blood, she was exceptionally close to him, while showing a slight fear of Kongming.
Yun Ling, on the other hand, developed a strong protective instinct towards the vampire girl and would sometimes cautiously touch her.
"Be careful, she might suck you dry tonight," Kongming threatened, watching their intimacy.
After a few days together, Yun Ling had a general understanding of Kongming's personality.
Although sometimes domineering, she would largely consider his opinions on certain matters and try her best to fulfill his occasional small requests.
"Speaking of which, Miss Kongming, are you really planning to lock me up here forever?" Yun Ling raised an eyebrow.
"What are you trying to say?" Kongming shook her fan, looking at him.
"Uh... I want to go out and bask in the moonlight," Yun Ling explained.
There were very few ways to pass the time here, and it was so stuffy that even breathing fresh air was difficult.
"?" Kongming looked at him, puzzled.
"She said she didn't like daytime; the sun made her uncomfortable," Yun Ling explained.
"...Tsk."
"Did you just 'tsk'ed?" Yun Ling wondered if he had misheard.
"No, you misheard." Kongming waved her hand, deactivating the array at the door.
Finally, he breathed in the fresh air he hadn't felt in so long.
Yun Ling finally realized where he was.
It seemed to be in the back mountains of a village, a little far from Reichenbach Falls, and judging from the surroundings, it appeared to be a newly built dwelling.
"How did you manage to build such a dwelling in a place like this?" Yun Ling asked, puzzled.
"Just use an array," Kongming replied calmly.
"Arrays really are omnipotent," Yun Ling couldn't help but mutter.
Yun Ling took a deep breath; the cool breeze outside definitely smelled better than the air inside.
Of course, it wasn't that there was an unpleasant smell inside; on the contrary, there was a faint fragrance, perhaps from Kongming and the vampire girl.
But staying there for too long started to feel a little irritating.
The vampire girl came out and quietly came to Yun Ling's side, enjoying the cool mountain breeze with him.
Yun Ling had no intention of running away; after all, if Kongming dared to let him out, she must have a backup plan.
Kongming wasn't some naive fool; on the contrary, she was incredibly knowledgeable, possessing a transcendent air beyond her years.
"By the way, I haven't given you a name yet. Want me to help you choose one?" Yun Ling suddenly looked at the girl beside him.
"A-017..." The vampire girl seemed slightly displeased that Yun Ling hadn't remembered her name.
"I told you, this isn't a name." Yun Ling ruffled the vampire girl's hair.
The vampire girl showed a comfortable, cat-like expression, a slight blush making her even more endearing.
"Then... Ling, help me choose one." The vampire girl called out to him.
"Let me think... how about Cain?" Yun Ling suggested.
"Ugh! It doesn't sound good." The vampire girl puffed out her cheeks and shook her head.
"Then...Dracula?" Yun Ling continued.
"Not a cute name at all!" The vampire girl shook her head again.
He suggested several names, but none satisfied her.
Watching the girl's slightly anxious expression under the moonlight, her lovely face reflecting shimmering white light, Yun Ling's gaze involuntarily drifted to the full moon in the sky. The moon seemed particularly bright tonight.
"How about 'Luna'?" Yun Ling said spontaneously, looking at the moon high in the sky.
"Luna...Luna...Hmm, I like it! Thank you, Ling!" Luna readily accepted the new name.
She happily grasped Yun Ling's hand, her face beaming with uncontainable joy.
Kongming, behind them, watched the two quietly, without any further reaction.
She simply kept gazing at the girl who resembled her, pursing her lips, her feather fan partially obscuring half her cheek; no one knew what she was thinking.
Yun Ling and Luna admired the moon outside for a long time before finally snuggling together and falling into a deep sleep.
