Chapter 24 - Chat Group Online

Hinata POV

[Dimensional Chat Group has sent an invitation]

[Accept / Decline]

Staring at the screen for a moment, I finally made my choice.

[Congratulations on joining the group]

Fake Prince: Another one?! Is this thing just going to keep adding people endlessly?

White Queen: It seems I'll have to limit my use of telepathic powers. More and more personalities are appearing… though it's fortunate none of them can control me.

Fake Prince: I already told you, I'm not some imaginary being! I'm alive, you know! Hmph..just wait. Once I become a god, I'll find you and whoever forced this thing on me.

The Empire's Strongest: I thought I would find strong opponents, yet all I hear are delusional voices. Whatever Teigu this is, I'll find it and destroy it to free myself from this madness.

"..."

I think I recognise some of them.

The Empire's Strongest should be Esdeath, she mentioned Teigu, which clearly points to Akame ga Kill.

White Queen is most likely Emma Frost, the telepath from Marvel.

As for I am orphan… I can't recognise her at all. Then again, there are countless worlds where someone can rise to godhood.

In fact, even the ones I've identified might not be who I think they are. The Omniverse is far too vast for me to know everyone.

The Girl That Sees "Them": Boo hoo… in the past I could only see them. Now I'm hearing weird noises too. I'm definitely cursed.

Kusagakure's New Healer: I definitely shouldn't tell the other shinobi about the voices in my head this time. They beat me up last time.

Devil's Bishop: How am I supposed to save my sister? I'm sure he isn't going to let us go. Argh… I know these voices aren't going to help me, but I still want to talk to someone. I feel so lonely.

Nightingale: Looks like doing so many assassinations is continuously deteriorating my mental state more and more.

That one was easy. The healer had to be Karin. The tag "new healer" made it obvious that by now, her mother would already be dead, and she would have been forced to take her place.

Just imagining her being bitten again and again made my blood boil.

Calm down.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to recall the identity of the other one, but nothing came to mind. There were simply too many worlds, too many people born with special eyes or the ability to see things others couldn't.

Nightingale was clearly an assassin, but beyond that, there were no defining traits to know her identity.

Assassins existed in every corner of the Omniverse. Without more clues, guessing her identity would be nothing more than speculation.

The same problem applied to Devil's Bishop. Titles based on chess pieces were common sometimes symbolic, sometimes literal. It could be a devil hierarchy, a criminal organisation, a cult, or simply a codename used by a group's leadership. For all I knew, there might not even be actual devils involved in that world at all.

Shaking my head, I focused on the group again to see what functions were there. Most commonly in fanfiction, there are stores and spinning wheels, but the problem was…

"IT'S NOT THERE."

What the hell is wrong with this chat group? There isn't a single function like those fanfictions. If I can't get stronger with this, then what's the use of joining this group?

I checked again to see if there was something I missed, but no, other than the chat area and the members list, there was nothing in this group.

Fuck.

It should be illegal for something like this to exist.

"Sigh…" I shouldn't have joined this group.

Forget it. I'll at least see who else is part of this weird thing. Aside from the ones who already spoke, there were only three members who hadn't said anything yet.

One was called The Masterpiece, and the other Actor.

For some reason, I had a feeling that neither of them was normal.

The last one was called "The Bay Harbor Butcher", and if I wasn't wrong, the person is

Knock knock.

"Come in, Lilia," I said aloud, closing the chat group.

She entered the room and quietly closed the door. Don't tell me she's going to—

"Lady Hinata, I want to talk about Alpha."

"….."

"Sit." I folded my legs, giving her space.

As she sat down, I asked, "What happened? Did she do something?"

"No, she didn't do anything," Lilia shook her head, denying my assumption. "It's just… we were talking while you were away, trying to get to know each other better. I think she's quite sensitive when it comes to talking about her father."

Hmm…

"Well, he was killed right in front of her. There are bound to be aftereffects, especially since she's still a child."

Now that I thought about it, she had lost her family, and all I'd been doing was training her, completely overlooking her mental state. She hadn't complained and had simply gone along with everything, but that didn't excuse my negligence.

That was immature of me.

"I think it would be appropriate if you take her to visit that village."

It seemed Lilia had seen straight through my thoughts.

"Do you think it would work?" I asked, meeting her eyes.

She nodded. "It should. I have seen many others to do the same, it helps them recover."

"Alright, then we'll follow your advice," I said. "Talk to her, know our destination, and make the necessary arrangements. We'll be leaving in three days."

I didn't have much experience with matters like this, so it was better to listen to her. It seemed my decision to choose Lilia had been the right one. She noticed what I had overlooked until now.

"Thanks, Lilia." I truly appreciated her work. Cooking our meals, cleaning the house, and all the other things she did that might seem negligible at a glance but those small things mattered far more to some people, especially to us. She did them every single day, quietly taking care of all of us and making our lives easier.

"It's my duty," she said. With that, she stood up. "I'll prepare dinner."

As she left, I gave some thought to the people around me. Whether it was Alpha, Ghislain, Lilia, or Clair, I wasn't neglecting their material needs. For the first three, I was doing more than enough, and Clair didn't truly need me in that sense.

But that wasn't the issue.

I was neglecting their spiritual and emotional needs.

And in this world, those mattered far more than I'd been willing to admit. Power alone couldn't fill that gap. Trust, reassurance, happiness, those were just as important, if not more.

Maybe… I should start spending more time with them. Not for training or efficiency, but simply to check on them. To see how comfortable they truly were.

I opened the chat group again. It seemed most of the members believed the others were just fragments of their own split personalities. Which wasn't that strange. Each world had its own rules and common sense so why would anyone easily accept the existence of other worlds?

I have read stories like this countless times. Usually, new functions unlocked as more members joined, shops, lotteries, exchange systems.

But I couldn't assume that would happen here.

After all, this wasn't called an Omniverse Shopping Mall. It was an Omniverse Chat Group.

Maybe the only function of this system is to let us talk.

Still, something might happen if I actually engage with it.

I've already joined, so there's no point abandoning the experiment halfway through.

And who knows I might find something unexpected.

With that thought, I sent my first message.

GACHA PLAYER: So… from all your messages, I'm guessing we're all from different worlds, huh?
