I woke up slowly feeling safe and warm. Lorenzo's arms were still around me, exactly where they'd been when we fell asleep. My head was on his chest, and my hand was resting over his heart. We'd fallen asleep holding each other and somehow stayed that way all night.
For the first time since this marriage, I didn't immediately pull away. Instead, I lay there, listening to his heartbeat. I lifted my head slightly to look at his face. He was still asleep.
Then suddenly his eyes opened. I froze.
"How long have you been awake?" He asked in his husky voice.
"Not long."
"Liar. You've been watching me sleep." He accused me.
"I was not watching you sleep. I was just awake, and you happened to be there." I explained.
He smiled.
"How's your head?" He asked as his hand came up to touch the bandaged area on my head.
"It hurts. But I'll live."
"That's all that matters."
"We should get up." I said. "And figure out what we're doing about Bianca."
