Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Guilt and Grief

I woke up to seventeen missed calls from Sarah.

Now reality crashed back. My father was dead and in my rage and grief, I'd told Sarah to release everything immediately. To expose Brighton tonight, to coordinate with journalists, to burn it all down.

Had she done it? Had she released Vincent's recording while I was sleeping?

I called her back.

"Elena, thank God." Sarah's voice was tight with concern. "I've been trying to reach you. Are you okay?"

"Did you do it? Did you release the recording?"

"No. That's why I've been calling." She paused. "Elena, I know you wanted to move immediately. But I need you to listen to me. We can't release it yet."

"What? But you said"

"I know what I said. But after you left the cemetery, I started thinking about the logistics. And Elena, if we release this now, we're going to fail."

I sat up straighter. "What do you mean?"
