Chapter 48 - Family Affairs

BB worked fast but then he saw something, it was the face of Sugar, pinning Dials to the ground and stabbing him to the death.

"It won't work."

He sent a message into the mind of Scott.

"I thank you for listening. I must sound delusional with how everything has gone."

"Abort mission!"

"What?"

"Delusional, it means to be in a haze of sorts. But I thank you. I'll be looking into those parents of yours, wherever they are."

"Sure thing?"

"Yeah."

Scott half ran to the exit of the town where he met the elder BB. The old man had gone from pure white hair to greying hair and he lost his cane. He could walk again. Though, his age-old hunch that made him look far shorter than he actually was had stayed, he probably would never get rid of that.

"Alright, we have a huge problem."

"And that is?"

"Well, Sugar is going to [redacted] Dials. We can't let that happen."

"Yeah, I have something to tell you."

BB was so caught up in his thoughts that he could almost ignore the words Scott was about to tell him.

"Okay, go on ahead."

"Dials, he cares about you. He's a man. Not a monster."

"What?"

Dials was very open to Lighter about my intellectual success. Perhaps Lighter would take over his body and then he would end Dials as a way of getting at me. That seems pretty in character for him. So, that means that we need to finish Sugar's list.

"He told me about how he had a son and he loved him so much that it hurt his relationship with his other son."

"No. That can't be it."

Scott placed the memories into BB's mind as easy as dropping a pen. He's lying. He can't be telling the truth. These are false! A counterfeit! BB knew deep down that it was true.

"It's true."

"I can't take this anymore! We're going back to the ship now."

BB was in much distress as he and Scott walked back to the ship. On board, Lia and Dr. John was talking to one another. Though it didn't have the bad doctor's usual malevolent tone. Both of them were very formal and melancholic in mood. That was the least of their problems as Sugar suffered what was basically a complete loss of control as Lighter jumped around whilst being chained down.

He seemed to be in a bad mood. Later, they would call these blackouts.

"Oh BB! I want to tell you something!"

He put on a singsong voice as he screamed for his brother's company. Lighter wasn't as bright as BB, but he was absolutely better at planning. Meanwhile BB had shown himself to hold great amounts of knowledge and have an almost photographic memory from his mind.

"What is that?"

BB had no sympathy for his brother, though, he was absolutely understanding of what brought him so low. Envy had a stranglehold over his family. Sugar envied how BB had made him a bus boy, BB envied his father for being absent, and Lighter envied BB for being the smarter of the children.

"See, I have some information that may be important, see, I work at the E.P.F."

"I already knew that."

BB went for the door. He was trying not to laugh.

"Fine, I work for ODETTA. She made me make the plan. She sent the vision across time. She sent the poem to Alexander."

"Thanks for that. It seems that someone needs my attention more."

He has a deep desire for love. If I just ignore him, then he'll simply just give me more ammo. Dummy. ODETTA? I haven't heard that name in ages. She dropped us off after the manor fight and left us for dead. What could she possibly want from me?

"Any plans for the future?"

"No, I just need a minute. Lia, can you stop by my quarters later? We need to talk about your recent behavior."

"Yes, captain."

Lia had some bitterness in her voice. She seemed perfectly calm but inside she was a whirlwind on the loose and she was going to use her disciplinary time as a way to rip into BB for ever bringing her and Sugar on their stupid trip and to attack him for not properly saving him.

"Scott."

"Yes captain?"

Scott was woken up from his dreams to see BB hovering over him. For a moment, his old murder was going to kick in before he recognized him and his muscles eased. He thought for a moment about how it must've felt being one of the people that saw BB for the first time during his crime spree.

"I need somebody to watch Sugar and the doc is asleep."

"Get Alexander to do it!"

"I would do that if he wasn't chained up next to him."

BB thought about something he heard somewhere. The worst part of being the smartest guy in the room is that everyone else is dumber than you.

"Oh right."

"Go do it."

"I'll have an eye on him."

One of the many things that came with being a psychic was the fact that he could see numerous things at the same time. Including but not limited to, numerous tv shows, reading numerous books at the same time, and watching a movie as it is downloaded into a studio's hardware. When Scott was in his prime, he could've watched at least thirty movies at the same time, but BB somehow had some strange deductive skill that allowed him to recite every movie he ever watched beat for beat.

"Good. I expect you to take the kids fishing tomorrow."

"Fishing?"

"Yeah, fishing. It's a thing people do. So, either you do it or Dials does it."

"Fine.

"Alright then, night."

"Wait, just one thing."

"Yes?"

"You should go easier on the boy and your old man. I would've killed to see mine again."

BB, after experiencing so much emotion over those last few days, had found himself in an almost comatose state as he slept. No dreams, no ideas, nothing.
