Chapter 55 - Arrested By a Diner

"So, what scope did you get of him?"

BB and Scott were both giggling like dogs whilst Joey was left in a pit of confusion as his feet were wrapped in concrete of age that held him from the inside joke.

"He's not our guy but don't hold your breath."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"The man most likely participated in criminal activities."

"Huh?"

"Did you see his outfit? He was wearing slacks and a polo shirt that had his company logo on it."

Neither Joey nor Scott had realized the fact about his outfit. Another thing that slipped past their subconscious was the fact that people in such fields usually made a lot of money and it was the weekend.

"That doesn't mean anything. Maybe he's just going through a divorce."

"Actually, I read his report and surprise surprise, he never got a divorce or was threatened with one. He never had any kids and really liked to perform acts considered dastardly for the time."

"Like what?"

"Breaking and entering. That's just an example. He most likely has habits of a more sexual theme."

Joey had remained silent for the majority of their conversation and had seen that quite a lot of time had passed between the time of his passing and them returning.

"What happened to you guys?"

"What was that, Joey?"

"How long has it been?"

BB stared directly into Scott's eyes and delivered a simple message. Don't tell them how long.

"It's been nine years."

"Nine years. A lot can happen in that time."

Out of some random feeling, Joey had a deep feeling of suspicion against BB and Scott in his mind.

"Yes, it can. BB, do you remember when we were in prison?"

"Absolutely. I put the hunting vest around you and disabled the explosion."

"Nice to know you remembered."

BB's memories of his elder years were fainting from his mind. He was beginning to remember some words that he was told by Sears and Alexandria. He no longer had the deep nostalgia in his mind, and he was almost as if he had never stepped foot off the shuttle.

"So, who's next?"

BB and Joey were in a small stare off before Scott jumped into the fray as a way of easing tension with his little antics.

"Well, we should check in on Sears before he gets in a fight. Everyone knows he loves one of those."

They opened up their devices and looked at the trackers. Sears, he's at a diner. He's trying to get the talk of the town or to find some cops. I guess his work in the CIA is actually going to pay off.

"Okay, so he's right in there."

"This doesn't feel right."

"What are you talking about?"

Scott and Joey were going to enter the diner whilst BB was to find Mistress and pretend to be her legal guardian. She would use her mind to make herself look like a normal human, but she couldn't keep it up forever.

"Fine, I'll go in first."

Scott walked into the diner like he owned the place before he quickly found himself a seat at the bar. Across it was Sears, standing there in a deep conversation with a police officer who was just trying to find his daily donut.

"So, this guy, what makes you think that he is one of your guys?"

"This guy isn't on the force?"

"Well, one of the guys we brought in was there but that doesn't mean anything."

"A deputy?"

"No, he was a deputy but then he went off to law school and now he's the DA."

"The DA is a suspect? Now that's funny."

"Here here."

Sears was sitting at the bar and, unknown to anyone else around them, had slipped something into the deputy's drink and had sized him up. He was perfect for Sears to sneak into the man's outfit and to bring back some gas to ODETTA and he would have a realistic mask made for him.

"We have no evidence that it was him, actually, he's the one with the least amount of evidence. Did you know that he somehow is representing all of them on all of the charges? Whilst also being the district attorney!"

Sears put all those acting lessons to use as he then put on a face of pure shock. In actuality, he believed them to be a bunch of idiot hillbillies.

"Is that even legal?"

The conversation was quickly over. Nobody besides BB had reviewed the case files but when he was going to his police cruiser right behind the diner which the deputies used frequently as a way of quick and easy parking during the morning rush. Little did the deputy know, he would collapse shortly afterwards and be dragged off to the bushes.

"Don't tell me you're going to-"

Joey stared mortified at Sears and Scott as they dragged him into the bushes and began to strip him of his clothes and Joey had to pull his mind out of the gutter. Soon, Sears came out in an outfit that was a little snug, but it had been able to fit him all the same. The next course of action was to put Joey in the back of the cruiser.
