Fairy Tail Fanfiction - Chapter 10
Seeing the subtle changes in Noah's expression, Makarov coughed. He felt that if he didn't speak up soon, Noah would go further and further down the wrong path.
Waitresses are a very respectable profession, alright!
"Mira working part-time as a waitress was my request, as punishment for her recklessly putting Elfman and Lisanna in danger."
Noah nodded. Having a short-tempered tomboy do a service job that required a high degree of patience, Makarov was probably trying to temper Mirajane's personality.
Just then, a male Mage, about twenty years old, wearing a patterned vest and a skull necklace, came to the bar. He complained, "Mira, why hasn't my drink arrived yet? I'm about to leave for a job."
"Really, Nab?"
"I saw you loitering in front of the request board for almost an entire morning. Did you really find a job that only you can complete?"
"If you dare to lie to me, the consequences will be dire~"
Mirajane's eyes curved with a smile, but to Nab, it looked like a demon issuing a death threat.
So scary!
"Sorry, I still haven't found a job."
Although he knew Mirajane wouldn't do anything out of line in front of the Guild Master, Nab still decisively backed down and didn't continue to be stubborn.
"Oh, then how about working as a guild waiter? Nab, you can definitely handle this job alone."
His spirits thoroughly crushed, Nab scurried away.
Noah couldn't bear to watch anymore. "Mira, aren't you being too harsh on him? It might hurt his pride..."
"Hurt his skull!"
Mirajane introduced to Noah, "Nab's Magic is Animal Possession, a type of Seith Magic. He can confine the spirit of a deceased animal within himself and then use that spirit to aid him in battle."
It sounded like a different approach from Elfman's Magic. Take Over could achieve full-body transformation, while Animal Possession allowed Nab to summon animal spirits to enhance specific aspects of his power.
Nab came from a tribe living deep in the forest. This tribe was naturally close to animals, and everyone knew Animal Possession.
After the age of fifteen, some tribesmen would choose to leave their homes and complete a challenging task alone to demonstrate their growth.
Nab was one such self-challenging tribesman.
Unfortunately, in the five years since joining this guild, Nab had not found a high-difficulty job that he could complete alone.
Over time, Nab gradually developed the habit of lingering in front of the request board, and his "dream" remained a distant prospect.
Noah looked back at the figure standing again in front of the request board. A person bound by dreams, but ultimately, it was due to insufficient strength.
Unfortunately, Noah couldn't help much either. Currently, besides his physical combat skills and the newly acquired Fire Resistance (Strong), Noah's use of Magic was limited to the mastery of Magic items.
And even for Magic items, Noah only had the war weapon Dorma Anim given by his old father before the teleportation.
Fortunately, he still had nearly 9 million Jewels in funds and could consider buying one or two Magic items.
However, Noah currently wanted to clear out the warehouse first. Makarov said that most of the guild's books were carefully organized Magic theory and knowledge by Fairy Tail's second Guild Master, which were very beneficial.
But as the dignified Second Prince of Edolas, how could Noah personally clean up? Besides, he couldn't manage it alone.
It was Makarov's "punishment" for Mirajane that gave Noah an idea.
Turning to face the guild hall, looking at the sparsely seated guild members, Noah cleared his throat and spoke loudly.
"Everyone!"
"There are books I need in the warehouse, but I can't clean it by myself, so I need some help from all of you."
"It's not unpaid work; there's a 5,000 Jewels appreciation fee per person."
"There are only ten spots. If you don't mind cleaning and organizing supplies, you can sign up now."
Noah initially thought only a small number of people would respond, as 5,000 Jewels was a meager reward that could easily be earned by doing any job.
But as soon as he finished speaking, the atmosphere in the hall suddenly became fiery, like oil poured on a flame, with people completely surrounding the bar.
After some confirmation, Noah decided on the ten spots. And because of the warehouse cleaning, Noah remembered their names.
First was Macao, one of the two middle-aged men who teased Mirajane yesterday.
Next were Jet, Droy, and a petite girl named Levy. The three of them were a team.
A lightly dressed girl named Cana, but she was reeking of alcohol and very drunk, making one doubt if she was conscious.
Nab returned; no matter how important a dream was, a person still had to eat.
A male Mage named Warren, who looked very ordinary.
Elfman and Lisanna, the siblings, also came.
The last one was a young man named Gray, who couldn't stand Natsu.
"Jet, you have High Speed Magic, yet you were a step slower than Uncle Macao. Are you even capable...?"
Droy complained to his good friend, and Jet tried hard to explain, "What do you know? A middle-aged man with a wife and son, his pressure is enough to make him burst out with speed faster than High Speed!"
Macao, who was inexplicably attacked, gave a wry smile but couldn't argue. Although the pressure of family finances gave him a headache, thinking of his beautiful wife and lovely son made it all worthwhile.
Warren proactively stepped forward to communicate with Noah. "When organizing the warehouse, if there's anything you need to convey, you can let me do it."
Warren's Magic was Telepathy, which could transmit his thoughts to people within a certain range, and he could also read enemies' minds during battle.
"Alright, hurry up and get to work in the warehouse, or Cana will fall asleep soon." Gray supported the bleary-eyed Cana. The smell of alcohol on her made him a little uncomfortable. How much did she drink to get this drunk?
Lisanna had already prepared the cleaning tools. Elfman carried a bundle of brooms and held a bucket in one hand. "A man must work hard to clean!"
Noah looked at the highly motivated Elfman. Indeed, just as Mirajane said, he no longer showed his timidity. It's just that this "man" catchphrase might be unnecessary...
"Everyone, thank you for your hard work."
The warehouse was at the back of the hall. Noah also moved a stool, ready to follow his companions, but as he was about to cross the hall, the feeling of being watched made him involuntarily look up.
A blond man with lightning-bolt shaped headphones was leaning against the railing on the second floor, staring at Noah without any restraint.
Upon seeing Noah discover him, the blond man showed a hint of disdain at the corner of his mouth, then disappeared from Noah's sight.
Noah was confused, not knowing where he had offended that blond man, and finally could only attribute it to one thought.
"He must be crazy."
