Azoth: I wonder what is beyond the forest today
Azoth walked carefully through the trees The shadows moved and the wind whispered through the leaves The small wooden box tied to his belt swung slightly with each step He held it close as always
Azoth: I should keep going maybe someone needs help
Suddenly a small voice called from above
Child: Hey you down there what are you doing in the forest
Azoth looked up and saw a girl sitting on a branch of a tall tree Her hair was messy and her feet dangled She smiled curiously
Azoth: I am just walking I am Azoth
Girl: I am Lila I am looking for my cat
Azoth: Your cat is lost here
Lila: Yes I think so
Azoth: I can help you
Lila: Really you would do that for me
Azoth: Yes everyone deserves help
He followed her through the forest They climbed small hills and crossed streams Azoth carried a small rope in case they needed it
Azoth: Did you come here alone
Lila: Yes my parents are far away They said I could play in the forest
Azoth: It can be dangerous alone
Lila: I know but I wanted to see the trees
Azoth: Then we will find your cat together
After a while they heard a soft meow [searching sound]
Lila: That is him I hear him
Azoth: There he is
A small black cat was stuck on a low branch Its tail hanging down
Azoth: I will get him carefully [gentle climb and catch]
He climbed slowly and took the cat into his arms Lila jumped down from her branch
Lila: Thank you so much you saved him
Azoth: You are welcome I like helping
Lila: Can you come with me to show my house
Azoth: I think I can
They walked together and the little black cat followed behind Azoth felt happy that he could make someone smile
When they reached the small cottage a woman came out
Mother: Lila you are safe thank you young man
Azoth: I am Azoth she is safe now
Mother: You are very kind we have some food if you want to eat
Azoth: Thank you very much
They sat by the fire and shared warm bread and tea The cat curled up beside Azoth and purred
Lila: Will you stay with us tonight
Azoth: No I must keep walking
Lila: Oh I wish you could
Azoth: Maybe one day I will return
He packed his small bag and tied the box tightly He waved goodbye and started walking toward the mountains in the distance
Azoth: The world is bigger than I thought
The mountains were tall and cold snow covered the top He shivered slightly but kept moving The road was rocky and uneven
Azoth: I have to be careful
Suddenly a gust of wind blew hard [strong wind push] He stumbled and almost fell He grabbed a rock to steady himself
Azoth: That was close
He heard a roar in the distance [distant growl] A large creature appeared on the ridge It looked like a mix of a wolf and a bear Its eyes glowed red
Azoth: I do not want to fight but I must protect myself
He picked up a sturdy stick [defensive stance]
Creature: Grrr
Azoth: Stay back
The creature lunged toward him [quick attack] Azoth jumped aside and swung the stick [simple counter] The creature roared and tried again He ran toward a small cave nearby to hide
Azoth: Maybe I can trick it
He threw a small stone toward the left [distraction trick] The creature ran after it giving Azoth time to slip inside the cave The darkness was cold and quiet but he felt safe
Azoth: I think it is gone
He lit a small piece of wood to see The cave was empty except for a few bats hanging from the ceiling He breathed slowly and calmed himself
Azoth: I have to keep moving tomorrow
He slept lightly in the cave The stars outside shone brightly and he felt small but not afraid The box was warm against his chest
The next morning Azoth climbed out and saw the mountains stretching endlessly He took a deep breath
Azoth: I will reach the top one step at a time
He started climbing The rocks were slippery and sharp but he moved carefully Sometimes he slipped but he caught himself quickly He stopped at a small ledge to rest
Azoth: This is harder than I thought
Suddenly he heard a cry [help call] He looked around and saw a young boy hanging from a branch above a cliff
Azoth: Hold on I will help you
He tied a rope to a sturdy tree and climbed carefully [rescue attempt] He reached the boy and held him tight
Azoth: Grab my hand
Boy: I am scared
Azoth: I will not let go
He pulled the boy slowly and carefully [rescue pull] They both reached the ground safely
Boy: Thank you I thought I would fall
Azoth: You are safe now
Boy: Can you come with me
Azoth: I must keep walking but you are brave
The boy smiled and ran back to his family nearby Azoth watched them and felt happy again He touched the box
Azoth: You are always with me
He continued climbing higher The wind grew stronger and snow started to fall [cold weather challenge] He shivered but wrapped his cloak tighter Around him the mountains were quiet and full of beauty
Azoth: I wonder what is at the top
He finally reached a small plateau He looked around and saw clouds below him and the sun shining on the peaks It was quiet and peaceful
Azoth: I think this is a good place to rest
He sat on a rock and opened the box just a little He did not open it fully but touching it gave him strength
Azoth: Maybe one day I will know why I carry you
The wind whispered through the mountains and he felt a calm happiness He knew the road ahead would be long but he was ready to walk it
