The airport was buzzing with noise, but Lili barely noticed. Her heart was pounding, her hands clammy, and her eyes scanning every arriving passenger. Months of anticipation, calls, messages, hair tie battles, and promises had led to this moment.
Then she saw him.
Dewdrop. Standing near the exit, backpack slung over one shoulder, grinning nervously but radiating that same warmth she had fallen for. Their eyes met, and for a second, the world seemed to pause.
"Lili," he breathed, as if saying her name could somehow make her real in front of him.
"Dewdrop," she whispered back, a laugh trembling in her throat.
Before either of them could think, they were running toward each other. She stumbled slightly over her own feet, and he caught her mid-laugh. Their foreheads touched, breath mingling, and the first laugh spilled into tears.
"I've missed you so much," she murmured.
"Me too," he said softly. "More than words can say."
They stood like that for a moment — holding, laughing, and letting the months of distance, worry, and longing melt away.
Finally, she pulled back slightly, just enough to look into his eyes. "You're really here."
"I am," he said, grinning. "And I'm never leaving."
They spent the day walking through the streets she loved, stopping for ice cream, teasing each other like always, and laughing at silly inside jokes that had survived every call, every message, every hair tie thrown through screens.
At sunset, Dewdrop handed her a small box. She opened it carefully — a delicate necklace with two tiny intertwined hearts.
"For you," he said softly. "A reminder. No matter what, we're together now."
Tears filled her eyes as she leaned into him. "It's perfect. Just like us."
He kissed her forehead gently. "Perfectly us."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, they walked hand in hand, laughing, whispering, and sharing quiet glances. Months of waiting had ended, but everything else — the love, the teasing, the shared dreams, the promises — was just beginning.
And in that moment, across laughter, sunlight, and soft smiles, they knew: no distance, no rules, no challenge could ever come between them. They were finally together, and that was everything.
The long calls, the letters to the future, the hair tie battles, the understanding, the patience — it had all led to this.
And they would carry it forward, step by step, heart to heart, together.
