Chapter 3 - Beelzeebub

This so-called Spiritual World could be seen when one closed their eyes, and within their head, a piece of void would emerge. A normal person would continually imagine in this void, and just like movie fragments, there would be those indistinct scenes. When one emptied their mind and stopped thinking, the mind became a void… just like a sky without a star.

Inside Damon's spiritual world, within that endless void, emerged a "Red Star Cluster"!

Seven stars floated erratically, surrounded by beautiful red dust illuminating the black expanse with a fierce brightness.

"Fire element…" Damon muttered, entering a state of daze. Captivated by the breathtaking sight before him, within his spiritual world he felt as if he were floating in space, far away from civilization, observing the birth of red stardust.

Among the basic elements most magicians awaken—lightning, fire, earth, water, light, and wind—the red stardust symbolized the Fire element. A fierce element known for its combat-ready nature and destructive power, it was counted among the best elements one could awaken.

Damon had awakened the Fire element as his primary element.

Three years had passed since that awakening, and now his element stood at Level 2 of the Primary/Novice rank.

"Well, three years of hard work for Level 2 Novice rank… not comparable to Mo Fan or main characters, but still impressive."

Even though it had been a long time since Damon last read *Versatile Mage*, he still remembered the Bo City Calamity, during which Mo Fan reached the Intermediate rank in not one but two elements—a truly monstrous cultivation speed, unheard of among normal mages.

Compared to main characters, Damon's progress might seem unimpressive, but for a normal person without support, it was actually genius-level speed.

See, first of all, in magic high school, it's not all about cultivation. Lessons, assignments—all those things took time. Mo Fan, initially a dropout before being recognized as a genius, focused solely on cultivation and battle. Lacking theoretical and foundational knowledge of the world, he basically remained a musclehead throughout the story.

With less time than the protagonist to practice control and meditation, and without the Little Loach's support—while also focusing on school teachings—Damon's slower progress was understandable, yet still comparable to geniuses.

"Peak of Level 2…" Starting at the peak of Level 2 was the result of the original Damon's years of hard work.

Unlike Mo Fan, or other fanfics where main characters possess multiple elements, Damon instead had designed a "normal genius mage" as his MC. Yeah, the gap between Mo Fan and Damon was large, and with just that it would've been hard to make him the main character of his story—but with the cheat he had given Damon… haha, it was the other way around.

Satisfied with the starting point and the feeling of magic, Damon nodded to himself before shifting focus to the real thing he was here for.

His chest—his designed power—something that would make even the Little Loach look disappointing in some ways.

"Beelzeebub."

As the name left Damon's mouth, the void of his spiritual world shook. Cracks began to appear all over the black space, splintering like glass as ominous energy surged from within.

A swirling mass of purple energy, dark and unsettling, emerged from the cracks, merging into a sphere before Damon. The sphere then began to dissolve as the spiritual world healed itself.

The cracks receded, vanishing completely, while the sphere of energy flattened, forming a translucent window before him.

"Hooh… yes." Looking at the screen in front of him, Damon's heart beat faster.

His excitement knew no bounds—he knew exactly what this meant.

It wasn't a system—nothing like that—but rather a screen connected directly to his body, formed from his fusion with Beelzeebub. Proof that they were now one.

[Core Of Beelzeebub]

[Host: Damon Morningstar]

[Functions:

Gluttony's Devour: Devour knowledge present in books, magic, and non-living objects.

- Inventory: Store anything non-living inside the infinite stomach.

Pride's Authority: Allows permanent changes to the physical body. Nourishment and healing through organic matter. Assimilation of traits from devoured specimens.

Envy's Hand: Allows one to see and contact souls, and perform any and all actions to their maximum potential.]

"..."

Staring at the words on the hovering screen, Damon was speechless. His mind went blank as he read the functions again and again.

"…Fuck, I'm overpowered." That was all he could say, dumbly staring at the screen.

It had been so long since he'd written the fanfic that even though he remembered the core idea, the details had faded from his mind. Now, looking at the screen before him, Damon didn't know what to say. Knowing both the magical laws of this world and the true potential of these abilities, his heart practically leapt out of his chest.

Placing a hand over his pounding heart, he tried to calm his surging excitement.

A mad grin spread across his lips as his blood boiled with exhilaration.

Combining the properties of three of the Seven Sin Grimoires from *The Book Eating Magician*, he had forged the Core of Beelzeebub.

He had removed a lot of functions—like Gluttony's Library, Hall of Fame, Transmission, and others—and formed this overpowered cheat by merging their core concepts.

Taking Gluttony's main ability to devour books, magic, and all forms of knowledge—storing or assimilating them into oneself—he built the foundation of Beelzeebub. Envy's power to devour both physical and astral bodies amplified this even further, allowing interaction with souls and the ability to perform any action to its maximum potential. Finally, Pride's Authority, though smaller in role, granted modification of his physical form and the ability to transcend human limits.

Seeing these abilities, Damon could only let out an awkward chuckle.

"…Fuck, now I remember," he muttered. "Why I dropped this fanfic."

Though laziness played a role, the main reason was that he had made the protagonist far too overpowered from the start.

Just writing these wish-fulfillment abilities alone made it impossible to advance the plot. As someone who hated when authors nerfed their characters, Damon didn't want to limit his MC's power—and so he simply dropped the story.

He had written only two chapters, explaining Damon's background and his powers. The story began after the Bo City Calamity, because he couldn't justify the MC having such powers for three years and still being weak for the sake of plot. He also didn't want to force the character to stay in Bo City during the calamity—it would've felt contrived.

And so, with no clear direction and an overpowered protagonist, Damon abandoned it.

But now… that world had come alive once more.

Starting from this point, it was no longer a world dictated by plot—but a world dictated by strength.

Welcome to the World of Magic, Devourer.
