Chapter 4 - Demon attack

Jaegun lay tangled in Ji-hyun's arms, their bodies still humming from the marathon of passion in his bedroom. Her skin was warm against his, her breath soft on his neck. The air was heavy with the scent of sweat and sex, but her words lingered heavier. "Round two tomorrow?" he'd teased, half-expecting her to laugh it off. Instead, Ji-hyun's lips curled into a wicked smile, her eyes glinting with mischief.

"Tomorrow?" she purred, tracing a finger down his chest. "Why wait? Let's go out tonight. Somewhere... risky." Her voice was low, dripping with promise, and Jaegun's pulse quickened again despite the exhaustion.

"Risky, huh?" His wit sparked, masking the fresh surge of desire. "What, like sneaking into a movie theater or something actually dangerous? I'm not sure I can keep up with you, Ji-hyun."

She laughed, sitting up, her naked curves catching the lamplight. "Oh, you'll keep up, handsome. Get dressed. I know a place."

An hour later, they were in her sleek black Mercedes, speeding through Seoul's neon-lit streets. Ji-hyun had slipped into a tight leather skirt and a low-cut blouse, looking every bit the seductive actress Jun Ji-hyun she resembled. Jaegun, in jeans and a fitted black shirt, couldn't stop stealing glances at her thighs as she drove. The city blurred past—Gangnam's glittering high-rises giving way to quieter, industrial outskirts. She pulled into a deserted parking lot behind an abandoned warehouse, the kind of place where the streetlights barely reached.

"Romantic spot," Jaegun quipped, eyeing the cracked asphalt and rusted chain-link fence. "You sure this isn't where you hide bodies?"

She smirked, killing the engine. "Shut up and get over here." Before he could reply, she climbed over the center console, straddling him in the passenger seat. Her lips crashed into his, hungry and urgent, her hands tugging at his shirt. The car's interior was cramped, but that only made it hotter—the leather seats creaking, windows fogging as their bodies pressed together.

"Fuck, Ji-hyun," he gasped between kisses, hands sliding under her skirt. No panties. "You're gonna kill me."

"Worth it," she whispered, grinding against him, her breath hitching as he freed himself from his jeans. She sank onto him, both moaning at the tight, slick connection. The car rocked with their rhythm, her nails digging into his shoulders, his hands gripping her hips. She rode him hard, head thrown back, breasts bouncing under her blouse.

"Harder," she demanded, voice raw. "Make me scream, Jaegun."

He thrust up, matching her pace, the thrill of the public setting fueling his lust. "You're insane," he panted, smirking. "What if someone sees?"

"Let them," she moaned, clenching around him. "I want them to know how good you fuck me."

Their climax built fast, her cries echoing in the confined space, his grunts mingling as he spilled inside her. They collapsed, panting, her forehead resting against his. "Goddamn," he muttered. "You're trouble."

She giggled, kissing him softly. "You love it."

But before they could bask in the afterglow, the car shook violently, as if struck by a battering ram. A guttural snarl tore through the night, and Jaegun's blood ran cold. Ji-hyun yelped, scrambling off him as the driver's side window shattered, glass spraying inward. A humanoid figure loomed outside—tall, cloaked in shadow, its skin an unnatural gray, eyes glowing red like dying embers. Claws like blackened steel raked across the car's hood, leaving deep gouges.

"What the fuck is that?" Jaegun shouted, zipping up his jeans, heart hammering.

Ji-hyun's face was pale, eyes wide with terror. "I—I don't know! Get out, Jaegun, run!"

The creature lunged, its claw smashing through the windshield. Jaegun shoved Ji-hyun toward the passenger door, but the thing grabbed his arm, yanking him half-out of the car. Pain seared through his forearm as its claws tore flesh, blood dripping onto the seat. He screamed, kicking wildly, but the creature's grip was iron.

Then something snapped inside him. A primal rage, a heat unlike anything he'd felt, surged from his core. His vision blurred, then sharpened—colors too vivid, sounds too loud. The pain in his arm faded, replaced by a pulsing energy that made his skin tingle. "Get off me!" he roared, voice not entirely his own, deeper, resonant.

A blast of raw, violet energy erupted from his hand, slamming into the creature. It howled, a sound like metal scraping bone, and stumbled back, its chest smoldering. Jaegun didn't think—he acted. Another pulse shot out, this time a focused beam that punched through the creature's torso. It collapsed, dissolving into a pile of ash and ichor, the air reeking of sulfur.

Ji-hyun stared, mouth agape. "Jaegun... what was that?"

He blinked, chest heaving, the energy fading as fast as it came. His arm throbbed again, blood soaking his sleeve. "I... I don't know." His knees buckled, and he slumped against the car, dizzy.

Headlights swept across the lot, tires screeching as three black SUVs pulled in. Figures in dark coats spilled out, moving with military precision. A shimmering barrier, like a heat haze, snapped up around the parking lot, sealing it off. Jaegun's head spun as a woman approached, her boots clicking on the asphalt. She was in her thirties, sharp-featured, with short black hair and a trench coat that billowed slightly. A silver badge glinted on her chest—an intricate sigil.

"Stay where you are," she said, voice calm but commanding. Her eyes flicked to the ash pile, then to Jaegun's bleeding arm. "You killed a Grade 3 demon. Low-level, but still... impressive for an untrained human."

Ji-hyun clutched Jaegun's uninjured arm. "Who are you? What's happening?"

The woman ignored her, crouching beside Jaegun. "I'm Inspector Lee, Arcanist Division. We handle... anomalies like this." She gestured to the others, who were sweeping the area with strange, glowing devices. "You're lucky we were tracking that thing. Didn't expect a civilian to take it down."

"Arcanist?" Jaegun's voice was weak, but his wit flickered. "Sounds like a fancy word for wizard cop. Am I under arrest for blowing up a monster?"

Lee's lips twitched, almost a smile. "Not quite. But you've got questions to answer. That power you used—it's not normal. You're not normal." She stood, offering a hand. "Come on, we'll get you patched up and take you home."

Ji-hyun helped him stand, her hands trembling. "Is he okay? What was that thing?"

"He'll live," Lee said, inspecting Jaegun's arm. "Just a flesh wound. As for the demon, let's just say it's not your problem anymore." Her team finished their sweep, the barrier dissolving as they packed up.

Lee led them to her SUV, a medic bandaging Jaegun's arm in the back seat. Ji-hyun sat close, her earlier seductiveness replaced by worry. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't know... this wasn't supposed to happen."

Jaegun managed a weak grin. "Yeah, well, next time pick a less demonic parking lot, okay?"

The drive was quiet, the city lights blurring past. Lee dropped Ji-hyun off first at her Gangnam apartment. Ji-hyun hesitated, squeezing Jaegun's hand. "Be careful, okay? I... we'll talk later." She glanced at Lee warily before exiting.

Alone with Jaegun, Lee drove toward his place. "You've got potential, kid," she said, eyes on the road. "That kind of power doesn't just manifest. The Academy will be in touch soon. They'll want to test you, see what you're capable of."

"Academy?" Jaegun's head was still foggy. "What, like Hogwarts for demon slayers?"

She chuckled dryly. "Something like that. Rest up. You'll need it."

At his apartment, he stumbled inside, collapsing on the couch. His arm ached, but his mind was a storm. What had happened to him? That power, that rage—it wasn't him. Or was it? He didn't know, but as he drifted into uneasy sleep, one thing was clear: his routine life was over.
