Chapter 89: Resemblance
Omega exclaimed in surprise, "This sounds like a creation of humankind, a remnant of humanity's golden age?"
The bridge, occupied by only two people, was softly lit, and a 3D data model moved slowly. Alpharius explained meaningfully.
"Indeed, during the golden age of humanity, we relied excessively on AI and intelligent robots. AI entirely executed countless extremely complex designs and manufacturing processes, and we humans were completely unaware of the underlying logic and principles!"
"The large-scale use of AI led to a situation where humans in the Golden Age were unable to understand the mechanical creations around them, and AI gradually took over the dominant role!"
"Later, an AI rebellion occurred, and human civilization paid a hefty price, plunging into a dark age. However, powerful AIs could still operate autonomously even outside of human society, ruling over hundreds of billions of mechanical creations!"
"They are things that should not exist. We must completely eradicate them!"
"Then let's go and wipe them out. Even if there are many of them, it will only take a little longer!" Omega felt that there was something more to the other party's words. In any case, the Imperium should follow the program and destroy any strong AI it encounters.
Alpharius smiled and nodded, directing the Legion to perform a warp jump. In space, the massive warships' warp engines flashed and disappeared one after another.
After exploring the media sector and reflecting on his experience, Omega realized he did not have a deep-seated aversion to AI.
A large part of the reason was that research into faster-than-light spacecraft was inseparable from the use of powerful supercomputers.
He possessed the wisdom and knowledge of a sage. Every sage had a specialty, and he excelled most in programming and space technology.
The challenges of space technology and faster-than-light spacecraft included the need for super-powerful computers and the potential for negative influences, such as warp contamination and the temptation to corrupt scientists.
Even someone as powerful as a Primarch, whose brain processing power was like that of a supercomputer, had limits.
The computational demands of developing faster-than-light spacecraft technology were enormous.
After some reasoning and screening, he found that strong AI was the most suitable tool for researching faster-than-light spaceships and high-dimensional space technology.
But now the leader of the Imperium was the Emperor, and under his ideology, the entire Imperium wanted nothing less than to annihilate strong AIs. Even the powerful Mechanicus had deviated from this path to research biological computers.
He knew that there were evil gods in the warp and that daemons could influence many aspects of the real universe from the warp.
Compared to the unbelievable power of the evil gods and the illogical physical existence of the shards of the C'tan, the powerful AI was simply adorable.
With the appropriate use of powerful AI, the strength of the entire Imperium would undergo a dramatic transformation.
These were ideas that Omega could only keep deep inside his heart.
As the saying goes, being one step ahead of others was genius, but being ten steps ahead was madness. He didn't want to be seen as a madman or a degenerate monster.
Meanwhile, in a hall of the palace in Holy Terra, where the Regent's office was located, the grey-robed Malcador was rhythmically processing files. The files on his desk were piled up so high that only the gaps between them allowed anyone to see him.
That wasn't all. The hall was filled with countless files; the sheer volume of documents processed by the vast Imperium was unimaginable.
To manage the vast Imperium, the Imperial government had many officials who died each year from exhaustion alone from administrative work.
Because there were so many files, so many that they were like a sea, these officials were struggling in an ocean of documents.
According to Erda's theory that mindsets were age-related, Malcador's aged and somewhat hunched appearance as an immortal was mainly due to being too tired and busy.
A lightly armored assassin strolled through the rows of archives on either side and arrived before him.
Malcador turned slightly, revealing half his profile, and calmly asked, "How is the investigation going in the Medias sector? Are there any anomalies?"
The assassin hesitated as he reported.
"The development of that star sector has been unexpected. The cities are functioning normally, but there are scattered forces in the wilderness that are being ignored!"
After saying this, he handed over the specially stored data file. Malcador immediately read the investigation report through the cogitator array computer, skimming through a large amount of data and focusing on the content related to warp daemons.
However, upon discovering that there was no relevant information, he asked with some surprise, "Why is there no information about this sector related to the warp?"
The assassin replied, "We've only investigated five planets so far and haven't found any information about warp-related evil. However, we did find a few scattered psykers. After capturing and interrogating them, we found they were all normal!"
"In other words, the main evil in this sector are those criminals who escaped city management and established their power in the wild!" Malcador understood and realized something was amiss.
No wonder Alpharius wasn't worried at all about him investigating. The more data he examined, the more even Malcador frowned. The complexity of the population in the Medias sector was beyond imagination. There were all sorts of people there.
Already weary of the Imperium's massive government, he patiently examined the sector and was surprised by its management.
The unexpected way in which problematic humans from other star sectors were transformed into law-abiding citizens building cities was definitely not Alpharius's doing, but rather the work of the newly returned Primarch.
Judging from the previous conversation between Omega and the Emperor, the other party's wisdom and mindset were so astonishing that even the Emperor was shocked when they first met.
Malcador, unusually, spent an hour reviewing the intelligence. After his initial surprise, he became concerned about Omega's innovative and unconventional approach.
"Interesting. Continue monitoring all planets in the Medias Sector. Notify the Primarch of the Alpha Legion, Alpharius Omegon, of any unusual activity!"
"Human nature isn't so easily manipulated. Doing things this way is bound to lead to unexpected problems!"
"Yes!" the assassin replied clearly. After their investigation, they were also shocked by the Alpha Legion's actions and strongly agreed with the Sigillite's point of view.
Besides Malcador's group, another group arrived in space outside the planet Greenworld. Their massive fleet of thousands of warships blotted out the sun, and the city armies on the planet's surface quickly spotted them.
On the Legion's flagship, which stretched over twenty kilometers in length, Konrad Curze, the Night Haunter, smirked as he looked at the planetary model data.
"Sevitarion, this is the planet ruled by my youngest brother. Greet the officials on this planet and tell them we've come to help them eradicate evil!"
"We're professionals at this!"
"Yes, Primarch!" Jago Sevatarion knew Curze's principles.
Their home world, Nostramo, was teeming with criminals, thieves, and murderers. Murder, theft, fraud, mutilation, and suicide were countless.
It was the Primarch who ended it all with fear, bringing the crime rate on the entire planet to near zero. People lived in fear, yet society as a whole made significant progress.
In Omega's view, Curze's method of governing his home world of Nostramo through fear, which involved conducting secret, righteous trials, was much like Batman's, minus the killing and ruling part.
This method of governance, operating behind the scenes, was somewhat similar to what the Alpha Legion in the Medias Sector was doing now, but in this sector, the real rulers were mortal officers and Tech-Priests.
When Curze was informed of the large number of criminals being brought to this sector, he was very excited to learn about the similar governance methods used here.
Because he felt he had found his kindred spirits, the Alpharius brothers, who were just like him.
Thinking of this, and recalling how polite and courteous this brother was at the palace, just like Guilliman, Curze couldn't help but chuckle to himself.
"You hypocrite, you're just like me!" Curze shouted inwardly with satisfaction.
Sevatarion immediately contacted the ten mayors of the planet to inquire whether they needed help in eliminating the villains.
Without exception, they were all rejected. In fact, the ten mayors immediately informed each other that they would seek help from the Alpha Legion if needed.
Jago Sevatarion knew this sector was under the control of the Alpha Legion, and the outcome was as expected.
"The mayors refused My Lord. Shall we still make planetfall?"
