Chapter Three: Acquiring the Vi Template
Daniel looked at the name and tried to summon whether this world was familiar to him or not, but he did not remember that name at all. He asked the system again (System, can you access my memories?), and the system answered: [Yes, I have previously loaded the host's memories].
From that response Daniel understood that the system had the ability to access his memories. He turned to it and said (Tell me, System, do I know this world or not?), and the system replied: [Host, this world is different from all the worlds you know, and you have no information about this world's future except for some details. But I will tell you that this world is somewhat close to the peaceful Marvel world about which the host has more information than any other world; nevertheless, there are also many differences in this world.]
Daniel was surprised at first by that information, then his astonishment grew at the system's level of intelligence. He turned and said (What did you say at the beginning?), and the system answered: [Hello Daniel Adam, I am a system that was transferred to you when you moved to this world. I was originally in a golden operational form you met at first, but I am not the reason you were transported here, so do not be angry with me. I am a system that grants you the abilities of League of Legends characters you know well so that you can adapt to the world, but there is a condition: you must accept me with you now.]
A message then appeared on the screen in front of Daniel: [Do you accept this system to be with you and help you in this world?] Two options: [Yes], [No]
This was followed by a warning: [Advice: If you choose "Yes" there is a condition you should know: the system will take control of the host's body once in the future, but do not be afraid; the control will last only a few seconds and will never do anything to harm the host.] [And if you choose "No" you will not see the system again and the system will destroy itself, and you will live in this world as an ordinary person.]
Daniel looked at these messages while thinking, then asked (What do you intend to do after taking control of my body? Are you truly a system or a person controlling me remotely?), and he heard the system's answer: [In response to the host's question: I am a system, but I have a very intelligent artificial intelligence at human level, and I will be loyal to the host for life if you accept me. Do not fear me. As for what I will do after taking control of your body, know that you are not at the appropriate level to learn that now; when you advance further in the future you will know.]
Frankly, there was not much time to think; this was the dangerous Marvel world, and since there were also mutants, how could he press "No"? (I will certainly choose "Yes"). Daniel quickly pressed "Yes."
The system's robotic voice changed to a feminine tone, and the screen in front of him transformed into what every user sees at the start of the game: pictures of all League of Legends characters suspended, purchasable with a currency called "Gems." Then the system spoke to him in a playful female voice: [Hello Daniel, I will now tell you the rules you need.]
Daniel paused the display for a moment and asked (Why did your tone change now?), and the system replied: [Of course because you agreed; I was going to be deleted a moment ago]. Daniel said (Then why a female voice?), and the system answered: [Because I think this is closer to your heart; if you want a male voice I will change it now.]
Daniel said (Wait, stop, I think this is fine for now. Also, what is your name? I won't call you "the system" all the time). The system answered: [I do not have a name; you may name me now.]
Daniel thought for a moment and then said (Alright... Luna, what now?). A button appeared on the screen labeled "Free Once" and the name Luna was heard. Luna said: [Daniel, press this button; it will now select a template for a random character for you. This is the selection button that later you must press if you want a new character template, but that will require Gems, and if you use more Gems you get a stronger character template.]
Daniel pressed the button very excitedly; the character images flew by at great speed then began to slow until they settled on the image of Vi. Daniel was momentarily shocked; he had wanted at least a character who used magic, but Vi's image began to glow among all the character images and the lock that was on her vanished.
Then Daniel asked Luna (What now?), and Luna replied: [Nothing else. All you have to do is think that you have metal gloves or think of the character itself, and the gloves will appear on you automatically. But I advise you to do this in a place where no one is watching.]
Daniel quickly agreed with Luna's decision, then went to the street he had appeared from; it was empty. He then began to imagine that he was now wearing metal gloves, and the screen displayed: [Vi Template — Activated]. All the details related to Vi then appeared on the screen: her level — which is level one now — the six main empty slots for items purchasable from the shop, and also all her attributes and her health points and mana points — everything exactly as in the game.
The metal gloves actually appeared around Daniel's hands; Two massive gauntlets made of Hextech metal, covering the arms up to almost the elbows. Their color was a coppery-gold with dark gray parts, and glowing blue energy lines ran through the joints. On each gauntlet several thick metal plates were connected by rings and small mechanisms allowing movement. On the front of the knuckles there were engraved symbols and a gear-like emblem. The gauntlets were equipped with a Hextech power generator that lights up when charging or during strikes, and they sometimes emitted a faint sound like an electric buzz. He recognized from their look that they were the default skin in the game.
But the gloves were slightly heavy for Daniel, and it was difficult to fight in them. Suddenly Luna said to Daniel as he inspected all the new things: [Daniel, do you want to carry the Vi template at 100%?]
Daniel said (Wait, is there another condition?), and Luna said: [No, there is no other condition; once you manage to obtain the template it is yours, and you can use all its mental, physical, and magical power. But if you want to do this truly you must transform into the template's own form and appearance to be able to do so.]
Daniel stood stunned by the news he had just heard, and he stopped thinking for a moment, then said to Luna in a weak voice: (So... do I have to transform into a woman to gain Vi's physical strength?) Luna replied happily: [Yes, and you will also gain her combat memories.]
Daniel stood there, unable to reply or do anything. After a few moments Luna said to him: [You can also obtain this benefit without transforming into Vi's female form now, by purchasing these benefits with Gems.]
Daniel took a deep breath feeling a slight relief, and asked Luna (Then why did you not tell me this earlier?), and Luna replied confidently: [You did not ask]. Daniel replied loudly: (You did that on purpose!) and Luna answered him: [No, I did not do it on purpose]. Daniel.....
After that Daniel felt embarrassed internally; ashamed that a woman was physically stronger than him. He blamed himself that if he truly wanted to become stronger he would have worked for it, but he had neglected that in the past.
