Chapter 313 - Chapter 313 Gaining Acceptance

"About that, don't worry, Mom. Yusei-kun drew manga before and earned a lot of money!" Asuna said with a hint of pride.

She seemed even happier about Yusei's earnings than if she had earned the money herself. It was like the pride parents feel for their children's accomplishments… sometimes they are modest about their own achievements, but they want the whole world to know about their children's successes.

Because they are their children, they are naturally proud and overjoyed.

Asuna was probably in a similar situation now, because Yusei was her boyfriend.

"Drew manga and earned a lot of money?" Kyoko looked at Yusei with interest. She hadn't expected a Tokyo University's student to have a side job drawing manga that actually made money.

As for Asuna's mention of 'a lot of money', she automatically filtered it out. At their age, earning a few million yen would already be considered quite good.

Kyoko nodded encouragingly, "That's quite good. However, I hope you both focus your energy on your studies for now."

"Mhmm, mhmm!" Asuna quickly nodded in agreement.

Seeing both her daughter and her boyfriend being so well-behaved, Kyoko nodded with satisfaction.

When choosing a boyfriend, besides her own feelings, the most important factor was that the other person had to be capable.

Initially, upon hearing that Yusei was a Tokyo University's student in the same faculty as Asuna, Kyoko had thought this young man could eventually work in their family business… essentially, a form of marriage where he would join their family.

In Japan, this practice was quite common. However, what Kyoko didn't know was that even the Shinomiya Family hadn't managed to make Yusei agree to such an arrangement.

Finally, Kyoko's gaze shifted and settled on Yui. Looking at this adorable little girl, a strange feeling arose in her heart.

'My daughter's daughter... Even if she's adopted, does this mean I'm a grandmother now?'

In her dazed state, Kyoko didn't forget to ask the crucial question. She looked at Asuna and Yusei.

"Who registered the adoption for this child?"

'Registration?' Neither Yusei nor Asuna had officially registered anything. Because Yui started as essentially a non-person in the system, until she herself hacked into the database and modified her own information...

Yusei and Asuna exchanged a glance. Then Asuna said, "I handled the registration. A classmate of ours has family connections in this area, so we managed to get it done quite easily."

As for who this 'classmate' was, it was naturally the Shinomiya young lady. Saying they had connections wasn't wrong, given the Shinomiya Family's influence spread throughout Japan.

Hearing this, Kyoko nodded. That was acceptable for her. She felt that this way, even if this young man and her daughter were to break up in the future, the adopted child wouldn't be taken away by him.

Therefore, she could now consider investing resources in this child.

It might sound somewhat calculating, but no one wants to invest effort only for someone else to reap the benefits.

Yuuki Kyoko looked at Yui, a gentle smile appearing on her face, "Your name is Yui, right? Would you like to come live with me, your grandmother? Your... parents still have to attend university."

Yui was, of course, ten thousand times unwilling. She immediately hid behind Asuna, grabbing her mother's clothes tightly.

It was clear she understood this person was her mother's mother. She knew about human family relationships, but she was afraid her mother might feel pressured by her own mother's request and send Yui to live with her grandmother.

Yui was happiest when she was with Asuna and Yusei. How could she possibly want to live with Kyoko?

Asuna naturally wouldn't send her adorable daughter to her mother either. She understood Kyoko's intentions perfectly.

It was probably that whole 'elite education' thing again, loading Yui up with various tutors, homework, etc., from a young age… because that's how Asuna herself had been raised.

After all, her precious daughter was an AI, arguably possessing more knowledge than any human, as even Kayaba Akihiko, her creator, couldn't know everything.

Yui could access all information on the network. She was a walking encyclopedia. Studying, tutoring… none of that was necessary.

Moreover, Asuna simply wanted Yui to grow up happily, hoping she would be joyful every day, free from worries.

"Mom, we'll take care of Yui ourselves. Yusei-kun's family also knows about Yui and can help look after her. There's no need to worry about not having enough time."

"Is that so? Well, that's fine too. I don't need to intervene in this aspect. But Yui must attend a prestigious private school. That's where she can receive the best education," Kyoko stated.

"Uh, alright," Asuna could only agree.

Yui didn't have much of a reaction… as long as she could be with her Papa and Mama, it was fine.

After saying this, Kyoko looked at Yusei again.

"I won't say much else. But you must take good care of Asuna. That is my only request for you. Don't disappoint her expectations of you."

"Understood, Auntie," Yusei said.

"Mhmm. There's nothing else, really. But find time, Asuna, to bring Yusei-kun home for a meal. Your father should know about him too."

"Okay, I understand."

After giving a few more instructions, Kyoko didn't disturb their three-person date further and left them to their space.

Choosing a seat further away, Yusei and Asuna sat down with Yui. Asuna stuck her tongue out playfully at Yusei, looking apologetic.

"Sorry, I didn't expect to run into Mom so suddenly."

"Haha, but isn't it good that we got your mother's approval? It's better than putting it off indefinitely," Yusei said with a laugh.

Asuna nodded, then began complaining to Yusei about the 'elite education' she received as a child.

She rarely talked about her family matters with Yusei before, but seeing her mother today prompted her to share stories from her childhood.

Yusei had some impression of this, knowing Asuna's mother was very strict with her, but he hadn't realized there were so many rules.

"That must have been really tough for you. But I guess that's common for young ladies from families like yours, right? Kaguya is similar."

"As for Kaguya, her main focus was practicing Kendo, wasn't it? And she was genuinely interested in it. But I had no interest at all in things like piano or dance," Asuna said helplessly.

"So, what did you most want to do when you were little, under all that 'high-pressure' environment?" Hearing Asuna's words, Yusei became curious.
