Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Queen’s Misfortune

"This doesn't seem like an Aerodactyl."

As a scientist, Queen's technical skills are still competent. Human modification and viruses are his main focus areas, and biology is an indispensable element when it comes to these aspects.

Not to mention fossilized pterosaurs, you can even find living pterosaurs on some Ancient Islands.

An Aerodactyl doesn't have a tail as thick as King's, and the width of its lower and upper jaws far exceeds that of a pterosaur's mouth.

"These wings are a bit wasted. Your Lunarians Race can naturally fly, right? That brat's flame temperature has increased a lot, what about you?"

Queen seemed to regain vitality, or rather he hadn't really intended to go all out before. His body had been modified numerous times, coupled with the recovery ability of the Ancient Type, he had almost fully recovered by now.

Researchers often have a strong sense of curiosity, but after speaking, he suddenly feels a bit regretful. King is currently in full Beast Form, the Aerodactyl's size having increased a bit, now flying in the air.

When Queen questioned his ability, King showed a rather dangerous look in his eyes, with even a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth.

"Hey, you wouldn't..."

Queen swallowed hard, and the next moment, King waved his wings, and four gigantic stones the size of houses mysteriously appeared in the sky, burying Queen beneath them.

But this weight was still manageable for Queen, and after a struggle, he crawled out covered in dust, only that his misfortunes seemed to pile up today.

"Aren't you an Aerodactyl! Why does an Aerodactyl have stone abilities! Modified mythical types should make some sense, okay!"

"Are you an idiot? Mythical types are called so because of their nonsensical abilities."

Queen said nothing, falling into deep self-doubt over the gigantic stones that had appeared out of nowhere. Just minutes ago, these two weren't ability users.

Though Ancient Types aren't as powerful as Mythical Types, they're also a rare Zoan, with a significant boost. But now, he's watching as these two have become Mythical Types.

Who would complain about having more abilities? Since they've all become flightless anyway, the more powerful the abilities, the better.

People sometimes find comfort in numbers, so Queen naturally looked at Kaidou, whom he thought wasn't an ability user, only to find that Kaidou was also a Mythical Type.

Leaving Kaidou aside, the source of King and Shaina's abilities ultimately comes down to Arceus, and Shaina has always referred to Arceus as the Holy Beast.

Queen knew very well what's in that research facility. Along with these two Lunarians, only that strange egg and those two Plates were sent over.

He doesn't believe a creature like a... uh... llama or horse could pop out of the stone, nor can he figure out what species Arceus is, but it's probably hatched from that egg.

Just as Queen was sizing up Arceus, Arceus was also eyeing Queen. Experiments on granting abilities to non-users had been tried, and the uncertain mutations of a Devil Fruit had been tested as well. If he wants to try other modifications, he'll need to find a few more Devil Fruits first.

Right now, he wanted to see what the results of modifying an ability user would be. They had suitable ability users here, but Kaidou was out of the question. Arceus knew the stronger the body, the greater the consumption, so modifying Kaidou would be too costly.

Compared to the non-user Shaina, Queen wasn't much different, making him a decent test subject.

It's just that unlike King and Shaina, Queen hadn't established a connection due to racial reasons. Although Arceus wasn't sure about the direction of modification at present, he was certain it wouldn't be harmful. Enhancing Shaina and King was for a better search for the Plates.

Also, it was to show Kaidou the potential benefits he could gain. Enhancing Queen wasn't an issue, but he felt this hefty fellow must have more value than that.

For instance, since this guy was part of that research facility, he should know something about the whereabouts of the Plates.

Arceus released the Plates from within himself, letting them float separately in front of Kaidou and Queen.

"There are sixteen more such Plates, representing the powers that originally belong to me." In some games, Arceus doesn't have a Blank Plate because without carrying a Plate, Arceus is of the Normal Type.

But when he became Arceus, the Normal Type also became part of his power. Each Plate represents immunity to a type of attribute attack.

In reality, there's no restriction to carrying just one Plate. Once he retrieves all the Plates, leaving aside whether his attacks would be effective, he could first ensure his own invincibility.

"Kaidou, to reiterate, these are what I need. Bring them to me, or provide information on their locations, and I'll reward you with the powers of a Mythical Type. That's our agreement, any issues?"

"Worororo, no issues, then our alliance is thus formed! We should hold a banquet now!"

In pirate culture's banquet chapter, alliances demand a banquet, good things call for a banquet, and even if there's nothing, holding a banquet is a good idea. Even the Rocks Pirates were influenced by this.

Almost every pirate has a heart for holding banquets, but now this empty town isn't suitable for hosting one.

Turns out, Kaidou wasn't completely addled and knew this place wasn't fit for a banquet.

Of course, primarily, he liked attending banquets, not organizing them himself. With only so few under his command now, it was impossible.

"Let's postpone the banquet, but we should at least drink a cup of alliance sake or something."

When one pirate crew decides to join another, both sides drink the "son Sake", and when two similarly strong individuals decide to ally, they perform a similar gesture to show sincerity. Though just a formal gesture, it's a tradition they've maintained.

From the mochi red bean soup shop Queen was in earlier, they found several containers, two large and three small, and Kaidou announced the formation of his pirate crew - the Hundred Beasts Pirates.

Arceus didn't join the Hundred Beasts, but he planned to use their name to search for Plates later, to avoid unnecessary trouble. Until he obtained most of the Plate powers, he didn't want to stand in the spotlight.

Currently, only the few present knew he hatched from the mysterious giant egg, and if this news reached the World Government, it could lead to significant trouble.

It's worth mentioning that Shaina was the one who helped hold up Arceus's sake bowl.

The core of the Hundred Beasts Pirates was thus formed, and Kaidou examined Arceus's Plate, seemingly in deep thought. Arceus didn't disturb Kaidou but turned to look at Queen.
