Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Welcoming Tomorrow

"Don't panic! Stay calm!"

Baimu shouted, his gaze fixed on the snarling Mightyena and Obstagoon ahead.

Upon closer observation, it was evident that these two Pokémon had all but lost their senses, completely consumed by their animalistic instincts and unprovoked fierceness.

Jian likely understood this, and so he remained silent from the start.

At the moment.

The two Pokémon were slowly approaching, their eyes locked intensely on the low growling Aron, searching for a spot to easily tear it apart.

Their focus was simply because, subconsciously, they considered Aron more of a threat, while the unchecked Chansey and the shouting Baimu seemed overly weak and could be temporarily ignored.

...Perhaps this could be exploited.

With his back against the solid rock wall, Baimu's agitation gradually subsided.

There was no doubt that physically, he and his Pokémon had lost any form of retreat. The opponents drew ever closer, the gap shrinking to just three meters, seemingly within arm's reach.

This certainly increased the accuracy of moves but also decreased the likelihood of successfully executing them.

If a gap can't be found, create one yourself!

"Rock Lock!"

The opponents' sense of pain was drastically weakened, as if they had opened a second health bar, enduring the moves just to get close and land their heavy hits. No ordinary Pokémon could withstand this.

Not to mention Aron, serving as a tank and primary attacker, which was disadvantaged in this one-against-two struggle.

The moment he spoke, Mightyena and Obstagoon charged simultaneously!

Thud!

But Aron, already prepared, was faster. With both claws stomping the ground, countless stones erupted, mixed with fresh earth and dust, pouring down upon Mightyena and Obstagoon like a torrential rain.

At first glance, this Rock Seal seemed like a towering wall of earth, intimidating anyone who looked upon it.

Yet Obstagoon and Mightyena pressed on as if they hadn't seen it, recklessly bulldozing through with their bodies, aggressively charging towards the rocks.

The former didn't even use its signature move, Blocking.

Bam bam bam bam!

A succession of dull thuds and dark light burst forth, shattering the stone into countless fragments and dust, quickly engulfing the entire surrounding area.

The pelting stones hurt Chansey tremendously, but more than physical pain, it was perplexed as to why it hadn't received instructions from Baimu, even though he was right behind. Unease crept into its heart.

It was unsure whether to use Healing Fluctuation on Aron.

Just then.

A towering figure broke through the wall of rocks and sand, swinging a powerful arm down towards Aron!

Soon.

Another figure lunged, targeting Aron as well!

Bam!

"Urgh!"

Aron let out a muffled groan as the two Pokémon pinned it to the ground, delivering a fierce assault of punches, kicks, bites, and clawing.

Their eyes, filled with malice, glowed blood-red amidst the dim dust, a truly unsettling sight.

Yet, unbeknownst to them, two figures quietly slipped away from their original spots.

"Now! Sing! Aron, Dig your way out!"

Having spotted an escape route, Baimu shouted.

Chansey anxiously watched Aron being brutalized by Obstagoon and Mightyena's moves, waiting for it to dig down first. However, Aron seemed disoriented and hadn't yet responded.

No time to wait!

It raised its small hands, lifting its head to sing.

"La♬~ la la la♪~ la la ri♫~ la la ri la♬~"

Pink waves and colorful notes spread forward, causing Mightyena and Obstagoon to suddenly turn.

Their furious gazes made Chansey's heart quiver, but it didn't cease its singing. Instead, it amplified its voice, as if to bolster its own courage.

Not far away.

Jian's face flickered upon hearing the song. The one who sold him the medicine claimed that once taken, would lead to heightened mental excitement and enhanced overall resistance.

But he couldn't ascertain if the sleep-inducing effect of the singing was included.

Ultimately, how could Baimu's two Pokémon be so troublesome? It was one thing for Aron to be so resilient, but Chansey was downright annoying, and together they endured until now.

Thinking this, Jian's expression grew more grim, and an ominous premonition arose in his heart.

As if confirming his suspicions, when the dust surrounding them settled, the swaying forms of Mightyena and other Pokémon became distinctly apparent.

Bam bam bam!

Three consecutive thuds as they hit the ground.

"Shit!"

Jian widened his eyes and without hesitating, turned to flee.

The worst-case scenario manifested, with the singing scoring a "triple kill", even preventing Aron from digging down as intended, but Baimu still had Chansey as a card to play.

If he had his say—

"Honchkrow!"

Jian shouted upwards, hoping the Honchkrow entangled with Vibrava in the sky would come down to assist.

Unfortunately, Baimu was even quicker than Honchkrow.

"Chansey, move Aron away and use Healing Bell!" he shouted, barreling forward with a force that made his footsteps sound like thunderclaps.

Jian turned slightly, immediately spotting the knife-wielding Baimu charging at him, causing his heart to race with fear.

What the hell is with this guy?

Why is he charging with just a knife!?

Unable to comprehend the situation, Jian didn't dare hesitate and fled for his life. This guy was so bizarre that Jian didn't even feel the urge to fight back.
