The atmosphere in the hall became heated right after my uncle said those words.
Kael is not who she thinks he is.
What did he mean by that statement?
For a moment, I couldn't hear the crowd. I couldn't hear the clicking of cameras or the gasps that erupted from the audience. My ears rang like someone had struck metal close to my head.
I turned to Kael expecting him to say something—defend himself. Call my uncle a lying, sick fuck.
But he didn't move.
He didn't speak either and worst of all, he didn't deny it.
I looked at him deeply. His usual reassuring demeanor was nowhere to be seen.
My chest tightened painfully.
My uncle lifted one hand again, asking for silence even though he had already thrown the whole room into chaos.
"Yes," he said slowly, savoring every word. "It is time the kingdom knows the real Kael Riven."
The reporters leaned forward.
Some council members whispered to each other.
