Chapter 60 - Chapter Sixty

Seraphina

FIVE YEARS LATER

My alarm didn't go off.

Or maybe it did and I slept right through it, because when I opened my eyes, the sun was already out. I blinked at the ceiling, groaned, and reached for my phone. The screen lit up with the time.

10:42 a.m.

"Great," I muttered. "Just fantastic."

I sat up, rubbing my face. My head felt dizzy from last night, which was the result of just one too many cocktails with the girls. A "finally off work" kind of night. I told myself I'd get home early. I didn't. I told myself I wouldn't oversleep. I did.

I threw my hair into a messy ponytail and checked my schedule. I had a cake tasting at noon for a client's bridal shower. A conference call with a venue manager at two.

A walkthrough at four. And somewhere in between, I needed to answer emails, fix a seating chart disaster, and pretend I was a functioning adult.

Typical day.
