Chapter 167 - Chapter 134: Green Grass Cake

By the afternoon, this grass-cutting operation finally came to an official conclusion.

Looking at the pile of grass in the pasture, stacked like a small mountain, Naoki said to the Gogoat:

"Now you guys will have a feast!"

The three Gogoat circled around the pile, sniffing at it occasionally but not taking a bite.

Naoki didn't mind. He took the towel handed over by Koraidon and wiped the sweat off his face, then carried some of the grass back to his room, soaking it in a basin of water.

For this grass, he planned to use part of it to make Grassy Seed and develop new Grass Type dishes, while the rest would be dried and stored as hay.

That way, when the ground is covered in snow in the future and no grass grows, there will be snacks for the Gogoat and Miltank.

Just as humans eat dried salted fish and cured meats.

Naoki opened the fridge, took out a bottle of juice, and gulped it down to quench his thirst.

Seeing that it was still early, he decided to try developing new green dishes.

He boiled water in a pot, and once it was boiling, he added grass, waiting a few minutes to complete a simple boiled grass dish.

Looking down, Naoki saw the information on the boiled grass appear in his mind.

[Boiled Grass (F-): A very poor dish. The original flavor of the grass was lost after being boiled in large quantities of water, and overcooking ruined its texture. The terrible taste makes it hard to swallow.

Cooking Effect: Easily lowers the favorability of Grass Type Pokemon.

Evaluation: The taste is like chewing wax; maybe only a Grass Type Pokemon starving for a week would try it.]

Naoki: "..."

Darn, there really is a dish with a debuff; I thought there wasn't, Naoki couldn't help but mutter internally.

But this was just a small experiment, and such an outcome was within his expectations.

After dumping the boiled grass into the trash, Naoki looked at the remaining grass and pondered, "If boiling doesn't work, how about juicing?"

Thinking of this, he opened the juicer, placed the cleaned grass inside, and added an appropriate amount of water.

As the juicer whirred, the clear water gradually turned green, and soon, several cups of grass juice were ready.

Naoki poured them into bowls.

[Grass Juice (C): A drink made from the ripe summer grass, appreciated by many Grass Type Pokemon for its rich flavor and texture.

Cooking Effect: Level 1 restorative potion, slightly recovering the Grass Type energy in a Pokemon's body, restoring the PP value of Grass Type moves.

Evaluation: Maybe juicing fresh spring grass would achieve better results.]

Hmm...

Naoki stared at the grass juice before him.

A restorative potion, likely similar to a small PP restorative item in a game.

The effect is decent, but the downside is it only restores PP values for Grass Type moves and isn't as useful for Pokemon of other types.

Then, Naoki began experimenting with frying grass, spicy grass, Steamed Green Grass, and any cooking method he could think of.

However, the results were consistently unsatisfactory.

[Fried Grass (F): Effect is to reduce Grass Type Pokemon's favorability.]

[Steamed Green Grass (E): Effect is to slightly restore Grass Type Pokemon's stamina.]

[Spicy Grass (D-): Effect is to occasionally make a Grass Type Pokemon breathe fire, increasing the favorability of certain Pokemon.]

Naoki couldn't help feeling a bit speechless.

No doubt, the certain Pokemon referred to here must be the Fire and Grass Dual Type Capsakid and its evolved form, Scovillain.

In his mind, he pictured that odd-looking Pokemon with a humanoid body but two large chili-like heads.

One head green, one red; when the green head is stimulated by spicy elements, it becomes fierce, converting the spiciness into Fire Energy, and spews explosive flames from the red head.

Honestly, it's a bit hard to appreciate.

Naoki thought that Hydreigon with its three heads was more pleasing to the eye than Scovillain.

He called over Cyclizar to help deliver the edible grass dishes to the Gogoat, while the rest was thrown into the trash bin.

Next up was the highlight of this experiment — the Green Grass Cake.

This was a very special dish.

In a game he played in his previous life, if players fed the Green Grass Cake to the little characters they were raising, and then had them tend to the crops in their farm.

The crops taken care of by the little characters would produce slight mutations.

Naoki recalled the cake-making process in his mind and began trying his hand at it.

First, he used the juicer to crush the grass, then got a suitable amount of cake flour, added vegetable oil, the crushed grass paste, and three fresh egg yolks.

After mixing them evenly, he added half a bottle of MooMoo Milk, continued mixing, and soon it became a deep green liquid batter.

He then whipped the egg whites with sugar into something resembling cream, before adding it to the prepared green batter.

Once the two mixtures were fully combined, he poured them into a cake mold and put it in the oven to bake for 55 minutes.

Naoki hoped for the cooking effect as he sat in his chair, and after a long wait, with a 'ding,' the cake was ready.
