Chapter 67 - Before the Update

Originally, I didn't really want to say these things, but after reading the daily chapter reviews, I just couldn't help it ==

Lately, after every chapter I release, the reviews are all saying it's filler, another filler chapter, completely just filler...

As an author, I'm not a seasoned pro, nor can I say I'm overly confident in what I write, but at the very least, I can promise that every chapter and every sentence is something I believe is worth writing about. There's absolutely no chapter where I thought, "I'm too lazy to think of a plot today, so I'll just stuff a meaningless chapter in to delay updates."

At the beginning, after a duel was finished, and I only updated with one day's routine, I was told it was filler. Later, during a duel, I simply mentioned the general rules of Yu-Gi-Oh! in case there were people who hadn't played before, or I used a sentence to explain the origin of some inside joke in the circle, and still, it was called filler...

Everyone can see that my previous work also chose a relatively niche genre, and this Yu-Gi-Oh! is the same. I didn't choose any of the hot topics on the Qidian Light Novel Chart like One Piece, Pokemon, Naruto, etc., because my writing mainly relies on interest. I like the works of Yu-Gi-Oh! and I like dueling, so I opened this book.

Honestly, before releasing the book, I had no confidence in whether it would be successful, because Yu-Gi-Oh! fan fiction is really rare. When I submitted, the editor specifically confirmed with me whether I had really decided to write on this topic, because at the time, she also wasn't optimistic about the prospects of a Yu-Gi-Oh! themed story.

However, I am very fortunate and pleasantly surprised to have encountered so many enthusiasts with the same interest, and the performance during the new book period is quite good. If it maintains when it's put on the shelf, there's hope for entering Qidian's premium channel.

If I'm lucky enough, this book might become the first Yu-Gi-Oh! fan fiction to break into the premium section.

The reason I'm saying this is actually to explain that if I wanted to write filler just for the sake of filling, I'd surely have gone with the trend to write a popular topic. The very reason I started this book is because I like it myself, and of course, I treat every chapter sincerely. There's no reason to shortchange the readers, and even less reason to shortchange myself.

It's just that an online novel, being a complete work consisting of several million words, each chapter itself is two to three thousand words, and the total capacity is only so much. What's written in one chapter must inevitably be things that can be summarized in a few sentences.

Even for a novel focused on dueling, for every duel, you need a reason and an opponent, right? If it's just dueling every day, the plot can't progress either (┬_┬)

In short, the author promises to definitely go all out with this book. The last book was in serial status for an entire year without a single break, and barring any major unexpected events, this one should be the same.

If you still honestly feel like it's filler, then there's truly nothing more I can do ==

Hasty stories never last long, and they can fall apart quickly. Without sufficiently rich characters, enough buildup, and foreshadowing, the content of the book can also easily fall apart.

As for being short...

...Hey, could what's an author issue ever really be called short?

It's called concise!

Since we're talking about being short, let's do three updates today, making it... eight thousand words.

Rounding up, that's another ten thousand words...

This shouldn't be considered short now, right?

Hmm... that's probably everything I wanted to say.

Finally, as per usual, shamelessly...

...fellow Duelists more handsome than the protagonist, how about investing a bit and leaving a recommendation vote?
